Fun With Guns: Because The Third Amendment Protects Speeding in the WalMart Parking Lot Edition
Rutherford County, Tennessee. Angela Scruggs is 37 years old and has a permit to carry a weapon.
So when some dude asked her to stop speeding in the WalMart parking lot, she was ready to defend her constitutional rights.
Jason Hill, who called the police, told officers that Scruggs actually pointed the weapon at him when he asked her to “slow down.” He then told Scruggs that he would call the police. He said that Scruggs told him, “I don’t care, I got a carry permit.” A witness told responding officers that Scruggs told Hill that she would shoot him.
She was driving an Altima but only because the dealer wouldn’t mount a machine gun on her Ford.
There’s an inverse equation in there somewhere about the insecurity required to be armed at all times and “common sense.”
Weather and traffic conditions permitting, I’ll confess to going with the fastest flow of traffic on a highway. But parking lots and where children are known to be, the posted limit is a suggestion to which I travel much slower. The little ones aren’t knee high to a bumper and can’t be seen. So yeah, let’s mow down the little critters, because those parents should be able to hold a cart, unload their packages and keep hold of two or three little hands.
Next on deck, safety vests for children with magnets to attach them to shopping carts, so as not to delay the busy Walmart shopper.
1Well, that’s where we’re going with this crocked up mess of idiocy (misspelled for Momma, yes) that this devotion to the much maligned, misstated, and misunderstood 2nd Amendment.
I can do whatever the hell I please, any where and at any time, and you can’t stop me cause I’ve got a gun and a permit and I will shoot you if you interfere.
Thank you Wayne laPierre and all you other morons at the NRA. Idiots one and all. Not fit to be trusted with flipping bb guns much less anything else!
2Oops phone call in middle of post – add “has brought us.” to the end of the first sentence please!
3Sigh.
4You think maybe she had four kids under three in the car with her? That will make you insane.
5Reason #442 not to go to Walmart.
6Marge Wood, only fact in evidence, gun owner. Dumber than average gun owner, maybe. But, for the sake of discussion assume she could safely cram four car seats into an Altima. Oops there goes the discussion, with that word, “safely.”
Waving a gun around with children in the car, at a Tennessee Walmart or anywhere given the Walmart record is pure dumb. She’s lucky the other participant to her confrontation wasn’t as 2nd A crazy as she.
Speeding through a parking lot, st00pid. She could have hit a child or, not that it would give me a major sad been T-boned herself by some elderly person backing out of a slip.
Meh? I hate parking lots with all the crazy people trying to save fifteen seconds.
7Today was a small minds with guns Tennessee Two-fer day?

8It’s a pity that there isn’t some requirement for buying a gun that involves testing for impulse control and true/false statements such as “I can shoot somebody if they tick me off.” But having a test like that before you can drive a car would be good too….
9I told a guy in a big truck speeding in our Kroger lot to slow down one day. He actually stopped and backed up and asked what I had said. I told him that I thought he should slow down because there were kids and elderly people going to cars. He actually thanked me….but this was a decade ago, before the gun nuts took over our streets. I’d never dare yell anything now.
10Here in Colorado, the speed limit in a parking lot is 10 MPH.
11Wonder how fast she was going?
Pointing a gun at someone in some places is considered attempted murder. Have no idea if Tennessee is that evolved.
12She was charged with Aggravated Assault and will be free on the streets til October before she sees a judge. I do not get how that happens. I wouldn’t want her loose anywhere near me.
13It’s Tennessee, maggie. Remember the Scopes Trial? Tennessee is the state that evolution missed.
14I’ll give you long odds that Angela Scruggs is white.
15So Tennessee has laws against this sort of thing? Color me surprised.
16She’s black and a government lawyer.
Guess that puts a bit of a kink in your narrative, OldMayfly.
17I’m confused. What does this have to do with quartering soldiers in our homes? 😉
