Holy Crap: Passover in Tennessee
Blount County, Tennessee, is upstream from where they pass out intelligence.
Their Board of Commissioners is meeting this evening, and they have a doozy of an agenda. Check out #7. (Click the little one to get the big one)
In case there’s any doubt left in your mind about Tennessee, it’s about The Gays.
The Blount County Commissioners (and a dandy lookin’ bunch they are) are asking for buckets of lamb’s blood for their doors so that God won’t murder them. So the end of their resolution says this.
WE adopt this Resolution before God that He pass us by in His Coming Wrath and not destroy our County as He did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities. As the Passover Lamb was a means of salvation to the ancient Children of Israel, so we stand upon the safety of the Lamb of God to save us.
WE adopt this Resolution begging His favor in light of the fact that we have been forced to comply and recognize that the State of Tennessee, like so many other God-fearing States, MAY have fallen prey to a lawless judiciary in legalizing what God and the Bible expressly forbids.
Their God is a real jerk. And I doubt he even reads resolutions.
And one other thing is clear. They kinda want God to smite those other counties and just save theirs. I think they made God in their own image. I mean, what’s the likelihood that they both would be jerks?
Thanks to Brian for the heads up.
Thank you Tennessee for making Texas look slightly less infested with ignorant a##hats.
1OMG …
2God forgive them for they know not what they are doin”
3They will not stop – Idiots R Us~
East Tennessee is much like East Texas,
just think it was somewhere in the Pineywoods.
4I’m right next door in Knox County Tennessee. One of our Senators, Lamar Alexander is from Blount County as well. he recently refused to support Obama’s plan for free Community College tuition in the Good Ole. He is a proud supporter of the state plan here in Tennessee that Obama’s plan was modeled from, going as far as appearing at Community Colleges in Knox and Blount counties with the Governor to support the plan. Alexander’s lack of support for the national plan is appalling but unfortunately expected of him and his ilk.
5I’ll wait and see if the resolution passes before I get too slap-happy; but the phrase “lawless courts” makes me doubt the author’s understanding of how the Supreme Court works.
6Should have asked for money for the budget.
7Just another place that is on its own kind of Bataan death march!
And then again, did they start the meeting doing vodka shots?
8God will probably file that resolution with all the prayers he gets at football games.
9They always think Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of s-e-x but the Bible doesn’t say that. The rabbis say it is because they were unwelcoming to strangers.
10Oh-my-gosh…
In 34+years of government service and literally hundreds of city council and commissioners’ court agendas I ain’t never seen the like…
Just wow!
11OK, I confess. I live in Blount County, TN. I and many others are horrified and embarrassed by this. There is a movement to gather at the meeting tomorrow night. She is not my commissioner ( though I doubt mine is much better). Her constituents are not happy with her before this.
Please remember some of you have stayed in Texas with all your idiot politicians. Please do not lump all the citizens of this county into one group. I do not know of anyone who agrees with this, though I am sure there are some supporters.
There are many wonderful people here. Karen Miller and Lamar Alexander are not fully supported.
12I’d say they might oughta pray for protection from God’s wrath but not necessarily the way they have it worded.
13AliceBeth: If you go to the meeting, could you remind the commissioners of that teensy little thing in the Constitution about State being separate from Church. Yes, I know it’s just a resolution and not a law but still, I think they should know better. You strike me as an intelligent, right-minded person and they sound like they could use some adult supervision.
14Here’s a photo of her holiness! Probably still dresses and undresses in a closet, without a light!

15JAKvirginia: I assure you that people who are much better prepared and more eloquent than I are going to speak. We have some great people here. There are notices all over Facebook from the people who have experience explaining the Constitution. Not that the area is not fully populated with the reddest of conservatives with some warped Christian beliefs. Now if we can get those who think Jesus spoke the fire and brimstone in the Old Testament corrected that would be a start.
16I wish folks would spend more time reading the Bible and less time thumping it. This is a great source of rabbinic texts on “the sin of Sodom”. I find texts like to be a sharp indictment of my own country’s failing to take care of the less fortunate. “This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did abominable things before me; therefore I removed them when I saw it.”

Now if those of you who do so, would please pray for us. Not everyone in this county deserves this negative attention and humiliation.
18Funny how when liberal areas suffer it’s God’s anger, but when red areas get hit it’s just weather. I have yet to see any claims that South Carolina somehow incurred God’s wrath. Funny how different it was when New Orleans got flooded.
19AliceBeth: My thoughts are with you and the other good people in your community. Be strong.
20LynnN, funny how their god tried to punish New Orleans for all the gays and carryings on, but only managed to kill a bunch of poor people who were probably mostly not gay and couldn’t afford the carryings on. If that’s the way their god works, he’s got bad aim. If he had good aim, he’d smite the people who keep speaking on his behalf and getting it badly wrong, because they give him a bad name.
AliceBeth, good luck to you and the sane people of Blount County. You might point out the things that Jesus DID condemn while he was saying nothing whatsoever about the gays: mostly he was down on not helping the poor. Oh, and divorce and remarriage he said was equivalent to adultery, and there’s a Commandment about that. Any divorced and remarried folks on your board?
21Rhea, I do not know their personal histories and feel they have no business knowing mine. I have been married to the same guy for 36 years, he had been married before. I do know that one commissioner had some legal problems a few years ago….embezzling…but he found God so “all is forgiven”. Well, I have not forgiven him. They are all Republicans….as are our
governor, senators….you get the picture.
I suspect that some of them are past a first marriage, just statistically.
Thanks to you and JAKvirginia for the kind words and thoughts.
22Dear ___,(fill in the blank with deity of your choice) Please deliver Alicebeth from the evil kristapo. Thank you. epo
23I’ve lived in Blunt County, Tennessee for 25 years. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of the nutty stuff these yahoos do in the name of Gauwd. Each summer a bunch of the local khristians set up a tent on the front lawn of the county court house and read bible scriptures. For days on end. Think tent revival and you’re almost there. They really get their rocks off on the idea of poking a big thumb in the eye of separation of church and state.
24I always wonder what these people are going to do or say when their Big Invisible Sky Boohoo fails to smite the enemy they’ve chosen same thing for those who claim the end of the world is nigh. Maybe they’ll be like the Millerites, set a new date, and just keep on keeping on.
25Apparently shortest meeting ever….could not approve an agenda and meeting dismissed. Hopefully sane people will prevail. Have not yet talked to anyone who was in the courthouse….will let you know when I can. My wish for Ms Miller to be verbally smacked down has not happened…..
26AliceBeth – thank you for being our foreign correspondent. Do we need to send hazardous duty pay?
27Thanks JJ, but since I did not actually attend, I do not qualify. I am following those who did on Facebook and they promise an update when available. I am hoping the other commissioners are slapping her around privately, but I am sure some agree with her. There is a good bit of fanatic fundamentalism around here.
Please assure every one that there are rational people here and if anyone is ready to write off the whole area, please remember that the spectacular Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park…..is in this county.
A friend just called who attended and she said there were outside “Christian” protesters from NC.
