Remind Me: How Many Strikes Do You Get?
When Trump said he was going to call the government shutdown a “strike,” I got real confused.
It couldn’t be a union strike because in that case the workers voluntarily walk off the job. The meaning is that the little guys band together to face off the big guy. That’s not happening here. In union terms, this is a lockout, not a strike.
Maybe he meant bowling. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Trump takes his big ball and smashes the little pins every which away. No, wait, there problem with that. No big ball.
Baseball? A strike is a bad thing. You only get three of them before you have to go back to the bench. Trump is way over three so he probably wouldn’t admit to many more.
However, I think umpire Pelosi calls like she sees it and a baseball strike is probably what’s happening here.
Thanks to Chloe Bear for the heads up.
If Speaker Pelosi is the umpire, certainly she wouldn’t mind if Representative Maxine Waters led a bullpen of Democratic Representatives throwing high, inside fastball ‘strikes’ at Dotard45’s too dumb to be categorized ‘head.’ Who knows? If Stephen Miller whispering in Donnie’s ear and the loud mouth RW nutjob media shouting in his other ear motivates Donnie, just maybe the sound of a few fastballs whistling past his ear might catch his attention. Wind up some legislation as the “balls” and Old Scratch McConnell can play catcher.
1A swing…and a miss. Trump has whiffed again.
2Now that he has formidable opposition with the Dems controlling the House it’s a brand new ballgame and the heavy hitters are coming up to bat in the top of the inning. He’s doomed.
Someone who actually sloshed through Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged’ told Donald the story of how a rich and powerful egotist went on strike to go play golf at his resort when people demanded accountability. After months and years the masses cried and begged to be subjected to more abuse and fraud because paying for his erection was better than the collapse of civilization. And then for every year after the process was repeated.
The End
3A strike?
That reminds me of the cartoon you posted showing Mueller playing chess while Trump plays checkers.
Trump doesn’t know what game he’s playing.
4Joe DePete, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, sent trump a letter detailing the chaos the shutdown is causing — air traffic controllers and air marshals working without pay, inspections not being done, TSA agents calling in sick, airports in turmoil. If ALPA walks out, the marmalade moron will get a quick lesson in what a real strike looks like, and the damage to our economy will be catastrophic.
5“the damage to our economy will be catastrophic.”
Good point Buttermilk Sky.
Then the only question is, does Trump hate America, or just Americans?
A follow up question is, will his 2020 campaign raise campaign contributions by selling coonskin caps with the slogan, “Make America A British Colony Again.”
6?
How far back does he plan to take us?
Rick@6: “How far back …?” Far enough back that Orange Foolius should regret his Pocahontas jabs at Senator Warren when Team Mueller drops a Plymouth rock on him. He did say he wanted ALL immigrants out; sorry Germany, he’s yours.
7Someone with a better memory or at least a greater affinity with Google, tell me, isn’t this Trump’s 3rd shutdown? If so, isn’t he out?
Buttermilk, the true irony here is that of the 4,000 people Sarah Huckster Sanders said are evidence of a border crisis – only 6, count em’ SIX! were stopped at our Southern Border. The rest were stopped at AIRPORTS. So, placing stress on Airport security and not paying the TSA is a great way to address the problem.
