Trump’s America
In Texas, Burnet County Judge James Oakley was the first Republican elected to serve in that position since the Civil War and by gawd, he’s got some scores to settle about that.
First off, white Republican men need to keep their butts off social media because they keep forgetting that there’s no closed door on social media.
Also, they keep forgetting that there’s no eraser on social media. When ya say crap, somebody is gonna take a screen shot.
Which is what happened to James.
The top elected official in Burnet County commented on Facebook that it is “time for a tree and a rope” in a post regarding the arrest of the man suspected of killing San Antonio police Det. Benjamin Marconi this weekend, according to a screenshot of the Facebook post.
County Judge James Oakley issued a public apology about the comment Wednesday.
Want to see his apology?
Oakley said his comment was “off the cuff” and “indeed curt and harsh.”
Gee, I think the word he’s hunting for is … racist.
“It is for that reason that I deleted it soon after posting and apologize for not being more thoughtful and comprehensive in my expression,” Oakley said in an email.
That is NOT an apology. It’s not even a very good excuse.
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
Guys like James Oakley make me wish I hadn’t had the kind of thoughts that kept me out of the really good schools. I would have so enjoyed addressing him as “defendant”.
1He definitely looks a rich “good ol’ boy”!
2Well dang. I guess I can’t comment because all I can think of to say is words that would cause Momma to get out the bar of lye soap.
3The Previous country judge was a republican woman
4And this is exactly what is about to be inaugurated. Terrific.

6At least he’s given himself a real platform on which to show off his assets.
Where do these racists live? What kind of people think that it is OK to teach their children this horrible stuff? My family was from the Deep South, and I don’t recall ANY of them talking like this.
Shame on him.
7I saw a photo of someone at a Trump rally wearing a shirt that said, “Tree. Rope. Journalist. Some Assembly Required.” I suppose that’s not necessarily racist but it’s appalling anyway.
“The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them.” — Thomas Jefferson
8Well… I’ve got the tree and I can buy rope, but I need someone to test it… YOU, yes, you up there in the photo. C’mon down here a sec. Hey, Bubba, hold my beer…
9I suggest “judge” Oakley give the first demonstration to show us just how it works.
10@WA Skeptic
My sainted mother’s family hailed from Baldwyn, Mississippi. I have seen rampant racism there with my own 20/15 eyes. KKK in their native environment. I am not proud.
11And I forgot to mention the dragging death of James Byrd in Jasper, Texas. Racism isn’t JUST in the deepest, darkest parts of the states that treacherously revolted in 1861.
12treacherously = treasonously
spellchecker is not my friend this Black Friday morn
13Yes, his comment was ill thought out for sure. But you have understand the background of this case. Det. Marconi was shot in the head as he sat in his car after making a traffic stop. The man who did this wasn’t even involved in the stop. He approached the car and killed the officer execution style. My son-in-law is a police detective here in Texas, about 70 miles from San Antonio. Every day he puts himself at risk for this type of thing. A fellow officer was shot during a “routine” traffic stop about a year ago. Fortunately he survived. The families of these officers live with the knowledge that this could happen any day to their loved ones who are out there protecting us. Even if this perpetrator’s skin were white as the driven snow, a tree and a rope would be too good of a punishment for him, in my opinion.
14@TTPT: Hey, I agree with you. I’m all in support of law enforcement. But these RW buttholes cut their funding, training, freeze their pay and benefits, leaving departments understaffed and overworked. Then pass laws where any nutjob can get any high-powered weapon they want outgunning law enforcement. If any cop is on edge I understand. AND… if law enforcement doesn’t “clean it all up” lickety split they get criticized by the same RW buttholes who are creating the problem. Why most people don’t or refuse to see this is beyond me.
15JAKvirginia, right on. This sort of “reasoning” is akin to the denial of climate change effects and a culture of antipathy towards damn near any science and technology. It exists in rampantcy in Congress in certain committees that are pledged NOT to fund any upgrades in server security and technology in the executive departments. The other side of the same coin is the commitment by the same people to give DOD whatever it wants even when it doesn’t want it or need it! This is just the sort of thing that can doom us.
16There are many things that could be tried, but the Blue Wall needs to be cleaned out, and the PoLice need to discover that they serve at the sufferance of ALL the population.
If the police launch a racist crackdown because they misinterpret politics, those people already abused by racist police will get even more unruly. Imagine what would happen if the gangs decide to reduce the police population.
Now is not the time for crackdowns.
17Cops get bad press but some deserve it. Where I live I have called about suspicious happenings and basically been ignored. I’ve seen enough not to trust the cops here. And when they are backed by rwnj judges (using the term loosely) there is no justice. But that racist bigot has no business anywhere near a courtroom other than as the defendant. Unfortunately he was put in office by racist bigots. And they are stupid
18@Ormand: OR… how about more police who get to know the community, not less who the community hardly sees unless there’s a problem. How about more community outreach? How about going into schools to say “Hi” and not only to arrest or track down? How about stop ruining the economy and ruining communities where people get disheartened and then act out in illegal ways to survive THEN call in the cops to “do something about it”. How about stop shitting on people then call in the cops to be the cleaning crew? Dig a little deeper into the fabric of America and you’ll see the desperation. It isn’t pretty. And law enforcement knows this but… who the hell is listening to them? Not right wing politicos for sure.
19on another note, who wants to start the countdown clock to see when we find out that this fine republican family values man has been sexting 14-year-old boys?
You know it’s just a matter of time…
20Oakley needs to be “Sessioned”, ASAP. Of course then the Cheetoh-faced Ferret-wearing Shitgibbon Cocksplat will probably nominate him for SCOTUS and the snacilbupeR Senate will affirm.

22Burnet County should take care of business at home and it should be a REPUBLICAN providing the spectacle.
