Don’t Cry For Me, Bobby Jindal
I predicted that Bobby Jindal would be the next Republican to face the devastating fact that they can’t get elected President.
What I didn’t predict was this horror. (Warning: What you are about to read contains disturbing facts and information.)
Willie Robertson, star of the A&E reality show “Duck Dynasty,” has thrown his support behind real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump, reversing his earlier endorsement of fellow GOP presidential hopeful Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.).
I know. Shocking. What’s Jindal supposed to do with all his camo attire now?
So far, he’s in denial. His campaign posted this on Facebook.
Nope. Not happening.
“I do like me some Trump, I’ve got to admit,” Robertson said on Friday at the Oklahoma State Fair, where Trump held a campaign event.
When that’s the biggest endorsement you’ve got, can total wreckage be far behind?
Thanks to Sharon for the heads up.
Anybody else old enough to remember when right-wingers used to rant against the use of the U.S. flag as an article of clothing? I guess Willie Robertson and his clan of businessmen relatives—who hit it big by disguising themselves as a bunch of in-bred “Deliverance” predators—changed all that. The Robertson clan and Trump deserve one another….
1Yes, Steve, I remember that quite clearly. Then, it was the “damned hippies” and they were reviled for it. Now, it’s the right’s alleged god-fearing patriots who drape themselves in the flag and all of a sudden that’s okay. And you hit the nail on the head when you said the Duck Dynasty clan disguise themselves as in-bred hicks. What a scam they’ve pulled off.
2Plato said “Be what you would seem.” The other side of that is if you keep disguising yourself as a Whatever, you’ll become more and more like Whatever…
3“Trump’s business acumen”? Where? He’s gone bankrupt about four times. If I’d done that I wouldn’t be touting myself as God’s gift to the American economy, but then I don’t have an ego the size of Mars.
4Wingnuts ain’t above voting twice. They know any wingnut AG would never find wingnut voter fraud.
5Of course the right wing is okay with using the U.S. flag as an article of clothing. I mean, for years they’ve been metaphorically using the Constitution to wipe themselves.
6I agree @ Rhea but the reality is what he keeps harping on. He took full advantage of the bankruptcy laws. Now think about it. He, personally, did not file for bankruptcy. His business entities, be they corporately structured or partnerships and the latest iteration of PC, LLC or Ltd took the hits. More than likely reporting with K-1s. He was able to hide behind that corporate structure and not lose a damn thing along with his ‘investors’. Investing in the stock of the company can be a low as $100 for shareholders. Now, look at the then ‘K-1 losses’ he was able to take on his personal income taxes and you really see the twisted value there.
7@JaneE – Good point. When Trump brags about his wealth, he claims that everything is his. But when a business of his goes down the tubes, it’s somebody else’s.
8The kiss of death.
9If Trump was actually smart, he would fine all those “people” who would endorse him and pay them to stay zipped up in the cave. With endorsers like them, who needs enemies?
10Well, it looks like Trump is sewing up the reality show addict constituency. Hopefully, they’ll stay parked on their arses in front of the TeeVee, instead of going to vote, or even mailing in a ballot.
God help us if they ever decide to let us text it in.
11I want to address the “not using flag as an article of clothing.” I’m not seeing them using a real flag to create an article of clothing (unlawful); I’m seeing them using an article of clothing that is decorated with flag-like imagery (lawful). There is a big difference.
