Remember This Republican?

October 01, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, remember toe-tapping, Minneapolis airport restroom, Super DeLux Brand Christian Larry Craig?

Larry_CraigA federal judge Tuesday ordered former senator Larry “Wide Stance” Craig (R-Idaho) to pay the U.S. Treasury $242,000 for improperly using campaign funds to pay for his legal defense after a 2007 sex-sting arrest in a Minneapolis airport bathroom.

No problem though, Craig has money.  Craig works as a … ready? … lobbyist in the energy field now.

Thanks to Brian for the heads up.

    Doubtless he planned ahead.

  2. Hey, people give me free money, I can use it for whatever, right?

What a strange, sad little troll he is. Like so many of these repressed authoritarians, he is too wrapped up in who he pretends to be to spend any time being who he actually is.

    They need a 12-step de-programming: Authoritarians Anonymous.

daChipster, how about a “Lassie GO home” program for Congress varmints? Whether voted or thrown out of office, they stay behind collecting more corporate pay days. Eric ‘Virginia doesn’t like you’ Cantor sure isn’t suffering.

Maybe something like their idea of immigration ‘reform.’ Make them return to their ‘home’ state; wait ten years, then get in line for a lottery number to return to DC.

PKM, I like your idea: make ’em go home for ten years and then draw a number.

    DaChipster & PKM, excellent ideas!
Hadn’t realized that Craig had become a lobbyist, but reading this came as no great surprise.

So LC is representing the suppliers of the key ingredient of petroleum jelly, eh. Keeping the government-energy connection, er, lubricated.

  8. Lorraine in Spring says:

@PKM I so agree. Been saying this for years. Since representing constituents is Constitutionally required public service, former members of Congress should not be able to profit off that service. I think they should wait at least 10 years before accepting a lobbying job or writing a book.

How many more bathroom stalls does it take to put his foot into in order to raise $250,000?

  10. I like the “Go back where you came from, work at a real job for ten years…” Actually I’d like to limit them to average income or less for the ten years. Get all the “I’m a Very Special Snowflake” out of their heads. But since the first won’t fly, that REALLY won’t fly.

  11. My more intelligent cousins went to places like Tech in Lu-bock and Texas University in Austin and became engineers. They griped down through the years that the companies for whom they worked – ESystems, HP, etc – required that when they patented something they assign the patent to the company, cause after all they get paid a salary and they developed it on company time.

Sooooooo…. These jacklegs that get elected should owe everything they earn to the United States Government, because after all, Harvard wouldn’t ask them to speak and pay them a 5k honorarium if they weren’t in Congress. Same thing when they leave. if the lobby their income above say poverty level should go to their former employer, who still owns their connections, the United States government.

  12. Micr–that is a brilliant idea.

Wasn’t that campaign-related since he was in Minnesota?
