Ponder Fodder

Here’s something for you to think about.

Was the fix in?

And this from Kavanaugh —

Throughout this process, I have witnessed firsthand your appreciation for the vital role of the American judiciary. No president has ever consulted more widely or talked with more people from more backgrounds to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination.

No, maybe just one person.

Thanks to SGray for the heads up.

  1. “Was the fix in?”

    Yes.

    1
  2. WA Skeptic says:

Definitely; Judge Kennedy’s son handled all of Traitor Trump’s financial shenanigans for years at Deutsche Bank.

Will no one rid us of this traitor???

    Come on, Mueller.

  3. Jane & PKM says:

Many questions about Kavanagh to be answered. Have had a little time to scan what’s available. So far have determined he could be the “exception that proves the rule” that if he is pissing off everyone, he would be in the middle of the liberal to conservative spectrum. It’s simply that there’s a certain inconsistency in his rulings; put politely. Otherwise his rulings indicate a certain lack of appreciation for the rights of individuals. If they do their job, the Senate Judiciary Committee will be challenged to nail this bowl of jelly to a wall.

Then there is the trifecta of swampiness to be reconciled. Kavanaugh’s relationships with Justice Kennedy and Sister Maryann with the link to the Trump ‘Organization’ through Justice Kennedy’s son. Optics? Dunno. Can’t see through the swamp fog, but there is a definite odor.

  4. @WA Skeptic:

For all the public knows, Judge Kennedy may have had financial interest in the Deutsche Bank too. If so, this smells really unethical…

    4
  5. WA Skeptic says:

Considering how many on the Cabinet have Deutsche Bank connections, it’s amazing that the stench hasn’t reached heaven.

    5
  6. I hope Mueller has good sense of smell.

    6
  7. Oddly, ordinary US citizens are usually denied overseas bank accounts by European banks who dont want to deal with the IRS. Smells more and more like 1930s Germany.

  8. Jane & PKM says:

WA Skeptic, this summer there’s been a discernible additional rupture in the ozone layer over the northern Sierras. Had attributed it to Zinke, but it could be a combined maladministration effort.

Somewhat O/T, but illegal and disturbing, another pair of Dotard45 pardons. Arsonists Steve and Dwight Hammond who ‘inspired’ the Bundy Goofy Loofah Gang to take over the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in 2016 were pardoned by Donnie in his latest incursion on western states, general campaign to inspire lawlessness, and efforts to undo anything remotely Obama related. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-pardons-oregon-men-whose-case-sparked-wildlife-refuge-takeover/ar-AAzR7Rb?ocid=spartanntp

Donnie. Didn’t he run on “law and order” as one of the planks he intended to stick in the eye of democracy? “law and order” three more words reversed, then mangled, in the covfefe translator.

Message to Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats – hold the line. No more judicial appointments, pardons or anything remotely related to the judicial system, until the investigation of Dotard45 and his co-conspirators is complete.

  9. Old Quaker says:

Why would Kennedy be so interested in promoting a guy knows would vote to tear down Kennedy’s legecy? That don’t make no sense. There is nothing in Kennedy’s history to indicate he’s sleezy. His son is something else. Are we now so cynical?

    9
  10. Well with the news of these “negoitations” between a sitting sc judg and demented donnie all judicial hearings must be cancelled until hearings are held determining the legality and ethics of such an unprededented move.
these hearings should not take more then 3 years.

    10
  11. Jane & PKM says:

Old Quaker, maybe not so much cynical as speculative about the reason(s) Justice Kennedy retired and the timing of his retirement. It could be something as “simple” as age, health or personal reasons.

In the FWIW department, polls on current feelings toward SCOTUS. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/should-filling-the-vacant-supreme-court-seat-be-delayed-until-the-november-election/ar-AAzOBjx?ocid=spartanntp

O/T Many Happy Birthdays to Micr and the folks in his family who have had or will be having birthdays this summer.

    11
  12. Not at all surprised. Kavanaugh was one of his clerks. The fix was in the minute they probably met years ago. In a way, it is kind of a type of nepotism.

    12
  13. Jane & PKM says:

maggie, that’s TWO clerks for Kennedy. Gorsuch also clerked for him and for Justice Byron White. Is there something about Justice White or Kennedy that I am missing?

    13
  14. Linda Phipps says:

WA skeptic: it’s “Will no one rid me of this bothersome priest”.

    14
  15. Jane & PKM says:

Linda Phipps, I’d go with “Out, damned spot” which is equally applicable to Donnie, his scamming family, the maladministration and generally anyone appointed, nominated or otherwise blighted by Dotard45. But at the risk that Donnie would think it a reference to the dog, Spot, from the last book he may have read, or more probably have had read to him – Sally, Dick and Jane (New Basic Readers).

    15
  16. @Jane & PKM

How erudite of yall to whup out chore Billy Shakespeare! “Out I say!”

    16
  17. Thanks Jane & PKM !

Sounds like Kavanagh’s opinions can be bought by the highest bidder.

    17
  18. Sam in St Paul says:

I always thought Clarence Thomas was the most craven Justice. I might have to rethink that ranking.

    18
  19. e platypus onion says:

WH spokesman would not deny agreement. He was asked several ?s and never said no once.

Nothing to see here, unless this had been HRC and then this arrangement would replace lying about sex as the impeachment driver against a Dem.

    19
  20. Jane & PKM says:

Sam in St Paul, it’s likely Justice Thomas lacks the intelligence to rate “craven.” It wasn’t until Scalia’s death that he actually spoke.

As for Kavanaugh, he may not be a slippery as he thinks himself to be. In his dissenting opinion, Garza v Hargan (TX immigrant minor seeking abortion) he wrote: “The Government has permissible interests in favoring fetal life, protecting the best interests of a minor, and refraining from facilitating abortion,” adding that the decision was “a radical extension of the Supreme Court’s abortion jurisprudence.” He lacked the moxie at a minimum to cite Justice Rehnquist’s dissenting opinion in Roe v. Wade and he was flat wrong on the facts & law. https://mic.com/articles/190192/we-may-never-know-brett-kavanaughs-real-opinion-on-roe-v-wade#.MTmAcJ5Dg

    20
  21. WA Skeptic says:

    @Linda Phipps:

I know that; just adapting the quote to present day reality. Or should I tell him “Get thee to a nunnery”? In Bill Shakespeare’s day a “nunnery” was a slang term for a brothel, and the madam was known as an “Abbess”. Donnie would probably feel right at home there, since his grandpa ran one in Alaska.

    21
  22. Jane & PKM says:

WA Skeptic, for Dotard45 would update that to “chicken ranch” – Donnie has experience in NV brothels and should recognize the term.

    22
  23. It seems to me that Kavanaugh being appointed due to a “fix” that he certainly participated in is an impeachable offense. Those on the SCOTUS bench can be impeached and removed.

    23
  24. Off topic but…

I have just spent 4+hours going and coming on US75 through Dallas. Twice. The traffic was awful. My middle fingers are exhausted! 🙂

    24
  25. Yes.
    The fix was in.

    25
  26. On the issue of ideological hacks appointed as judges we have a new horror that I raised questions anout some months ago.
After thuglican judgs decided that they needed to have more of the “right” thinking judges on all levels they have given demented donnie the oppurtunity to stack the government with his friends, relatives, supporters and defenders in roles as administrative judges.
This means SS, IRS, Immagration, and all of the other positions where the weight of their cold bigoted ignorant thumbs can tip the scales in protection of their owners and masters. Oaths be damned.

  27. Hey, y’all! Just discovered that since the Golden Gibbon took over, he has lost 141 staffers and have replaced only 138 of them. Local bookies are taking bets on just how long this current string of suckers last.
