  1. maryelle says:

The Republicans have turned this into their
“crisis of the day”. On come the hearings, the calls for impeachment. They’re so desperate to get at the President, they are reversing themselves on their call to bring Bergdahl home. Sheer hypocrisy and unmitigated gall!

    1
  2. At least President Obama is starting to rub the GOP faces in their own crap. Everyone knows damn well that if the President had asked Congress beforehand to approve the plan to release Bergdahl, someone from the gop side of the aisle have leaked the information.

  3. Marcia in CO says:

    You are so right, Maryelle!!

  4. What an appropriate cartoon for the 70th Anniversary of D Day!

  5. Ralph Wiggam says:

It is a bitter irony that the soldiers who militarily defend his right to a fair trial have already convicted him without a hearing.

What kind of person would put their life on the line for the Constitution of The United States on one day and reject it completely on the next day?

    I’m confused.

  6. e platypus onion says:

Next time soldiers are sent overseas, they must register as wingnuts or they cannot come home. Swear fealty to Grover Norquist and wingnut ideals or else.

  7. Most of the irony, in all this hypocrisy…… naturally comes from the fact that Ted Cruz……(Still somewhat of a Canadian Citizen) never served in the U.S. Military……

So….he knows not whereof he speaks on any of this.

John McCain should just STHU, before people start digging really deep into his time spent as a POW in North Viet Nam.

Anyway, the U.S. Military is now in charge of what the future holds for Bowe Bergdahl. Not Joe Scarbarough. Not Bill O’, and certainly not Rush.

They just need to turn the volume down, and the Democrats need to get in front of the President on this, and some reason needs to prevail.

Why I no longer turn my tv on, until there is a baseball game on in the evening. “The News” is not worth my time.

  8. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Until Morning Joke announces his son’s enlistment, he has nothing of consequence to say on military policy.

  9. I say again, Ronny RayGun negotiated with terrorists via surrogates and Iran wound up with a sudden supply of missiles. And then he got Alzheimers. I know of a pile of people who would argue to the death in opposition to this, but hey, it happened!

    9
  10. I hope the Republicans do impeach Obama for getting an American soldier released from Taliban imprisonment. I hope they do it right before the next election.

  11. What went out of our office today, the 70th anniversary of D-Day: June 6, 2014
We couldn’t let this day go by without remembering not only the day and the time, but the places. Utah and Omaha beaches, the U.S. took those. Gold and Sword went to Britain with Juno taken by the Canadians. For that day, it all began when the fog lifted and the enemy saw five thousand ships just off shore, all pointed at them. It was the first time in history that an armada of such size was ever seen in battle. From those ships came the men of the Greatest Generation who made sure there would never be
a thousand year Reich. Our hats are off to them. God bless them all.

Hope I didn’t rearrange your day, but the way Cruz was misbehaving I just had to write something for the front page!!! Arghhh!!!

  12. Marge Wood says:

Thank you, Maggie. I glanced at Cruz and decided I couldn’t read him.

  13. OldMayfly says:

My Dear One landed behind enemy lines in Normandy when he was 18 (he was in 101st Airborne).

He had no interest in politics, but when the Vietnam War was raging he asked me to explain our involvement in it. I am a political wonk, so I did. At that time he was still eligible for the draft.

After hearing my synopsis he said, “If I am drafted to go to Vietnam, I won’t do it.” I replied, “We’ll go to Canada.”

    He said, “You’d do that?”

    “Oh, yeah.”

    13
  14. OldMayfly says:

I should ad, “Thank you Lynn” and “Thank you Maggie.”

  15. Polite Kool Marxist says:

OldMayfly, I’d add your “Dear One” was a lucky man, as well as a good man.

Viet Nam, men had choices: prison, exile, or meat grinder, while chicken hawks had student deferment, National Guard or daddy placements. Honestly sorry about Grumpy McCain’s time in the Hanoi Hilton. BUT had he not been such a privileged sorry stick, his 3rd crash would not have been in enemy territory. Now and again, karma trumps privilege.

But, it really sucks when privilege doesn’t meet karma, as in Dubya. 8 years of a chicken hawk idiot that spent all our national post 9/11 good will capital, $trillions, cannot compute devastation to families here, in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the mess that is the over burdened VA and under-served veterans; all for his crony/VP Halliburton and the other MIC Koch Roaches.

Message to GOP: war, declare it, pay for it and the end (VA) payments or stuff your ‘conflict’ euphemisms, or seriously stop with your ‘party of fiscal conservatism’ bs.

Tax the Koch Roaches, you Koch suckers.
