Because, You Know, Making the President Look Bad is Job One!

September 30, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Meet Congressfreak Doug Lamborn from Colorado.  The dude is on a Rocky Mountain High.

He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

Screen Shot 2014-09-30 at 10.39.40 AMSo, it sounded kinda odd when he boasted that he was working behind the scene to get military member to resign.

[L]et me reassure you on this. A lot of us are talking to the generals behind the scenes, saying, ‘Hey, if you disagree with the policy that the White House has given you, let’s have a resignation. You know, let’s have a public resignation, and state your protest, and go out in a blaze of glory.

A blaze of glory?  More than a flicker of insanity.

Well, if this ain’t treason, I dunno what is.

And if there “a lot of us,” then I want to know who.  Does he mean Republican members of the House?  I wouldn’t doubt that, you know.

Just FYI – his Democratic opponent Retired Air Force Major General Irv Halter does not agree with Lamborn.  Lamborn has never served in the military.

Be social and share!

  1. The TGOP is seditious and should be treated accordingly.

    1
  2. I truly cannot understand this mindset.

    2
  3. At the very least this is blatant sedition.

    3
  4. I am old enough to remember when Repubs and Dems did not use foreign affairs as campaign issues because it was viewed as treasonous to undercut the President in his dealings with foreign nations. Now nothing is off bounds. And it is treasonous.

    4
  5. Fred Farklestone says:

    Day’s since Lamborn was born on May 24, 1954 = 21,900 +-
Day’s Lamborn spent in uniform, since his 18th birthday = 0
    Military experience = 0

  6. Yes but he is a Patriot can’t you see. He has his Rethuglican flag lapel pin right there in the picture. So what if his opponent is a real live veteran.

    6
  7. If somebody were doing this to a Republican president, this yahoo would be one of the first to denounce the perpetrators for treason. We know that because a bunch of similar yahoos did exactly that if anybody suggested that Dubya’s policies were ever-so-slightly a poor idea.

    7
  8. All joking off.

Professional sworn members of the military service, the army, the navy, the air force, and the Marine Corps, do not have the luxury of a political opinion of the POTUS. He is their Commander in Chief.

Marine Recruits begin learning this on about the 5th or 6th training day. The final name on their chain of command is Barak Obama, the President of the United States.

So my expectation is that yes indeed they should resign or retire. Then keep their political opinions to themselves as they have done each day of their career. No one cares.

    8
  9. A resignation is a “blaze of glory”? Then blaze away, Lamborn.

    9
  10. So the armchair general with no military service wants the real generals to resign? Don’t hold your breath, Repugs, some people do know the meaning of professional responsibility.

    10
  11. Quote from Newsweek on this subject: “Lamborn is the latest type of political muck America needs to scrape off the bottom of its national shoe: an officeholder so absorbed with his hatred of the opposing party that he is willing to do anything, no matter how much it damages our national security and the underpinnings of our democracy, if it will win him some applause and maybe a couple of votes.” (Courtesy of Steve Benen on today’s MaddowBlog.)

  12. If I recall correctly Edwin Walker (Maj Gen.USA)resigned in protest back 1961 and forfeited his pension. Dougy is just trying to save the tax payers a few bucks. After all to the republican mind set these officers should have set up private retirement accounts and expect to suck on the government teat.

    12
  13. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Lamborn took his own advice and resigned in a “blaze of Glory,” or at least kept his treasonous thoughts to himself?

    13
  14. @Cole: Ted Walker: now there’s a name from the past that’ll give you scoliosis. If you don’t know a lot about him, do read about him on the internet. He’s a piece of work!

    14
  15. Corinne Sabo says:

    This dude calls himself patriotic?

    15
  16. I’ve set up a petition on the Whitehouse.gov website asking that Doug Lamborn be prosecuted for treason. I am sick and tired of these seditious politicians putting hurting President Obama ahead of the welfare of their country. I need 150 signatures to even get it published on the website so I need everyone to go sign my petition. Here’s the link. http://wh.gov/iiNkE
    Thanks for helping

  17. Lambourn is…words I can’t say or Momma will be upset. Conspiring to get military officers to resign? There’s a very large sinkhole in Guatemala I would like to drop him into. Or any sinkhole, actually.

    17
  18. Elizabeth, La Brea tarpits for Lambourn!

    18
  19. The only way for him to be blazing to resign himself. Otherwise,he’s just flaming.

    19
  20. Treasonous rat bastard (sorry Momma) should resign.

    20
  21. This from a biography of George Washington, published by the U.S. Army Center of Military History:

“At war’s end, Washington promptly dismantled his victorious Army and once again became a private citizen. These actions astounded European observers, who fully expected the victorious general to seize power in the independent but unorganized colonies. Such assessments overlooked Washington’s strong belief in the subordination of the military to civilian authority. He had made his position clear in March 1783 when a petition urging the Army to force Congress to restore back pay had circulated among the officers at Newburgh, New York. Washington recalled his own sacrifices in the service of his country and reminded his officers that their loyalty should be to their country, not to the Army. To dramatize the point, he fumbled through the first paragraph of his prepared remarks, donned glasses, and commented that not only had he grown gray in the service of his country but now he was also going blind. He then proceeded to denounce the petition as treason. The chastised officers meekly dispersed.”

Lamborn, who is sworn to protect and defend the Constitution, has spoken both treason and mutiny among our military.

  22. Are people just allowed to resign from the military on a whim? I thought they enlisted for a set period of time.

    22
  23. LynnN, In ye old Hanoverian England, if you were rich enough you could buy the commission of your choice. That meant once you had enough of it, you could just submit a written resignation of your commission and skeedaddle. The creation of a professional officers corps took awhile in England. There were two precursors to Sandhurst, both with similar names, and rocky starts. The whole idea of a “profession” of officers was kind of a strange idea at that point. The creation of Sandhurst, the British version of West Point, debuted after the start of World War II. Here in the U.S. of A., it is possible to resign an officer commission under very strict circumstances, usually unique and of an emergency nature. Otherwise, your in it until you retire or you are dead.

    23
  24. I think there was a time that sedition was a crime and could be
    punished by prison or execution!

    24
  25. MikeatMu: Thanks for setting up the petition. Now let’s get everybody on this site to sign!
