OutSmart Time
Hop on over to OutSmart and Enjoy! Feel free to comment over there. They are nice people. Ignore that crazy Republican guy who stalks me.
I’m going to the baseball game today. You won’t see much of me here today because it’s a day game.
However, between innings, I will be reading my phone to see if I can figure out what Mueller means when he says that Trump isn’t a criminal target. That means they don’t have enough proof to target him in a criminal investigation. But that he is the “subject” of an investigation.
Opening Day is the real New Years Day. Enjoy.
1Both the Astro’s and the D-Back’s off to a strong start.
2All is right in the real world. In till Spanky gets up and tweet’s BS.
Sorry to drag you away from the joy of Baseball:
I keep hearing that *subjects* can become *targets* at any time, and that interviews may often be one of those times. In 45’s case, well…
3I am thinking it is a word thing. I am not after you directly but I will go where my investigation leads. Meaning “I am after the criminal as yet to be named”.
4It is actually a prosecutor’s way of saying, “Oh. Okay. So, if you don’t have anything to hide, come talk to me.”
Heh. Heh.
5Being the subject of an investigation is the same as being engaged … prior to marriage. Just like: ‘love & marriage, horse & carriage … subject & target.
6It could be a way of saying “unindicted co-conspirator.”
7He might not be a criminal target, but he is a criminally bad president.
8Its a ploy prosecutors use to fool the actual subject into relaxing just enough to become cocky. I am really enjoying this!
9“Subject” of an investigation is Donald Trump before Mr. Mueller asks him questions. “Target” of an investigation is what Donald Trump will be when he answers those questions with his usual lies and BS.
10The lobby of my building was playing Fox when I just walked by. They asked themselves that question and the vacous blond on the left immediately said “It’s a trap”
11Subject= TBI (Trump Before Interrogation)
12Target = TAI (Trump After Interrogation)
I wonder if a “subject” is like when police are looking for “a person of interest?”
13Come on down to the police station, we just want to clear up a few things.
Then, after police talk to him, he becomes a person under arrest.
Someone tweeted that if we don’t get an app to schedule all April games in the south or under a dome it’ll be the end of civilization. Meanwhile, the Sawx are opening at home to 45F and windy.
And can I borrow “Honey, I’m telling you he’s so forgetful that he can hide his own Easter eggs.”? Can’t stop chuckling at that, even though it may describe me on some days.
14Baseball? Pffffft … the NBA finals start Apr. 15th. This Dub will see you in Houston. But please don’t expect me to be gracious about Texas, when we’re talking blood sport. 😀
15@Jane & PKM
What is this “NBA” of which you speak???
Baseball is … is … well it’s almost perfection. I’m sure that 1.6180339887498948482… appears in Baseball somewheres.
16Time begins on Opening Day. Tom Boswell said so. My team, on the other hand, employs Tim Tebow. It’s a mystery.
17Not original with me, but it has been pointed out a few places that ‘not being a target’ implies in some fashion that one isn’t now or isn’t yet likely to be hit with a criminal indictment. Since there’s considerable question as to whether a sitting president can be indicted, there may be a definitional issue here… he’s not a target only because only congress can indict (impeach), not the DOJ.
It’s also floating around that Mueller’s team is looking for permission to publicly release their obstruction findings, which would require more authority than Mueller has.
18lazgrl@14: Yesterday the Twin Cities got the better part of a foot of snow. Tomorrow is the Twins home opener… and we’re going to see if they’re going to break the record for coldest opener (32F IIRC). The forecast is for a low of 7F, a high of 34F, and a 50% chance of snow.
They’re not in danger of breaking the coldest regular season game, which was held in Colorado and saw 23F for the game. But it will probably be colder than 32F for this weekend’s home games.
19WaPo has more than one article about the subject/target stuff.
“Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III informed President Trump’s attorneys last month that he is continuing to investigate the president but does not consider him a criminal target at this point.”
I think “at this point” is perhaps the critical phrase. Subject is often a waypoint toward Target.

20Micr, it’s an odd thing with me. Went to ASU on a baseball scholarship and loved it, but basketball remains my love. Obviously my love in sports only, as Jane and the boys are my true loves. Still enjoy playing baseball, but sitting and watching not so much.
21Eyesoar, I just don’t get April ball, dome or not. I remember an April game in the late 60s in Boston where pitchers had a fire in a trash can in the bullpen (and fans built one in the ladies’ room). Let hockey finish (preferably in mid May) then let baseball begin.

10-4.
