My Kind of People
Y’all, not all Texans are crazy. I know it seems that way because the ones on teevee look like they escaped from the attic.
We actually have some sane people in Texas. Even in Dallas.
Armed with guitars instead of guns, this Independence Day, hundreds of musicians – and music fans – used satire and songs to protest the Open Carry Gun movement.
They have a Facebook page and pictures.
A guy named Barry Kooda (see what he did there?) got it all together.
I love yew, Texas.
Thanks to Grace for the heads up.
Not all the loud Texans on teevee seem as if they escaped from the attic. Some seem to have been living in a basement. Mommy’s basement. Or possibly dwelling in someone’s crawl space.
1Musical instruments! Yeah! Thats the kind of open carry I can endorse!
2Oh yeah! 6 strings instead of 6 shooters! Take it from Roy Rodgers, a man who carried both:
Pat Brady: I don’t get it, Roy. First you spend all your time gunnin’ for that guy, then you end up by bein’ the best of buddies.
3Roy Rogers: Why not? Bein’ mad never helped you get your man.
Hope this guitar thing catches on. It could be the seventies all over again. Peace, Love and Music, man.
4Oh goody! I missed being a flower child, maybe I can be a flower granny! I’ll brush up on my Pete Seger (RIP Pete, give Puff a hug for me!), Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan stuff 😀 bring on the neohippies!
5Guitar power! Lefties have the best songs anyway.
6I missed being a flower child too, but I had a heck of a good time being an over-the-hill hippie for my ‘Publican family. They’re still blaming the “commies” but the evil influence was reason.
7The best “open carry” idea I’ve heard of, and now seen!
8The Loosiana Republican senatorial candidate’s daughter is helping that party redefine “open carry”.

9Yeah! I hope somebody(s) were recording the music and saving it (digitizing and editing and mixing it and all that stuff) for the world to hear.
10You are very welcome, Juanita Jean. I knew a very large group of Texans had brains and a sense of humor. I enjoyed finding written proof.
