So Deeply Sad

October 01, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

All I heard on CNN Breaking News on my iPhone was that there had been a shooting at a college in Oregon.

The Beauty Shop has a customer who is friend of mine who teaches at Oregon State.  I pulled the car over and with trembling hands found CNN online with my phone.  I felt immediate relief that it wasn’t at her school, but once the full impact of this horror hit me and it was a while before I felt able to safely drive again.

I am certain that nothing will change.  Not a damn thing.

Once this country decided that we could bear the cold blooded massacre of our small innocent children, the fight for gun control was over.  Guns won.

Yeah, I am bitter.

  1. Shooter is being reported to be dead after shoot out with law enforcement. Also, a screen cap of the shooter revealing his plan for this morning’s beta uprising aka killings.

the EU news already reported that his personal hero was the other mass killer beta male who couldn’t get a date, Elliot Rogers, who killed students in Santa Barbara, CA. Here is the screen cap of his online post of last night. He was being prodded to kill and cheered on by fellow posters last night.

He did say he’d have a thread this morning which has not surfaced, yet.

  2. Sadly, JJ, I have to agree with you. I keep waiting for a “Matt Shepard” moment, an event so horrific that American can no longer bear the weight of the ongoing slaughter of innocents. A moment when we ask ourselves, “What have we become? How did this happen?” … and we finally put a stop to it. But after Newtown, nothing changed.

  3. Apologies for double posting! The shooter is still not being identified other than 20 years old (he’s white)

….while flipping to cable news networks….every single TV news talking head has babbled on about mental illness. Not one has dared to mention guns, guns and more guns. Of course, they don’t dare mention that a killer could have a personal agenda inspired by the usual suspect: choreographed rhetoric that beta males feast upon.

  4. I HATE THIS!

I want to find Wayne LaP, and every other ammosexual and beat the holy living S%$T out of them until I can’t lift my arms any more and my tears have stopped.

    I HATE THEM!!!!!

  5. update: The shooter at Umqua Community College in Oregon on Thursday ordered students in a classroom to state what their religion was before he opened fire

Am still reeling having read the purported shooter’s online posts last night when he announced his plan for today….other posters even told him what type of gun to use and how to herd victims.

  6. I agree, Susan – so sad.

From what we’ve heard, was it only the shooter and law officers firing guns? I do hope there weren’t anymore guns being fired by “good guys.” More bullets flying only increase the odds of innocents being maimed or killed.

US media response to mass shootings in this country: 1. “We don’t have all the facts yet.” 2. It was a “lone gunman.” 3.”No one could have predicted this would happen.” 4. “Gun control would not have prevented this tragedy.” 5 “It is too soon to discuss the political ramifications–we need to respect grieving of those who lost loved ones.” 6. “That is old news.”

    7
  8. Ding, ding, ding…it’s the victims fault they’re dead.

Raw Story reports: 90 minutes after shooting “CNN military analyst Rick Francona says …. the shooter had chosen the location because it was a gun free zone.”

  13. Linda Phipps says:

I am watching Obama speaking about this tragedy. This offense. This brazen outcome of the American love affair with unlimited access to guns. Put this solidly in the lap of the GOP and their handlers, the Tea Party. There, I have made it political.

    13
  14. Don’t know how gun manufacturers, ammo makers, NRA, lobbyists, Repugs and Democrats who voted against the tighter gun restrictions can live with themselves. There has to be an uprising of moral minded people to stop this: A march on Washington, sit-ins at the offices of congressmen, political disobedience in every city and town, shout downs of crazies like Cruz and company, refusal to pay taxes…anything to let the government know we want it stopped NOW.

    14
  15. BegoniaBuzzkill says:

GO OBAMA!! (paraphrasing) Since I can’t do it alone, when you vote, check to see if who you are voting for is representing your views on gun violence/control. He did state the majority of the population wants gun control but it’s politicians not representing what the public wants.

News host: “clearly we have never seen the President act like this.” Now newsie is rehashing how the NRA quashes a politician who dares to protect America in America.

Clearly President Obama is super pissed … he’s tired of apologizing to families because some nut job has killed their children or their husband or wife or some other relative or friend who happens to go back to school!!

But as he stated: I can’t do it alone!

That states have to come together to work in concert with everyone else in order to get gun laws in place!! And he did lay it right in the lap of Congress … Now let’s see what they do!!

The board is famous for its stories of social awkwardness and nostalgia of the simpler times, as well as discussion of abnormal social behaviour. It is heavily used by NEETs[4] (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) who regret their life decisions and hold anger and disdain over males with active social and sexual lifes. it also containts Constant discussions about relationships with females and family. Dispite all of this, the board holds heavy pride in its own nature, with heavy hate over normies or “Normalfags” who do not understand their culture as well as constant calls for a “Beta Uprising”. this has spawned different memes.

If this idiot posted his plans online last night, and many commenters supported his plan, why didn’t one – just ONE – person report him to the authorities? Was there no one who cared enough about innocent people being in his line of fire? I’m sure the FBI would have been able to track him down electronically and get him before he caused this horror 🙁

SUSAN: Just found this on Facebook:

Ta-dah!! The republican B.S. machine is already on top of the Umpqua shooting, spreading this lying crap on Facebook, to turn it political.
Nice work, right wing…..you’re just disgusting.

Shooting people because they (as far as you know) don’t agree with your religious beliefs–guns should not be available to idiots.

    23
  24. Marcia…Twitter’s rampaging uber-Christians are claiming it is they who were targets of the shooter. (the dog whistle they’re primal shrieking = shooter is Muslim)

Their gist is that Christians were shot in the head, non-Christians were shot in the legs. Curiously, they suddenly seem to think being sent to meet the maker is a bad thing.

I did read an article in geek news that mentioned the shooter’s cohorts in his chat room of last night and about their group mindset in general is extreme hostility towards men who are employed, educated, sexually active & have a social life ….Today the cohorts created false twitter accounts to confuse the police with false reports of who and where the shooter was as it was happening.

  26. AliceBeth says:

All of these deaths including the shooter can be blamed on Wayne LaPierre and any elected official who refuses to accept that we are responsible for mental health care and for glorifying guns. We as a nation should be ashamed.

Sandridge, as long as they start the whole evolution thing over from the beginning, I’m in agreement.

  28. Marge Wood says:

There’s always a crazy with a gun. What is wrong with the readers who cheered him on? Don’t they understand that dead is like, permanent? You think maybe they have lost the barrier between reality and fantasy?

    28
  29. Also reading the “mind” of the NRA-ers, as in, “its all the school’s fault. They are the perfect places for so many people to be gathered together to provide the perfect killing field.” This I deduced as i thought way back to when middle school kids were bringing grandpa’s gun to school and shooting other kids. I think it just grew from there to high schools like the one in Colorado and on and on to Virginia Tech and then the rest of these schools. Churches are also perfect gathering places that make killing fields (Mother Emmanual) so that is why the ammosexuals keep rolling along. Its not the guns and the ammo they have. Its all those people daft enough to go to school or church.

    29
  30. charles r. phillips says:

I think the heart of the matter is, that the GOP, NRA, Tea-Baggers, etc are all busily playing down this shooting the same way they’ve been minimizing the killing and beating of young Black people. At first, there’s something wrong with the victim… they resisted, they were in a gun-free zone, or something.

Then they say it’s just one bad apple, an abhoration, not statistically important.

In no case is it a systemic problem with guns, or police hiring and training, or God forbid, the radicalization of certain segments of society. In this way, they, the GOP, NRA, and Tea Baggers, can evade the blame and keep spewing hate, division, and violence towards those who don’t agree.

    30
  31. Sam in San Antonio says:

It’s hard to believe that the monsters who run this state are still insistent on putting guns on campus. Wonder how laPierre and others like him would react if a member of their family was a victim in one of these tragedies?

    31
  32. AlanInAustin says:

Immediately upon the shooting, those with common sense pointed out that once again Americans are falling victim to their own gun laws. Nearly as quickly, Republicans were right there screaming how liberals were “dancing in the blood of the victims”.

Well, folks, you know we have a name for that dance. It’s called “The Benghazi”. And if Republicans can do that dance for several years and spend tens of millions on doing it, then they can just STFU while saner heads spend some time figuring out how we can make this country safer. (Once upon a time – somewhere – there was a political party which stated that the primary job of the President was to keep the country safe. How odd that these very same heads now want to keep that from happening.)

    32
  33. Dan Hodges, British commentator for the Telegraph, the Spectator and Total Politics, wrote this on Twitter earlier this year:
“In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.”

    Proved true once again today.

    33
  34. Ellen Childress says:

Does anyone think we have to look very far for the perpetrators, supporters, instigators, etc. of this kind of mass killing? This country appears to be a roiling, foul mass of maggots called KKK, neo-nazi, skinhead, mentally deranged, racist, sexist, zealot, anti-anything that appears to be good, peaceful, intelligent life on earth and that includes every form of life that calls this planet home. What gags me is hearing the shooters made out to be a victim of mental illness or drug use. The victims are the people who were killed and their families. We not only have no sane , free, effective way to control gun purchases and to treat mental illness in this country, we coddle those who need it the worst and try to make excuses for their insane, irrational, murderous behavior while selling more and more guns against the will of most of the citizens of this country, even those who are gun owners.

    34
  35. charles r. phillips says:

    For Ellen…

    The Road Not Taken
    BY ROBERT FROST

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    35
  36. This is all so sad. The fact that politicians will now be spinning this every which way and what but if the below is true then there is no spinning. This isn’t a war against Christianity, this isn’t a war against gun rights. This is a war against sanity.

The Daily Beast reported that a MySpace page bearing Chris Harper Mercer’s name featured an image of him holding a gun, as well as images of Irish Republican Army propaganda. The website also reported that Mercer created an online dating profile that listed “organized religion” as one of his “dislikes”. The profile also described Mercer’s political views as “conservative, republican.”

    36
  37. Marcia in CO says:

@ SUSAN: I humbly apologize to you … this morning I am seeing time and time again the account that this maniac did, indeed, request students to stand if they were Christian and that they would soon meet God … and then he shot them.

One young lady who was shot, played dead when he called out to her has, thankfully, survived and was able to recount this very fact to her father.

And, too, the body count has dropped from 13 down to 10 … still horrible, but thank God the count dropped … as did the number of injured from 20 down to 7.

If all of the States can convene with all their Reps and if the NRA will work with all of them, perhaps they can actually come up with a workable solution to create gun control laws that will actually work! Someone has to come up with solutions that actually work!!

You said, in part, “we coddle those who need it” (“sane, free, effective way” … “to treat mental illness in this country” ) the worst and try to make excuses for their insane, irrational, murderous behavior”.

    I’m with you. Great quote.

And not only do we not treat and but coddle, the Tea Party controlled GOP encourages some of the most insane, irrational ones to run for public office, including POTUS.

Nothing will be done to solve the gun madness until children of Tea Party adherents, Republicans, and NRA leadership are gunned down. And even then there’s no guarantee. The lust for guns has become a cancer on this society.

    41
  42. Today they asked Jeb Bush to weigh in – “I had this challenge as governor—look, stuff happens. There’s always a crisis. The impulse is always to do something and it’s not necessarily the right thing to do.” “and I don’t think more government is necessarily the answer to this,”

  43. @ Marcia in CO

No apology needed at all, my friend. We’re all like minded… hoping to find that magic remedy to make our agonized psyche and our world less horrific. When the news is new, there will be a flurry of info coming at us so we can only share what we are seeing as we surf and seek online then wait for verification. Am of the opinion that most of us are relieved when something horrific is deemed a hoax.

Si finis bonus est, totum bonum erit ♥

    43
  44. 24 hours later and all I can say is the Rethugs still don’t get it and are still functioning with their political tin ears. The President wasn’t be “political”. He was manifesting righteous indignation. Thanks to the ammosexuals, this country has been turned into a free range shooting gallery and we all of us are ducks! But that doesn’t matter to the Rethugs and their ilk. Their favorite color is red, blood red.
