Yeah, But Can I Have a Job?

November 15, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Republican Monica Wehby in Oregon ran for Senate by campaigning against Obamacare.

She lost.  I’s Oregon.

Screen Shot 2014-11-15 at 3.51.32 PMSo, and this is an absolute true story, the next day she …

called Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber and inquired about the unfilled position of director of the Oregon Health Authority.

As The Oregonian put it, that position is “the state’s top official in charge of implementing Obamacare.” It cited “multiple sources” for its depiction of the call.

This event is brought to you by the letters W, T, and F.

The local newspaper reports that she answered their “Huh?” question by saying …

“Honestly, I’m looking at all sorts of options. I want to stay involved,” she said, stressing that health care shouldn’t be a partisan issue and that she hopes to help with health care reform in Oregon and nationwide.

Now I need to tell you something.  Her campaign slogan was – get ready for this – “Keep Your Doctor. Change Your Senator.”  Nope, that’s not making health care a partisan issue.  That’s threatening people with death.

Drop another coin the hypocrisy bank.

Thanks to Brian for the heads up.

She needs a job? I bet McDonald’s is hiring.

  2. The OHA job pays $173k a year. She makes $861k a year as a pediatric neursurgeon. Which makes it even more of the “Huh?” situation. Definitely would not trust this woman with my kid’s brain.

What did Gov. Kitzhaber say, after he stopped laughing. Or, has he stopped laughing?

  5. Marge Wood says:

Who’s paying her to get the OHA job? and what was she planning to do re: surgeries? Contract it out?

    5
  6. Holy Birmingham, it takes some serious stones to pull that off.

Glad Brian got that to you. I barely had time to read the paper, and have a good laugh about this article, before heading out to a morning meeting. Brought to you by the letters WTF indeed! The GOP sure finds all the really crazy women, don’t they?

I just googled koch brothers and monica wehby. Prolly no news to the rest of you that they spent a pile of money on her and they finally backed out of that race. That is encouraging.

  9. I see little fox ears pinned under Ms. Monica’s hair. If OR guv Kitzhaber were to put her in charge of the OHA henhouse, he’d have to have been enjoying that OR marieewanna a bit too much.

  10. Marge Wood says:

Now that you mention it, there ARE little fox ears. How’d I miss that?

Koch bros are 1/3 on backing crazy women. Joni Ernst’s handler was understandably arrested for DUI twice. So the boys probably won’t use her next election cycle despite her success at keeping Ernst quiet. Koch Industries busy at work on an undetectable ball gag for their future candidates. I volunteer $arah Palin as their crash test dummy and will throw in the super glue for free.

Meanwhile, back at the Koch Clone Factory changes are being made to the crazy eyed Michelle Bachmann prototype that produced Sharron Angle and Monica Wehby.

  12. This isn’t really surprising. A whole bunch of right-wingers get themselves elected to government positions in order to destroy the government. That didn’t work out for her, so now she hopes to get hired by the government in order to destroy the government.

Either that, or this is an example of how Repubs lie about their stand on issues in order to appeal to their misinformed base.

    Or both.

    12
  13. I think that we’ve found the new poster child for GOP hypocrisy: Dr. Monica Wehby

    13
  14. Fenway Fran says:

Not new. Lest you think WA is too progressive, we have Cathy McMoron Rogers and her protege Jaime Herrera Beutler, my congresscritter in a gerrymandered district. we had a great D candidate this cycle who did everything possible but got no more of the vote than previous much lesser candidates. And she did nada. No appearances, no signs. Minimal debates. The woman won’t hold open town halls. She cannot put together a cogent thought or sentence unless it is scripted. The stupid, it hurts.

    14
  15. I believe what the Doc did is the classic performance of the term “hutzpah”. Nuff said.

    15
  16. I hope she didn’t pay too much for her course in “How to be a politician” that she obviously got from the “Sarah Palin School of GOP Politics”. 🙂

    16
  17. Mark Schlemmer says:

Through-out her campaign Wehby referred to herself as a
“baby doctor” perhaps fearing that the multi-syllable proper
title – and a seriously (I’m serious) impressive actual title of
Pediatric Neuro-Surgeon was too big a concept for the L.I.V crowd she was actually wooing. I give her great respect for
her medical work but she came across as a “tool” for sure.

    17
  18. Nefarious comes to mind. Got to be something seriously wrong with this nutball, thinking Democrats wouldn’t see through her little power grab.

  19. e platypus onion says:

She looks like she got Jethro Bodine’s 5th grade cyphering and then became a brain surgeon like Jethro wanted to be.

    19
  20. How much more power and influence must there be in a $173,000 a year job that it trumps the power and influence of an $861,479 (in 2013 dollars) one???

Hey, I’ve got a crazy right wing old aunt in Vidor!

You don’t suppose we’re related? mike
