And In Continuing Embarrassing Crap At Texas Universities
Oh yeah.
Well, I guess we could look at it as the Trifecta of NeoCon Bamboozlers.
We have Ken Starr at Baylor and Alberto Gonzales, who should have gone to jail, got a cushy job at Texas Tech.
There is an upside to Rice. Maybe Cheney will help her devise a student discipline plan.
Reminder: When you lay down with dogs ….
Looks like the fleas are gathering worse then ever!
1Makes me want to send my diplomas back to UT.
2But then I was there when Harry Ransom was President.
He would be spinning in his grave at the very idea of Condy Rice as a successor.
Why in the world would they want her or she want them? She already had a gig at Stanford. What? Stanford wasn’t up- market enough? Sheees!
3At least Condi has a genuine PhD. and had positions at universities prior to becoming a Bush hanger-on. I’ll bet she’d be one good fund raiser, too. Of course she has a couple of other handicaps to overcome.
4My guess is that they plan to eliminate funding for everything except football and administrator’s salaries, and need Condi Rice’s ability to make disastrous policies sound like a good idea
5Not a UT fan, academically or in any other way. Something is wrong with any public university that puts soooo much attention on such a small number of students.
6Alberto Gonzales should be in prison awaiting trial for crimes against humanity.
Rice, despite her conservative street cred, is going to have a hard time at UTexas, all things considered. And for the main reason of that, I’m sorry & ashamed that there will be people dumping on her for being female and black. For the reasons I’d dump on her, not sorry at all.
7I love it when students get riled up and yell and holler. I have a LOT of UT students as friends. Not saying I’ll help rile them up, but I will pat them on the back.
They didn’t have much to protest and yell about next semester, so this might be entertaining.
8Maybe Rice will force UofT to take dumbass dubya despite his mediocre grades.
9It has nothing to do with her being a woman or black. It has everything to do with the fact that she is a moral, intellectual, and ethical fraud. As an alum, I don’t even want her to set foot on the 40 Acres, much less work there. Bill Powers has done admirable work in increasing the reputation of The University. It will take this lying war criminal about 24 hours to destroy what Bill has accomplished. Looks like Perry’s plan is coming to fruition. But don’t worry, Aggies, he’s working mighty hard to destroy TAMU as well.

Don’t get too perturbed, unless you want to get wound up about her being on the list at all; some sip alumnus is likely talking out of turn!
11Henry, I’ve been griping about Perry’s documented efforts to destroy higher education in Texas since his first appointment to the A&M Board of Regents. That stunt the UT Board pulled on Powers was appalling! My husband has noted the lack of progress in finding a new Pres for Aggieland; I’m sure Sharp is holding it open for Perry! I wonder what they have on John Sharp…?
As far as the Condi Rice story goes, the Statesman quotes former UT Pres Lawrence, who is on the search committee and presumably is very familiar with the proceedings. And I firmly agree with both you and the person up thread: the reasons that make Ms Rice ineligible for the position are neither gender nor race related! This being Texas, however, many people will be confused -and loudly confused, at that!
12If Condi becomes president of UT I will mail back my 1969 diploma. Glen Maxey— where should I mail it?
13Get ready for some bloodletting. Condie’s backstabbing of George Tenant should be a wakeup for what to expect with her.
14linda at 13. Hey, mail that diploma to me. I’ll walk over to the west mall and burn it. (I think they only made burning draft cards illegal… don’t think UT degrees are off limits).
15Not too surprising. Right-wingers gravitate to government jobs because they hate government so much. Hardly surprising they also tend towards jobs in education.
16Stanford’s gain is Texas’s loss.
17Sorry, Longhorns, but as a Stanford alum I gotta say “YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Her besmirching of the campus was an ongoing source of embarrassment while I was there. At least our arch-rival UC Berkeley couldn’t claim moral superiority because they hired their own pet neocon, torture rationalizer John Yoo, and have been wallowing in the mud with him ever since.
Why would she want to go to Texas? To be closer to her “husband” Dumbya, of course.
18Last week on “Democracy Now” was a discussion about: Should Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld & CIA Officials Be Tried for Torture? War Crimes Case Filed in Germany
http://www.democracynow.org/2014/12/19/should_bush_and_cheney_be_tried
I can only hope.
19This a real cluerf**k of dirty minds you got going for you.
20Now, y’all gotta at least give her credit for her piano playing.
21I think Tech has caught on about Gonzales; looks like his cushy job is in Tennessee.
….
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who has spent the last two years teaching political science at Texas Tech, has accepted a position at a Nashville, Tenn.-based Christian university.
22Marge Wood, nothing quite says “Christian” like the author of torture justification memorandum.
23Alberto Gonzalez has been dean of the Belmont University School of Law for the past 2 years. It’s in Nashville, TN.
FYI.

25These asshats taking top positions at institutions of learning has made me rethink the whole concept of higher education. Lower than crocodile p*ss education; lower than pregnant ant* education — that’s more like it.
*I do know ants lay eggs. It’s a metaphor.
26If you look at Rice’s publications she would not qualify for tenure in the Government Department at UT. The norm is to give administrators tenure in their academic department. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
