Heads Up, Austin Friends and Pretty Much Everybody Else

March 12, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

In Austin this morning, two people have been killed – both African Americans – at their homes from packages left on their front porches during the night.  They took the packages inside and opened them.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said the two incidents displayed enough similarities to investigate them together. Since both victims were African-Americans, Manley said investigators are also viewing the attacks as potential hate crimes.

The two houses are 11 miles apart.

Thanks to Yvonne for the heads up.

  2. Hmmm. Heard about this on the TV. These victims were not picked at the last minute or off the cuff. The bomber had them in mind beforehand. Some time ago during the Mad Bomber period (Ted is now in jail forever), a local doctor received such a package, opened it in his office and damn near died. Another doctor located down the hall saved his life.
The victim was picked because he was a psychiatrist. He was the only one in a building full of many other doctors. Cannot exactly recall at the moment if the bomber was ever caught. It was so long ago. I sure hope that who ever is doing this in Austin is grabbed quickly.

  3. Being a Fed Ex driver in Austin is really going to suck until this guy (it is always a male) is caught.

I’m in Austin. I think I’m staying inside, with my husband and cat. Maybe I won’t be so scared of boxes after a couple of days with our attack cat inside.

Also in Austin. Heard the news on KUT about bombings while driving to sit with two kids who specifically asked for me. Got home mid-afternoon, and postman climbed my steep driveway to deliver a package. I hesitated although I was expecting the delivery and recognized the box. Plus, I remembered the news story said the deadly box had not been delivered by a standard courier.
