Me Tarzan. You Not.
Okay, let’s head on down to that bastion of enlightenment, Perryville, Missouri.
The school board was meeting in closed session when board member Mark Gremaud didn’t agree with board member Nancy Voelker and expressed his disagreement by saying, “Kathy, you are just a woman, the only thing you know is laying on your back with your legs in the air splayed.”
Apparently board member Gremaud prefers the missionary position. Despite that …
The council voted 4-3 to censure Gremaud, and also requested that he resign from his position.
Here’s the deal.
Okay, so now you gotta wonder which three think it’s pretty much okay that one school board member speak to another school board member about preferred sexual positions and her role in that. I’m figuring the guy speaking is one of them. I’m going the with guy with the creepy grin second from the left and the guy on the end with the weird beard.
Thanks to Marge for the heads up.
I would actually give odds on the shortest man. His position and the woman in front of him just registers to me as “off” for this picture. Everyone else is more in 3/4 profile with a touch of personal space. She may have that as her natural posture but strikes me as leaning away from him a bit.
1Apparently the “just joking” excuse flew with three of the idiots. Republicons are seriously humor challenged, when they cannot distinguish between verbal assault, sexual harassment edition, and a joke.
One can draw a couple of conclusions about those ‘manly’ studs. Either they were too wimpy to have served in the military, or too st00pid to have learned from any of the social action seminars the military provides.
2That sort of commentary would have started an all out war in my home territory, even years ago before women’s equality became a cornerstone. Frankly, the fact that he didn’t at least get smacked upside the head screams reams about the guts available to the other “gentlemen” in the room. I want to hear more about the fall-out. Did Mister Horspuckey at least lose his library card?
3After I picked my jaw up off the desk — amazing that these glassbowls can still shock me — I noticed how icky it is that he’s standing next to her in the photo. I find myself wanting her to give him an elbow to the gut.
JJ’s description is slightly unclear. Nancy Voelker, head of the board (I’m astonished again), reported a remark that the glassbowl had made to the other female member of the board, Kathy Carron.
4And here, Ladies and Gentlemen, are the folks supporting The Donald.
5I’ve had folks use rude talk to me before but not in a meeting. Sheesh.
6Another thought — prior to each meeting, everybody has to pass a breathalyzer test.
7Star is correct Weilbrect, voted against censure. Where these people are in charge of your children’s future.
8The vote was only 4-3?
9By the time a board member would say something graphic enough to be censured by his peers, they’d change the subject, start fighting over how to define pornography, and guaranteed nothing would get done about it.
10In my youth, a man who said that to a woman, esp. in a school board meeting, would’ve had a fist in his kisser right then and there from other men on the Board, and a very unpleasant and up close meeting with her nearest male relative as soon as word spread. It might be said *about* a woman out of the hearing of all women and that woman’s closest male relatives, but not ever *to* a woman, in mixed company, or in an official meeting.
Where I grew up, in South Texas, a public, mixed-company, to-her-face implication that a woman was morally loose was…illegally but actually…something for which the woman’s father or husband or brother took care of the offender and then went to the sheriff and said “It was an affair of honor.” And the sheriff would have said “Yeah, you’re right, it was.”
Gremaud is a cad.
11And if Jeff Weilbrecht wanted Board members to “act like grownups” he shouldn’t be praising the one who acted like a badly-brought up teenager.
12Interestingly enough, the Chamber of Commerce is having a “women’s networking” meeting on the 9th, guess they’ll have something to talk about. Of course, when I clicked on the link it said server not found……
E.M.: grownups indeed! Humph!
PS, for y’all from foreign states, Perryville is in S.E. MO, Rush Limbaugh’s home turf.
13Sitting here just shaking my head. At the guy for saying that, and at the three people who voted to keep him. Words fail.
14Now, if everybody just had kept their mouth shut, we could have handled this without all the fuss…kept it quiet among ourselves. Sort of like “boys will be boys” and the way rape is handled on college (and high school) campuses.
15Just like racism, sexism is alive and well and living in the hearts of “proud Americans”. He just confirmed the Rethug philosophy of white male dominance.
16OK
Since they voted to censure, the majority doesn’t believe in this nonsense. That more than the loose lipped loser believes his statement, to a colleague, was somewhat acceptable says volumes about the type of person that community allows to direct the education of their future.
Damn, I long for the days when that fool would’ve been laughing off a horse whipping….
17Would like to say I am astounded by this kind of behavior but, sadly, that is no longer the case. Still amazed that three people found this cretin’s remarks acceptable.
18Board members Jeff Weibrecht and Kevin Bachmann on Tuesday took up for Gremaud, explaining the remark was made during “heated debate” in closed session, and that Gremaud already apologized and tried to explain it wasn’t meant to be sexual in nature.
Not sexual in nature? Maybe he should have suggested she buy a vase and then wouldn’t have to spend time on her back with legs splayed when someone gave her flowers. 🙂
19Asshole. Sorry, mom.
20e platypus, that was horrible and I’m ashamed that I laughed so hard.
21Well, let’s see… the vote was 4 to 3, so 7 board members voted… and there are 7 board members in that picture. This seems to indicate that Mr. Gremaud was allowed to vote on whether he should be censured.
I guess that in addition to providing role models to the students on how adults should act, the school board is also providing valuable lessons to the students in moral behavior, such as avoiding conflicts of interest.
22Too bad this happened in closed session. Would love to see the facial expressions in the video!
23One of the first things I noticed (with my jaw clenched shut and steam coming out of my nose and ears) was that the guy (I dare not call him a man) on the far right, was not only “dudded-up” like a lost soul from the 19th Century, but that his name happens to be Bachmann! Wouldn’t surprise me if he had relatives in a certain Midwestern state! (Couldn’t help myself–just had to be snarky, despite the very serious nature of this situation!)
Overall, it disgusts me that only ONE of these jerks had the cajones to vote in favor of censure! To whichever of these guys who is the REAL MAN, I salute you! You’re a credit to your state. (Ironically, the “Show Me State”.)
Gremaud sounds like an uneducated Neanderthal, and to imagine that he ever was in a classroom teaching children of any age is frightening. He needs to be more than censured or asked to resign. He needs to be kicked out, preferably by the two women on the board. He also needs to be stripped of any teaching credential he might have!
24(Still at my desk “screaming at the photo” here in SoCal.)
RepubAnon-Grizwald was censured so he cannot participate in meetings, but is allowed to vote with hand signals. I assume that is how he got to vote for himself. I will see if I can find that article again and post it here. Your patience is appreciated. 🙂

I found it,I found it!
26Rhea-it was bad. The original “dumb blonde” joke was funnier but Prolly not appropriate with all these fine upstanding women here. My apologies to anyone/everyone offended-if anyone bothered to read that post. 🙂
27I can’t even sputter coherently about this. That cocks**ker!
28His wife must be so proud.
Assuming he has one, and not just a stack of sticky magazines.
