North Carolina No Longer a Democracy
North Carolina, after passing it’s radical gerrymandering plan and repressive voting regulations designed to make it harder to vote, has now been rated by the Electoral Integrity Project as comparable to Cuba, Sierra Leone, and Indonesia. It’s legal framework and registration restrictions position the state comparable to Venezuela and Iran. Looking at all the relevant measures, North Carolina can no longer be considered a real democracy. Welcome to the new “normal”.
Hell, our new ‘Supreme Dear Leader’ Trumpov Donnei-un is going to make all 50 US states into a giant DPRK-North Korea (with a little help from his friend Vladmir).
Complete with cultist authoritarian worshipping minions, militarism, thought police, nepotism and ‘royal’ succession (look for the new theocratic justifications in a few months), 1%’erism, continual fear, hate, etc.

2For what it’s worth, the McClatchy Newspaper chain was the only news organization in the USA to report the truth about GWB’s War Against Imaginary Weapons Of Mass Destruction. They told us from the beginning that we were being lied to, there were no WMDs. After losing 4000 troops and spending several trillion dollars, the truth came out. McClatchy was right and Bush was wrong.
History will decide the value of this op/ed piece, but I’m sticking with McClatchy.

With Senators Warren, Sanders, Booker, Chris Murphy and other Democrats, the Democratic “bench” looks promising for a Progressive emergence. With a consolidated grassroots effort, we can do this.

Trump and his thugs will waste no time clamping down on civil rights and the first amendment. He already envisions himself in charge and has tried to undermine President Obama at every turn. 8that’s amazing actually, I figured SC would be the first state to qualify as a third world dictatorship. my time living in NC, as a young child, left me with some of my best memories of childhood: the beach, time spent outdoors in the woods with my bud buck (I still remember his name, over 50 years later) hunting crawdads for steaming, just every huck finn male child’s fantasy life. of course, we were out near the banks, and the people were sane there.
9I think if we tossed TVs and the internet machine overboard, lots of us ccould just go about our lives, squishing the mud between our toes and stuffing on ears of corn and watermelon. All colors of folk like to eat that way.
My niece in N. Carolina was totally unaware of all this mess. She’s big on church and you can go on forever singing and ignore the good ol’ boys network except when the windmill gotta be fixed or sumthin.

12I don’t live in N.C.My niecc does. I aSked my sister in law what Molly thought of all this takeover in N.C. They had no idea what I was talking about. Reminds me of Germany when people could see the smoke from the prison camps and people burning. Nobody knew what was going on, or didn’t want to know. If you currently live in N.C., what is your perception? Of course it’s been going that direction with the Kochs for a lot of years.
