George Pee
George P Bush, son of a Bush named Jeb, got himself elected Land Commissioner in Texas, a job that pays $137,500.
And he immediately forgot to go to work. He has been out of state or otherwise off of work nearly half the time since his dad announced for President. He’s heading up some Youth for Bush things.
While it is not unusual for presidential candidates to take time off to travel the country, it is rarer for surrogates to do so – especially when they are in their first year in elected office and attempting to overhaul an agency that oversees 13 million acres of state public land and the sale of mineral rights to generate billions of dollars for schools.
Well, so he has two jobs (1) Texas Land Commissioner, and (2) getting his dad elected President. In the Bush family tradition, the boy’s failing at both.
Thanks to Craig for the heads up.
He must have gone to the Kim Davis School of Management.
Get a public job, then don’t do the parts you don’t feel like doing.
1Is he “George!” like “JEB!”
2More like “PEE!”
3What a waste of tax money, just like ole Kim.
I like your use of Pee. Someone elsewhere remarked that ‘Jeb” is a Czech obscenity related to what the GOP has been doing to the country for years. 😀
4I take issue with the article. George Pee is not and never was “attempting” to overhaul an agency that oversees 13 million acres of state public land and the sale of mineral rights to generate billions of dollars for schools. Or anything else, for that matter.
The last thing he attempted to do was get elected. Nothing since. I promise. In the Bush family, getting elected is the be-all end-all of the enterprise. After that, it’s coast till election time rolls around again. He’s upholding a proud family tradition don’tcha know.
5You ever get the feeling that grifters like this Bush guy yell ‘SUCKERS’ at the voters, when they get elected?
6When a Bush gets elected to anything these days, he thinks he can just settle back in the saddle and take it easy. Maybe Papa and his daddy did better, but his kids and them are a waste of space or worse.
Well, Pee may be sucking on the taxpayer’s teat and giving nothing back, but at least he hasn’t started any stupid wars. Yet.
7Looks like I’m a little late…
8The difference between the dimwit Kim & dimwit Pee is????
In military dereliction of duty is a possible firing squad, sounds like a good idea! For congress Too???
We maybe oughta mention that to the AUSTIN AMERICAN STATESMAN who is proud of the fact that they are promoting Republicans for President. How about Republicans that don’t go to work?
9‘Family Values’, ‘Personal Responsibility’, ‘Work Ethic’…just empty words thrown out as bait to the faithful.
10The average idiot Repuke just swallows all that bullcrap whole and begs for more.
On the other hand George Pee is just following in the illustrious footsteps of his infamous uncle George W the Lesser, who bailed out on his military obligations at Ellington (some say deserted), and went to Aladamnbama or somewhere to work on a political campaign for about a year.
11No wonder the Bushes are so rich: money for nuthin’ and the chicks are free.
12Yes, and the Alabama GOP ladies reported that W. wasn’t much use to them–showing up usually around noon and hung-over.
13Kim Davis is a piker compared to Pee. $80,000 vs. $137,500. Damnit! Why can’t I find jobs like that?
14George Pee has been busy taking control of the Alamo away from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas who have managed it for over 100 years. Now that the Land Office has control he is busy trying to take away ALL the papers, maps, books, artifacts and any other memorabilia deeded to them over the years.

15George Pee is doing his job; padding his resume in anticipation of running for higher office. Thus carrying on the Bush family tradition of being a fungal growth on the body politic.
16A real working politician would also be doing some actual work, and forging contacts and alliances. But the Bushes already have so much of that in place, the 3rd generation can coast and still possibly attain mediocrity.
Rosemary in Indiana,
Actually, if you compare what ‘should be’ the scope of the two positions, Kimmie-dear is grossly overpaid, while I’d consider the TX Land Commissioner job a bit underpaid (but only for someone actually doing the job). Texas is a big place, and the state has vast land holdings (with plenty of room for chicanery of all kinds).
Crazy Quilter,
17Good to point that little maneuver out.
Georgie Pee has been busy pandering to veterans (and vet groups) heavily too.
All while contriving to stay in the public eye just the right amount, you can almost see the hidden political positioning hands and money at work with this one (ala KKK Rove).
Gawd hep us all if this one moves up…
Does Texas have a little Hatch Act that forbids state employees from working on campaigns? It’s a firing offence in many states. Just saying.
18This Bush stuff has got to end…
My gawd it’s like cockroaches or bedbugs…
