Michelle, Bust a Move

February 07, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I think I’m falling in love with Michelle Lujan Grisham, the new Democratic Governor of New Mexico.

A few days ago, she announced that she would withdraw National Guard Troops from the border. After Trump’s SOTU, she went further …

She elaborated during a news conference on Wednesday. “I’m not going to participate, nor do I think it’s appropriate in any shape or fashion to use the National Guard to attempt to militarize the border where we’re dealing with asylum seekers who their constitutional rights continue to be breached,” Lujan Grisham said, according to CNN.

Elections have consequences.  Grisham replaced Republican Susana Martinez.

And as a reminder, she tweeted a former campaign video of what she thinks about Trump’s wall.

You go, Girl.

Thanks to Epp for the heads up.

Can we get her to join the pack running for President?

  2. Benedict Donald keeps getting dissed (whether he knows it or not) by women who are a thousand times smarter than he is. I’ll bet it smarts.

Speaking of dissing a Trump–it’s Ivanka’s turn in the barrel:

BarbinDC, apparently the thin skin is a firmly implanted Trump trait. With the investigations in the inaugural,” charity” and other SDNY activities about to swamp Ivanka, she’s worried about some rather innocuous performance art. She needs to consult with Messy as to what might constitute offensive/vacuum/performance art.

Brava to Gov Lujan Grisham for woman ‘splaining to Cadet Bone Spurs that SHE is the Commander of the NM National Guard. Too many governors set a dangerous precedent when allowing Cheney/Dubya to command and deploy Natl. Guard overseas. Rummy didn’t say “go with the army you can steal.”

Yes!! And I got to vote for Michelle Lujan Grisham. I’m so proud of Blue New Mexico with our full sweep of Democratic elected officials all the way from governor to the land commissioner, both senators, and all three representatives (well, we’re a low population state),and majorities in both state houses. New Mexico – we’re not new, we’re not Mexico, and chile is not chili. Even our corn is blue. Woo hoo!

  5. Adam Eran says:

Sorry, Lujan Grisham lost me with “public/private partnerships.” She could avoid the private sector entirely with a New Mexico State Bank (a public bank). Banks make money out of nothing…it’s called “fractional reserve lending” and the state would get 100¢ on the dollar for money spent. Public/private partnerships are a way to subvert that. So the private profit takes, say 25% of the revenue generated…and the state gets only 75¢ on the dollar of housing or roads, or whatever.

This continues the long tradition of Democrats grifting opportunism.

Says Ralph Nader, this is an indication they’re in the hip pocket of the donor class: “The Democrats could blow it again. They blew it in 2010, ’12, ’14, and ’16, against the worst Republican Party that Kafka could ever imagine. Cruel, vicious, ignorant, Wall Street-indentured, warmongering, anti-labor, anti-woman, anti-consumer, anti-children — these are their votes in Congress. Why aren’t the Democrats landsliding them? They’ve lost the state legislatures, the majority of state governors, the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the executive branch. Because they’re still dialing for dollars and that’s the most important thing.”

…so until the D’s start cleaning up their act, we can expect more of the same, and certainly more Trump.

  6. The problem with Ralph Nader is that while he historically very accurately identifies a problem and brings media attention to himself and the problem, he is almost never correct about the solution. If he could have been correct more he might have gotten himself elected Potus. But he isn’t and didn’t.

  7. Karen not only did I vote for our governor but also Rep. Small

    7
  8. Public Private partnership.
Let the public pay and the private profit.
So after she tarnishes the D brand witha her give aways to the private sector she will collect her wing nut welfare for paving the way for a thuglican replacement.

  9. I turned the corner on my previous support of public private partnerships about the time multi-billionaire buffoon Jerry Jones extorted the City of Arlington into eminent domaining the homes of some folk that had the bad luck of living on land Jerry wanted in order to build Jerryland. So these folks got shown the door and the death star was built to further aggrandize Jerry’s ginormous ego. I hate snacilbupeR.

  11. Karen in NM @#4: I lived in ABQ for several years (plus have been visiting NM since I was a kid) and am so glad it went blue! Think it’s about time I visited again; even though I’m only a state away, in TX, we can’t get red chile here. We’re coming along with the availability of green, but no red unless I make it myself. Also Tex-Mex restaurants still think sopaipillas are a dessert and insist on putting powdered sugar on them. Sigh….

  12. Karen in New Mexico says:

Hi Paul: I think you identified yourself some time ago here at the Salon as a Las Crucen. I too had the pleasure of voting for Rep Torres-Small.

Jill-Ann: I feel your pain. I was an ex-pat in Fort Bend County, Texas for 35 years before I was able to get back to my home grounds. Can’t tell you how many arguments I had with people about the difference between chili and chile (never mind the color!) and that you spell Hatch with a capital H. And no, you don’t need a passport. I hope you can find your way back for a visit to our land of enchantment. If you come to Las Cruces, you, Paul and I will go have flat enchiladas together. Red, green or Christmas!

  13. Gads! First, a video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing on a rooftop when she was a student! It blew the minds (I’m being kind here) of so many of the R’s on the Hill. Now dancing, prancing female governor! Horrors! No one is supposed to be enjoying one damn moment of life, doncha know – according to the hypocites. Its just not done! Its not American!
