Fun With Guns: I’ve Had Cousins Like That
New Hampshire for once.
Glenn Ranfos is 57 years old and has more lead in him than fishing sinker factory.
He was shot by his hunting partner of 40 years, his own cousin Kenneth Ranfos, who was about 30 yards away in some deep woods and armed with a shotgun.
He saw Glenn remove his hat, and the quick movement combined with Glenn’s bald head, may have thrown Kenny off.
“I instantly started bleeding from the forehead,” said Glenn. “And I could feel penetration on my side and I stood up and said to Kenny ‘you shot me’ and he was in disbelief. He really thought he shot a turkey.”
You know, maybe he did. I’m not saying that’s impossible. Pretty close, though.
Thanks to Craig for the heads up.
I keep tellin’ y’all, this is a COMING OF AGE rite. Just becuz he’s a little old for it don’t mean he din’t deserve it.
1I’ll say it again: if you don’t know at what you are aiming, DON’T PULL THE TRIGGER! Good grief. Gun control is hitting what you aim at, but first, you have to know that your target is indeed what you mean to shoot.
2I’m sorry, Marge. No one deserves to be shot because someone else is an idiot.
If only stoopidity were mortal unto those doing the stoopid stuff.
3Gotta ask, when was the last time anyone ever saw a turkey wearing a hat or even having a bald head? Just stop and think for a minute.
4e platypus onion, was the fiend Cheney’s ‘friend’ bald and wearing a hat, when Dick blasted him in the face?
Gee Haw, hunting season is open on friends and relatives!
5One can only hope that the cousin becomes so afraid of hitting a person that he either gives up hunting or takes a mighty long time to determine his prey. We all pray.
6I agree. That was my alter ego smarting off. I hate guns.
7One of these days we are going to hear about a guy who shoots his buddy and his buddy shoots back.
8You guys seem not to “get it.” Obviously, if it’s a white dude and his friend or relative and the person is injured but not killed, it’s just “one of those things.” If it’s a white kid shooting their friend/relative and that friend/relative dies, it’s a sad, sad thing.
If it’s a brown or black person and the gun is in the vicinity, it’s a horrible, horrible crime, even if the gun isn’t shot or isn’t shot in such a way a to cause even a scratch to humans or objects.
Rules is rules, you know.
9When my dear one and I lived in the country, we had a wonderful beagle who hunted squirrel and rabbit in the daytime and raccoon at night. A neighbor wanted to “borrow” Mr. Beagle to go rabbit hunting.
Dear One, who was very generous usually, absolutely refused. He had observed that the neighbor was careless. The neighbor was offended, but too bad. Mr. Beagle lived to a ripe old age.
10OldMayfly, your Dear One sounds like an admirable person.
11Clearly what was missing here was a good turkey with a gun.
12Bald heads and wearing white crew socks with low cut hunting boots. Them sox make people think its a rabbit. I don’t have the foggiest idea what a bald head looks like except a bald head.
13I read somewhere that most hunters shot by mistake were thought to be turkeys.
No further comment.
A turkey does have a bald head, by the way, but a lot smaller than Glenn’s dome.
14SusanF – “you have to know that your target is indeed what you mean to shoot.”
In theory, that’s a great concept. Unfortunately, for some who are out in the woods with their hunting buddies Jim Beam or Jack Daniels, a target is indeed what moves.
15LynnN — Clearly! (You cracked me up!)
16C’mon guys, the NRA actively campaigns against allowing turkeys to have guns because they refuse to speak white ‘murrican language.
17And another one…
South Carolina man puts on a bullet proof vest, asks friends to shoot him. He’s dead.

18A few years back up here in Badgerland, a local farmer lost one of the Yaks he raised to a deerhunter ( you know, those long-haired critters that sort of look like a cow). Well, turns out the poor thing met it’s demise at the hands of a 70 year-old hunter who claimed he couldn’t see too good. During hunting season my advice is to stay out of the wood, & put yout livestock in the barn. One good thing about hunting – it sort of cleans up the gene pool.
