Here’s the Goofy Backstory on D’Souza’s Pardon

June 01, 2018 By: El Jefe Category: Trump, unprecedented

To any objective observer, Dinesh D’Souza is a lying shitbag.  He’s famous for his lie-filled films like “Obama’s America” and “Hillary’s America” where he turns logic on its head peddling wild stories about everyone with whom he politically disagrees.  Debunking his bullshit is virtually a full time job for Media Matters. He spins wild conspiracy theories; for example, his book, The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 blamed Democrats for the 9/11 attacks.  One of his most famous volumes was The Roots of Obama’s Rage where he fabricated the argument that Obama “was carrying out the anticolonial agenda of his Kenyan father”, whatever the hell that means.  Newt Gingrich often quotes D’Souza especially when repeating his birther lies.  On top of that, D’Souza was fired from a Christian college for making unwanted advances on a woman (not his wife).  And to add felony to lies, D’Souza was convicted of violating federal campaign finance laws by using straw donors to make illegal contributions to Wendy Long, famous in New York for losing to both Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer.  He got a light sentence of a $30,000 fine and 5 years probation.  He’s pretty much among the worst of the worst lie and conspiracy theory spinners, spewing toxic lies by turning history on its head with his down is up, left is right, and the sun rises in the west logic.

So, like criminal Joe Arpaio, he was the perfect candidate for a Trump pardon.  The goofy part of the story? Unfortunately, you have to stoop to reading the Daily Caller to get the goofiness.  The pardon request was made by none other than Trump enemy, Ted Cruz.  That’s right, the National Embarrassment of Texas successfully drove the campaign to get another famous liar off scott free.

Not only is the hole getting deeper, it’s getting weirder.

UPDATE:

I was reminded by a friend of this tweet from 2013 captured by Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post.  This tweet is by the person just pardoned by Trump:

  1. Could never figure out D’Souza. But that only means I am one of many. Then I think of him next to Trump and frankly those two were separated at birth.

  2. maryelle says:

There must be an electro magnetic force drawing these wackos together. Dump, Arpaio, Cruz, D’Sousa, Barr, Blagojevich….and the list goes on. Somehow they have escaped from the black hole that is FOX.

    2
  3. I had not seen that odious D’Souza tweet before, but it does explain why Cadet Bone Spurs is considering a pardon. Birds of a feather, and all that.

  4. Buttermilk Sky says:

The tragedy is that Trayvon Martin could have grown up to be president, if he had been allowed to grow up. Instead, we have senile Ted Bundy in the White House.

    4
  5. Trump chooses his pardons for maximum publicity effect: “I’m pardoning known, obvious, wealthy criminals who support me and an extreme right-wing agenda, so the people Mueller subpoenas know I can (and maybe will) pardon them if they don’t flip on me–they’ll be fine.”

The pardon as a tool of obstruction of justice. He’s sure not going to pardon some black man who’s been in prison 23 years on faked evidence of a crooked cop or DA.

    5
  6. So next he pardons Ted Cruz’ father for conspiring with Oswald?

    6
  7. Make that “colluding with Oswald”.

  8. Jane & PKM says:

It is not a coincidence that Donnie wants to pardon people prosecuted by Preet Bahara, James Comey, Robert Mueller and anyone else he is attempting to discredit, besmirch and otherwise nullify. Just more of the “Trump Branding” effort to preempt his own legal difficulties and those of his family & associates. That and his distract, distract, distract general assault on truth.

Yet another ‘coincidence’ or should we all vacation and/or buy property in the Seychelles? Seems the alternate half of Javanka’s pal Rick Gerson was also “in the Seychelles” and Mueller’s team has a few questions for him, too.

  9. Jane & PKM says:

Another question or two to ask of Donnie: why not pardon Alice Marie Johnson or at least commute her sentence? Or, isn’t a woman of color worthy of consideration in the Dotard45 maladministration? The lady is in her 60s and has served over 20 years of her sentence, two considerations worthy of compassion.

  10. twocrows says:

Raise your hand if you think anyone has bothered to explain to D’Souza the fact that, in order to accept a pardon, you must first accept guilt.

    Nah, me neither.

  11. twocrows says:

    @ Ellie —
Hell, that tweet was D’Souza’s pardon petition.

    11
  12. Please Texas, clean up that dog mess you call Ted Cruz

  13. And speaking of pardons, the Governor of Virginia, Dr. Northam, just pardoned a woman who had been jailed for 5 months. It seems that the fetus she was carrying had been dead for some time when her body finally released it. She put it in the trash. The prosecutor did not grasp that fact. If the fetus had been born alive and died immediately, it would have been quite another situation. As Dr. Northam remarked, we do not jail women who have suffered miscarriages.

  14. Jane & PKM says:

Maggie, that intrusion into a woman’s health begs for further investigation. What manner of incompetent judge allowed the case to extend beyond any preliminary or bond hearing(s)? As for that prosecutor possibly practicing both law and medicine without a license, the ABA and AMA both need to investigate. If Trump U had a law program, Rudy G was the adjunct professor that produced those morons. Not since Oral Roberts University spewed out Michele Bachmann has there been greater cause for the ABA to dismantle institutions modelled on R.J. Rushdoony lunacies. Hope the ACLU or a competent pro bono attorney assists the lady in powning the people involved.
