Oh Fer Pete’s Sake
Okay, here’s the background: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been an indicted felon for 5 years now. He was indicted in 2015 for securities fraud. He has not gone to trial because he keeps finding ways to avoid it. The reason for that is because he’s guilty as the dickens.
He’s filed all kinds of stalling briefs. One was to move the trial to the last remaining Republican stronghold in Texas – Fort Worth. Next, he got his friends on the Colin County Commissioners Court to quit paying the bills for the special prosecutor. So he’s flitted around for half a decade to keep himself from going to trial.
There’s a saying among the writ twits that if you get indicted, stay away from trial because if you wait long enough, all the witnesses will die or they will change the law.
There’s this. Paxton’s wife got herself elected to the Texas Senate. They’ve been in session for a full month and half now and she introduces a bill that would make what her husband did completely legal. I’m not kidding and with Republicans controlling both the Texas House and Senate, she’s liable to get it passed.
You would not believe this if you read it somewhere else, right?
It’s true. That’s happening in Texas.
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
Just wow, y’all. I grew up in Massachusetts and we always thought we had developed political corruption into an art form, but you guys are putting us to shame.
1Its the Tom Delayed maneuver. As mentioned in the works of Shityou’s – Art of Score.
2I vaguely knew Paxton when he was a sub-standard before he soiled forever the Texas AG’s office, this in spite of Jim Mattox having previously soiled the office in the 80s and early 90s. Have never met his wife, but obviously she shares his negotiable ethics. In a perfect world Paxton would be in a Federal lock-up somewhere.
3I would even take Northam in blackface here in the Old Dominion over this pair of grifters any day. What he did was insensitive and wrong, but not at the level of these two.
4It’s quite obvious that she can’t even spell ethics any better than her husband.
5I thought it was Colin County, not Tarrant
6You’re right. It is. Texas just has too many damn counties.
7Does Paxton also attend a church every Sunday, with 8 maybe 9 Commandments?
8Wow. They really DON’T have any shame, do they? Doing this nefarious stuff right out in the middle of the room and everything.
9I remember how numerous SBC churches allowed Paxton to proclaim his martyrdom from their pulpits. His wife apparently is culpable in his corruption as are his fellow party members and denomination.
10Of course she would have to write that bill to make what he did legal retroactively, since he’s already done it. That’s not usually the case with laws, am I right? When there’s a retroactive clause, there’s usually an interesting reason.
11Rhea, typically a grandfather clause is included which exempts certain classes of people or things from the requirements of a piece of legislation affecting their previous rights, privileges, or practices. What Frau Paxton is proposes is shutting the barn door after the horse has escaped, or changing a law after the crime has been committed.

13Go back to wisconsin where an investigation into walker found misdeeds the legislature changed the law and the paid for state supreme court stated since the law changed walker should not be held responsible for any crimes.
When one considers the recent history of the texas judicial system no one can expect any less corruption in protecting thuglican pols.
They did for kay babe from investigation of improper activities in her state position while running for senate or the hearing they gave delay ( armey?) where they stated that since law cited cash and payoff was made by a check that the corruption laws did not apply
