Why You Should Learn the Twitter
You should learn to Twitter. You should.
I know, I know, I’m one to talk. I have a Twitter account and I do tweet about once a month. Me trying to say anything in 140 characters is about as easy as getting a Longhorn steer to sing the Aggie battle hymn. Hell, I can’t even say good morning in 140 characters. However, I love reading Twitter.
The Republicans started a thing that was supposed to make them look nicer and just like everybody else instead of Dick Cheney and the Koch Brothers. On Twitter they called it #IAmARepublican.
Like most things they do, it backfired.
Democrats took to the #IAmARepublican hashtag and had a ball with it. They told the real reasons why someone would be a Republicans.
Thanks to AlanInAustin for the heads up.
I have been reading these since they came out. It shows a real divide between the two parties – Dems have a hilarious sense of humor – Repubs none.
1Thanks, good ones! And…
#IAmARepublican so I can tell you how to live your life and how much I hate you.
2When I started coaching my oldest chile’s soccer team, I talked about how I thought “athletics build character”. My sainted father was right there to disagree. “Athletics doan build character grasshopper. They reveal it.” Same with Twitter.
3“IAmARepublican because I hate all government programs that don’t benefit me personally.”
The truth will out.
4I don’t Twitter but I like this. Dems do seem to have nearly all the good comedians and folk songs.
5@Rhea:
6They have all the good folk songs cause how can you hum the tune and rhyme when the song is about evicting widders and orphans and IRS confiscations.
I knew it! Just as soon as I saw that open invitation to all Repunkicans! What the hell were they thinking! Oops. I retract that last statement.
7Micr, if you can, please sir, name the artist or song containing this gem: “motorcycles don’t have doors.”
Hash-tag #Republicanthinking … oh the fun we can have on twitter with the twits.
Originally typed #Republicanlogic, but maggie scores a major point, so changed it to #Republican thinking.
8#Republicanthinking
Gonna have to wait a long time to see any activity there…
9@Micr: When I was a kid (during the war in Vietnam) they made us learn The Ballad of the Green Berets, which is about the only Republican folk song I can think of.
Now they probably have songs about chasing down illegal immigrants or the joys of open carry or depriving Democrat-types of voting rights or something.
By the way, anybody have any ideas as to why Republicans can’t pronounce the last syllable of “Democratic”?
10@PKM: I have heard that as the nonsense punch line of a joke but never as a lyric. I give up!
@Rhea: That comment piffed away while I typed. I think where I was going was “Repubs DON’T get good folk songs cause…” and, of course we all learned Barry Sadler’s song. It got huge amounts of airplay on the Mighty 1190 K-L-I-F in Dallas as well.
11PKM–I was thinking “Republican’thinking.” But I can’t figure out whether it needs 1 T or 2.
Surely only 1 in Republican’tlogic.
