  1. Peace and relaxation…

    1
  2. Hair dryers? Really? Does Texas politics really need more hot air?
    😀
Be safe and have a happy, y’all!

    2
  3. W. C. Peterson says:

A cold beer and an empty schedule. Ho, Ho, Ho, yerownself.
Leaves are all raked and the snow blower is gassed up and ready to go.

    3
  4. Santamazon brought me a decent computer yesterday.

    4
  5. I got a bicycle for Hanukkah, because I’m all grown up now.

    5
  6. Got an upgraded system on computer. Now I will be able to do more of damn near everything. Figured I had to do this in plenty of time for the 2016 Hillary campaign.

What do I want for Christmas? Well, it just might be as simple as a decent cup of coffee!

    6
  7. I got a Keurig coffee maker and the flu. *Cough*

    7
  8. Lorraine in Spring says:

All the boys are going to their mum’s house this year so we get a cheap, quiet Christmas. Perhaps we’ll take a short trip to San Antonio to my favorite store – El Mercado and breakfast at Magnolia Pancake Haus.

Wishing everyone at here at TWMDBS a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe, Happy, and Healthy 2015!

And a special Thank You to all, especially to Susan, Bubba, Momma & Truman for making my 2014 mentally survivable!

    8
  9. We are heading for Texas tomorrow. I’ve already had “the talk” with my spouse about how he will need to behave so that he doesn’t get shot for acting all Yankee & Democratlike. (He’s much less subtle than I.)

    9
  10. My dh got me a box of 75 fat quarters. That’s just over 18 yards of beautiful 100% cotton quilting material. I am a beginning quilter and it’s the best present I could have received.

    10
  11. That Other Jean says:

Santa (who looks suspiciously like my husband) brought me my first smartphone and a bolt of bleached muslin (I quilt). I wished myself an early merry Christmas with a new Kindle Paperwhite. It’s nice not to have to hunt up a clip-on light in order to read in bed.

Good luck with your new hobby, Scorpie! Quilting is addictive, and there’s no such thing as too much fabric.

    11
  12. 1smartcanerican says:

Santa brought me a Windows Surface Pro 3 and I am one happy camper now! I’m hoping for the magical keyboard that connects to iOS, Android, and Windows bluetooth-ily 🙂 That way I can write messages on my tablet, my phone, and my iPod should I wish to do that. I love these kind of choices!

I hope everyone here has a wonderful holiday season with their favorite people, and some not so favorite thrown in for spice!

    12
  13. Miss Prissybritches says:

We rescued not just ONE, but TWO dogs…to replace the two whose bodies sadly gave out in October. The pandemonium these young dogs are creating….oh my…. We had to put down a 16 1/2 year old Shih Tzu, then our 8 year old Cabo Hound succumbed to congestive heart failure… having a couple of frisky pups around is a joy. One forgets.

My husband went into the local SPCA on Wednesday afternoon to get our new little Shih Tzu neutered, and came home with a half Schnauzer, half standard Poodle in tow, after she got returned from its second adoption. She’s a wild child! Maybe it’s not too late for Santa to realize that I now probably could use a carpet steamer….

    13
  14. Felicitations of the Solstice to everyone! Here’s to the Unconquered Sun who will soon be making our days longer.

I will be spending the holiday as I spend all holidays: driving around taking care of other peoples’ cats while the people are off somewhere else. Spare a thought for those who work on Christmas, including the police, fire, and hospital folks. And if you know of any homeless animals, think about doing something to get them food and shelter and neutering, at least, or give some money to people who do. (Alley Cat Allies is a start.)

    14
  15. Corinne Sabo says:

Peace everywhere and an end to hunger and oligarchies.

    15
  16. Santa, er Highmark, brought me a super duper pacemaker with a monitor which plugs into my phone and relays info to the doc or the NSA, whichever is listening. Many thanks to all who sent good karma.

    16
  17. Marge Wood says:

Laughing at wonderful wreath. Thanks all!

    17
  18. Marge Wood says:

Maryelle, glad you got the Super Duper Extra Special Pacemaker with glitter, er, monitor to plug into phone so we’ll have you around a long time.

    18
  19. I got my annual piece of Bill Campbell pottery–this year’s is a beautiful tray large enough to hold a turkey.

    19
  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Reading here is bringing extra and early Christmas gifts. maryelle is already commenting post surgery. Miss Prissybritches and husband adopted two dogs.

President Obama stuck a fork in Republicans before sending them off to Christmas break. Surely just another week or maybe a minute and all those Cuban embargoes would have succeeded.

And, there’s a new Hillary musical parody. http://crooksandliars.com/2014/12/hillary-clinton-announces-w-mariah-carey

But it doesn’t top my all-time favorite Hillary songfest: http://www.flowgo.com/funny/6660_2008-hillary-president.html

    20
  21. Aggieland Liz says:

My daughter is putting up the tree and other dec and I am making lemon curd. Quarts and quarts of it! My family would kick me out if I didn’t bring it…hmmm…that may come in useful sometime! Happy Holidays y’all!

    22
  23. Awesome carol, PKM, and a most excellent ear worm…Happy Festivus to one and all!

    23
  24. Marge Wood says:

Put your address in and watch.
Experience a white Christmas in your very own yard by entering your address into http://pusher.com.au/clients/pusher-christmas-2012/
Okay, you don’t celebrate Christmas—-Do it anyway.

    And thanks, PKM! Wahoo!

    24
  25. Great lyrics, PKM. It’s a new Progressive Christmas Anthem.
Now we need some for “God Rest Ye Merry Democrats”.

    25
  26. Marcia in CO says:

Maryelle … so glad to know all went well with your surgery!!

PKM … you rival DaChipster with your lyrical prowess!!

I know I’ll be in here before next Wednesday [Christmas Eve] but I’ll wish each and every one of you fine folks a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year from Colorado!! It doesn’t look good for a white Christmas here in S. CO. I look forward to you every morning and various times during the day!!

    26
  27. Marge Wood says:

Miss PrissyB, I betcha someone might want to give you doggy etiquette classes for Christmas. You are a great woman to take in two lonesome doggy darlin’s. I’ll have to come and scratch behind their ears one of these days.

    27
  28. Congratulations to maryelle on her new pacemaker app, and long may you wave!

    28
  29. PKM, do you mind if we use your 12 days of Christmas parody to put in Christmas cards or on FB pages?

Miss Prissyb, This morning when a friend showed me a picture of her new adopted puppy, I thought about saying “Yeah, but MY FRIEND in ABILENE adopted TWO puppies!” You think I shoulda said that? No. Whew. I didn’t adopt any puppies. We have an old cat who is slowly becoming psychotic because of a visiting old dog. Olds like to be old in peace and quiet.

    29
  30. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Marge Wood, Merry Christmas, Felicitations of the Solstice, Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays; the parody is yours to use as you wish!

    30
  31. Happy Holidays, Joyeux Noel and a great New Year’s wish for you Juanita Jean and for all your faithful friends and readers.

    31
  32. Ralph Wiggam says:

Santa brought me a ticket to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival as well as the Old Settler’s Music Festival, the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, The RockyGrass Festival, Merle Fest, Del Fest, the Northwest String Summit, the Walnut Valley Festival, and the Targhee Bluegrass Festival. The mythical gift giver was quite generous with me. But then he had my credit card.

I’m having a gray wet winter but I will have a hot sunny summer full of mandolins, fiddles and banjos and dancin’ in the streets.

    32
  33. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Ralph Wiggam, Happy Holidays and wonderful anticipation of all the banjo and fiddler good times, sir!

Marcia in CO, Happy Holidays and thank you for the fine compliment accompanied by a hearty round of laughter. The day this happens: “you rival DaChipster with your lyrical prowess!!” is only less likely than the GOP becoming true compassionate conservatives. It was just my little way of sharing my joy and schadenfreude with President Obama’s ability to send the GOP into a st00pid frenzy of chasing their tails over obviously needed executive actions.

maryelle, “God Rest Ye Merry Democrats” is a wonderful idea; might give it a wag, if DaChipster hasn’t already done the perfect rendition.

    33
  34. Marge Wood says:

This is a perfect party, except Ralph, Bring Us Some Music! Lots of music! We’ll bring our drums.

    34
  35. Polite Kool Marxist says:

With apologies to the author of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and William B. Sandys and double apologies to President Obama for omitting the Mr. President in the “new” Twelve Days of Christmas. Considering the total crap the GOP has slung his way, I sincerely hope President Obama will forgive my omission in the name of rhyme and rhythm.

    God rest ye merry, democrats
    Let nothing you dismay
    Remember, Obama, our savior
Was born in Hawaii one day
To save us all from Republican power
    When we were gone astray
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray
    In Hawaii, an American state,
    This noble man was born
    And has paid the price
    Upon his electoral day
    The world his parents gave
    A man born to lead
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

    From our United States Constitution
    A man became elected
    And unto certain conservatives
    Brought tidings of shame
How that in Hawaii was born
    The President, Obama by name
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

    “Fear not then,” said Democrats
    “Let nothing obstruct his might,
This day a warrior is born
    Of a pure intelligence bright,
To free all who in trust in him
    From the religious right
To free all who trust in him
    From Republican’s sorry blight”
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

    The justices at these tidings
    Had no tricks in sight
And left the right a flailing
    In tempest and chagrin
And went to Donald straight away
    The birth certificate to find
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

And when they came to Congress
    Where our President is chief
They found him talking on the phone,
Near way the GOP lay prone
    Speaker Pelosi at his side
    Unto the GOP did say
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

    Now to Obama sing praises
    All you democrats
And with true love and brotherhood
    Each other now embrace
    This President of ours
    Who we owe our embrace
    O tidings of exploding heads
    and GOP disarray

    35
  36. Santa brought me a new serger. Miemaw’s [this one, not the other one ;)] pillow workshop has been in business already.

Maryelle, so happy about your new heart gadgets. Ain’t modern medicine grand?!

Ralph, I live just down the road from the site of Merlefest but I’ve never been. Have a rip roaring good time while you’re here.

Happy Hanukkah/Chanukah, Seasons Greetings, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel, Buon Natale, Merry Festivus (sorry if I left out anyone) all you wonderful folks at WMDBS!!! Thanks for the gifts of sanity and fun y’all have shared this year.

    36
  37. I laughed myself silly all the way through PKM’s “God Rest Ye Merry Democrats”. He even worked the birther conspiracy and Trump into it. Good for the soul, not so much for the stitches. Thank you, PKM, for the Christmas cheer.

    37
  38. Elise Von Holten says:

    “God Bless Us, Every One!”
Thank you, everyone, for the joys that you bring with your various talents.
It is such a pleasure to be associated with such a delightful crew!
May the blessing of the light in winter come to us, one and all, no matter how we celebrate it.

    38
  39. Marge Wood, thanks so much for the Pusher URL! I’m on the top floor, so my apartment isn’t visible, but the rest is perfect. That’s what I get for living up four flights of stairs.

To all at the WMDBS, I wish you joyful Solstice, happy Chanukah (I made baked vegan spinach latkes, and served them with apple/blueberry sauce and cashew sour “cream”), merry Christmas, delightful Festivus, and all the greetings of the season. Health and peace.
