Supporter No More
Kraig Moss, who lost his son to a heroin overdose, was a rabid supporter of Cheeto Jesus, attending 45 campaign rallies for him. He believed the tripe CJ spewed promising to fix every problem, right every wrong. He now is no longer a supporter after the new er, uh…(urp) president supports Cheetocare, which slashes addiction spending and kicks over 20 million Americans off of healthcare.
I wonder – What exactly did Moss see in CJ’s past behavior that convinced him he was anything more than a lying reality television star?
He saw what the damn Russians wanted him to see, that Hillary was a worse choice. He was wrong, now he’s right.
More importantly, when are we getting the russians out of our democracy?
1What did he see? He saw the thrilling rallies, the roar of the crowd, simple-to-understand slogans. Any reality-based media pointing out the obvious was basically drowned out.
On the other side we had at best damn-with-faint praise articles about Hillary who was constantly described in terms as a “flawed candidate” and “not connected with common people” and e-mails e-mails e-mails. If you saw anything positive it was in a TL;DR type of article which someone like Moss would never read.
Most humans are herd animals. Moss is a herd animal. He was convinced that all those enthusiastic people could not all be wrong and he waved his flag and wore the hat and was convinced that anything negative about Trump was most likely a media conspiracy in collusion with the liberal elite.
Get the picture? Most people are busy trying to pay bills and stay out of hock. They don’t have time to read blogs that challenge their assumptions or contradict their preconceptions. Most of them don’t even realize the have preconceptions.
Conservative interests have build their propaganda empire over the last 40 years for a reason. Trump managed to hijack it and without it he never would have been remotely close. But the purpose of it was to create voters like Moss.
2Not being much of a Wall Street Journal reader as a general rule, I’m not familiar with their writing style. But “a drunk clinging to an empty Gin bottle” sounds like Matt Taibbi.
3CheetoCare or TrumpCare? That’s giving Donnie way too much credit. While he may have promised the moon to his rabid supporters, Donnie never gave health care a thought. Instead Donnie campaigned with a knife posed to the backs of his supporters. Their first clue should have been the selection of Mikey Pence as running mate. Donnie’s only “plan” was to bask in the glory of office, while Mikey did the heavy lifting with Congress. Anyone with a scintilla of what Mikey did for Indianan should have lowered their expectations of anything the moment Mikey was selected. It’s RyanCare now, all 70 or so blank pages of it. Blank pages it what you get with an ideologue’s idea of health care with that bent ‘conservatism.’
On to the irony bone for snacilbupeR. Early on in the primaries they bit with the jaws of a wolverine onto the meme of “no more Bushes, no more Clintons.” Yeah buddy, no political dynasties for them. Oops the irony, as Crook Junior Kushner and Ivanka move into the West Wing with by some sleight of hand produced security clearances.
Mere buyer’s remorse snacilbupeR? Look again, you’ve created a Romanov White House.
4@Alan – I’d throw in misogyny, racism, & selfishness in the mix; no way would they vote for a woman president and a white man will do everything better than a black man. Every story I hear regarding repealing Obamacare has these idiots thinking Trump was going to make things better for them (not for the majority but for themselves). The story that makes me rage against the female trump voter who told it (sorry I can’t remember where I read it or I’d provide the link): she was 55 years old, FIRST TIME voter because she wanted “something better” and thought Trump would give it to her. Under the ACA she was paying about $270 per month for her premium with around $750 subsidized by the government. She was diagnosed with some illness and under TrumpRyanCare aka DonTcare she probably won’t be covered at all or her premium will be unaffordable. Now, she wishes she hadn’t voted at all. Ugh. I just want to slap these people upside their head.
Many Trump voters wanted to be lied to so much they never looked at what Trump actually ever did, the rest of the Trump voters just wanted a bigger bully than themselves who wanted someone to “stick it to the man.” Now most of them are finding out that their main man Trump is sticking it to them so hard just so the rich can get richer. Some are admitting that but so many more will never admit that they brought this all on themselves. Especially if the minorities have it worse off than themselves – then it’s all good.
5Maybe he was just desperate, and fell victim to the delusion of “easy” promises to correct his plights.
6There’s a great book review in the (not failing) New York Times about how ignorance became a virtue.

7@gif – well put. Racism, greed, xenophobia all play a role in what happened but I still think the largest factor is poor education.
8What did he see? What the hell do the parents of five girls see in their support of the puss grabber in chief? Total delusion!
9If you haven’t seen Rachel’s show from last night [3/21], do yourself a favor and watch at least the first 2 blocks of it. It explains, in detail, how people like Kraig Moss got duped. The Russian pro-Trump/anti-Clinton bot-campaign was massive and is now finally, finally coming to light.
Yes, there are people who are uneducated – some who even choose to stay that way. Yes, there are bigots who voted their bigotry. And yes, there are people who would never vote for anyone who does not have an R after his/her name. But Russia managed to move a whole lot of people who don’t fall into those categories into 45’s column. We have to understand what they did, this time, in order to keep them from doing it again.
10Tell her to tweet @Trump_regrets or one of those other acounts. Maybe she can find some sympathy there.
11Well, there were hats saying “Make America Great Again.” That about as deep into issues as some people go.
And while it is tragic that people are so ignorant and misinformed (I cannot understand why they bother to vote), I also blame the Dems for being incredibly poor at messaging.
The Repubs had hats and emails and went to town with them. The Dems had real issues and mostly managed to bore people. Dems do too much explaining and too much looking at multiple sides of an issue.
Dems need hats. We can start with “Medicare for All.”
Of course, that might lose the politicians contributions from the corrupt health care industry. And what matters most to politicians is getting themselves reelected.
The core fix to our electoral process is to get the special interest money out of it.
And then the Russians.
12El Jefe, I like your contributions to the site immensely, and generally, totally agree with you. I have two nit picky complaints:
1. You constant prefacing of the word president with,” uh…(urp) ” has become irritating. It wasn’t that funny to begin with.
2.Using the phrase “Sorry, Momma” after the use of salty language works well for Juanita Jean, but just comes off as tired and borrowed coming for you. It’s her phrase and she doesn’t use it as much as you do.
So, there’s my rant. You can ignore it, and I will still read and agree with your entries.
13@Charlie – Thanks for your literary and editorial criticism. Please read my bio. You’ll see there that, no offense, I don’t care what you or anyone else thinks. I write for me, and JJ allows me to do that. Those are the only things that matter to me here. Thanks for reading.
14I really want to urge you to refer to the health uncare as something like GOPcare or RepubliCare. If it’s only hung on Orange Whore, the snacilbupeR will get off scot-free. Same with Ryancare. Putting the snacilbupeR name with it gives us better wedge and is better politics.
Personally, I like RepubliCare best.
15If this man was stupid enough to think that Donald Trump would help him, then his son’s death is a gift from Darwin.
