My friend Pam is a damn hoot. Every convention night for the past two weeks she’s called me at about 11:00 and laughed about everything on the teevee. Pam comes from a completely different background than I do and seeing the world through her eyes has made me a better person.
My favorite thing that Pam does is that she goes to register new voters at the Houston Naturalization ceremony. She sent me these pictures this morning of brand spankin’ new Americans.

Hey RNC, maybe next time forget about polls to thin the herd if your Klown Kar is overloaded. Run those wannabe candidates through the Immigration & Naturalization process. Would have solved your Donnie Drumpf problem. No way he could navigate the system, much less pass the test.

I remember when my father took the oath. Our school excused my brother and me, so we could accompany him and my mother to the ceremony.
The first POTUS he voted for was JFK. Hasn’t been a vote cast for the GOP since.
My father left Denmark one step ahead of the Nazis. He served in both the Danish and American navies.
Drumpf’s grand father left Germany to avoid the draft.
14The newest citizen I know personally got sworn in about two weeks ago. Once I found out, I hugged her congratulations, and asked if she was registered to vote. She answered, “I registered immediately; we all did.” Thanks for your service, Pam.
15I was an election judge in 2014. A lady came into my center to vote and told us she had just come from her Naturalization ceremony. All 14 of us in the room stood and gave her a rousing applause. What make it more moving was she didn’t realize she could have walked down the hall from her ceremony to vote, but drove 25 miles across town to do so.

Making candidates pass the naturalization test in order to run sounds like an excellent thing to do. When W. was president, I was thinking, could we at least make them watch all of the schoolhouse rock videos and get some very basic knowledge before they take office? I like your idea better.
