2015: Republicans March … Uh, Backwards

December 30, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

There are a couple of signs that Republicans are not looking forward to 2016 or even to 2015.

First, we will scamper over to the nuthouse blog “American Thinker,” where of course all the thinking is done by someone else.  These good folks put all their thinking skills together and have awarded “American achiever of 2014” to … (the envelope, please) … Sarah Palin.

What?  We wasted an envelope on that?

Personally, I thought she was a shoe-in for the American Kickboxing title.

And next we have the Republican National Committee.

The Republican National Committee is making a year-end push to peddle red and blue “Reagan/Bush ’84” shirts for $27. The shirts are a “throwback to the days of strong, principled leadership in the White House,” the committee says.

Hummm … 1984.  Is George Orwell on line 1?

Yeah, yeah, that’s the Bush we want you to remember.  The Vice President one who didn’t do anything.  Forget those other Bushes.

Thanks to Carl and Fred for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. Polite Kool Marxist says:

    DNC tweets RNC: thank you.

We need graphics; something sweet about George and Jeb, the two roses and the thorn in the middle, Dubya.

Say what? Forget Dubya? That’s a little hard to do with Darth Cheney out there with his Sunday storm-trooper sideshow.

  2. Sarah Palin has achieved something? Did she have another baby? Bake muffins, maybe?

Or was it getting into a drunken brawl at a party she wasn’t invited to? Yeah, probably that’s what impressed American Thinker. She slugged somebody.

So I guess those of us who achieve something without violence aren’t really achievers, because gosh, if we didn’t have to slug somebody to get it, it just kind of fell into our hands without effort.

    Bah, humbug.

    2
  3. good grief. and I betcha someone will try to sell those as from the original uh, campaign.

  4. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Marge Wood, relax, enjoy your coffee and let your fine mind drift to the bounty the RNC has bestowed upon us. Imagine the bumper stickers!

    Nothing says Reagan/Bush like Iran-Contra

We Remember Dubya … that’s not a good thing

Jeb Loves Obamacare for Jeb Profits

  5. Huh. Yeah, and sponsored classes in public schools. They do, here in Austin.

    5
  6. I heard Sarah is also a finalist for the Little Lebowski Rural Achievers 2014.

Not just for city folks anymore.

    6
  7. Shouldn’t that be ‘Merican Thinker? (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=merican)

    Or possibly “Stinker?”

    7
  8. Ah, yes – let’s celebrate the Great Con Artist. Remember the glory days, when selling arms to Iran to support terrorists and drug smugglers in Central America (er, I mean “freedom fighters”) was considered a good thing.

As for his sidekick RINO Bush – didn’t he raise taxes? Isn’t that why he lost to Bill Clinton?

But then, Republicans are all about melting down the Golden Calf to create a Golden Reagan to worship.

  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Marge Wood, is the “they” the Bushes and RNC in Austin schools?

Lookee here. Jeb had his nose in New York, too. “During this time, there was also her fundraising gala at Cipriani’s, hosted by Jeb Bush and attended by many known wealthy supporters including those in the media. They raised millions upon millions of dollars while bashing de Blasio for trying to attack Moskowitz personally by denying her space.”

Jeb’s been a busy boy. Like the proverbial cockroach, he needs some illumination.

  10. Soooooo… the RNC found some NIB t-shirts from ’84, and rather than sell ’em on ebay for fitty cents each they’re selling them off to their base, apparently cause the base has more dollars than sense and will pony up 54 times more than they’re worth. Wow! I got real estate I’d like the RNC to “market” for me.

  11. Ralph Wiggam says:

    What? No Nixon/Agnew shirts?

    11
  12. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Ralph Wiggam, if Jeb does run, we need Bush/Cheney shirts with ‘appropriate’ graphics to refresh the American memory.

    12
  13. As to those t-shirts, I’ll wait until the Republican presidential candidate debates start. After the RNC sees what they have to run against Hillary, they’ll be silk screening a batch of “Mourning In America” shirts.

    13
  14. Ralph Wiggam, Nixon’s slogan in ’72 was “Nixon Now.” I heard there was someone going around cutting the w’s off bumper stickers.

What comes to mind when I see a Bush campaign sign is someone’s story about their slightly demented grandmother seeing a BUSH sign in the middle of a big house’s yard and remarking, “You’d think they could afford an *actual* bush.”

    14
  15. So they are still invoking St. Ronnie to help them. Pity he’s shy of the requisite miracles.

    15
  16. @Rhea
There were other Tricky Dicky bumper stickers as well.
    “Re-elect Nixon in ’72
Don’t change *icks in the middle of a screw!”

  17. Marge Wood says:

I don’t know who sponsors the classes in public schools here. In one middle school there was a wonderful computer lab with all sorts of goodies and is part of a three year program with not only basic computer science but animation and all sorts of things, and a science classroom that the teacher announced to the kids that it was sponsored. She never would tell me by whom so I finally gave up. We weren’t like best friends. After all, this was right after the zillion dollars cuts in public education here in Texas. And grandson threatened all sorts of retaliation if I didn’t quit talking to his teachers. I mean I didn’t spit or nuthin’. Some kids don’t know when they’re lucky.

    17
  18. Marge Wood says:

Remember, by the time we hear about anything it’s pretty much a done deal. And I’m with the Demented Grandma. Plant a real Bush. They cost lots less and are less dangerous.
