Gated Community!
Can we build a fence around them? News from Bundyland —
Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford, sent a letter to Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie about the safety of residents in the Bunkerville area. Horsford says his constituents have “expressed concern” over the presence of armed militia groups from out of state.
According to Horsford, his constituents say the militia have set up checkpoints where residents must prove they live in the area before they are allowed to pass and have set up a “persistent presence” along federal highways, and state and county roads. They also claim some have established an armed presence in the community.
Okay, so somebody wants to see my papers to pass to get to my home? So who’s being the Nazis now? A bunch of overweight middle aged guys who let their Viagra prescription lapse are armed and declaring marshall law? Whoa. That’s kinda weird.
Now see, here’s the deal. I’d be willing to give them federal taxpayer owned land if they sign an agreement to never leave it. Not even to go to the grocery store. You guys are tough he-men – prove it.
Thanks to Ralph for the heads up.
What is this? Bundy’s private army setting up checkpoints challenging drivers for papers? Either the State of Nevada clears the area of these domestic terrorists utilizing the Nevada National Guard or the FBI and ATF have to do the job.
1Let me get this straight, they want ID? Do they accept the kind that comes from the Government they don’t recognize?
2I’m sure they are making a big hit with Bundy’s neighbors.
They don’t look so cute anymore, eh???
Meanwhile, WaPo has an article about a woman who lost her home over a $6 debt.
White man steals a million bucks from the taxpayers and he’s a hero. Woman misses a $6 tax payment and loses her home.
So tell me again about that liberty and justice for all.
3I am on your side….I oppose Martial law
4More “I got a gun so I’m in charge” mentality.
By the way, JJ, it’s “martial” law, as in soldiers patrolling the streets, not “marshall” as in county sheriff.
If these gun-happy fools think the US government doesn’t exist, who exactly do they think they’re representing?
Remember that part of the second amendment about a “well-regulated militia”? That sure ain’t what we got here.
5Sedition:
6“Conduct or language inciting to rebellion against a lawful government”.
How come these good ol’ boys will say out loud and in public that maybe black people would be better off if they lived back on the plantation picking cotton, implying that a white rancher-farmer sure could use some free workers on their plantation or ranch like in the old days.
But these same guys never suggest that maybe the Native American tribes that used to live where the white guys are squatting now now, might be better off if they could have THEIR land back like in the old days?
7Residents must prove they live in the area before they are allowed to pass? So what happens to people who don’t live locally but are using the roads to get elsewhere (out of Nevada if they have any sense). Are there no through roads in Nevada?
8I took a look at the map around Bunkerville. I15 runs from Arizona toward Las Vegas. Parallel to it is state highway 170, which is the main road through Bunkerville. I think that’s the road they are blocking; I doubt there’s much reason for anyone but locals to be there until this all happened. As long as they don’t block the interstate, they won’t affect through travel. That picture of a guy with a high-powered rifle a few days ago was from I15. The police had the interstate closed then.
9Rick@7 –Precisely so. Thank you!
10Hey, Sean Hannity! Where the hell are you? Your damn brats are misbehaving again! Yeah, clown! They are definitely yours. You own them. Lucky, lucky you!
11When Ol’ Man Bundy gets tired of buying groceries for these guys, he’ll tell them to go away. They’ll get bored, too, and start drifting off like the “Oath Keepers” did.
12Time for the National Guard to use some of their experience from Iraq and Afghanistan. Bring on the gunships.
13This protest has gotten way out of hand, Where’s the pepper spray, the rubber bullets, the billy clubs? Just reserved for unarmed protesters like students, the 98%, civil rights etc. The feds are treating the rwnj’s with kid gloves.
14The new motto for libertarians: “It’s not tyranny when WE do it”
15maryelle, the students, 98%, and civil rights folks weren’t armed to the teeth with their fingers on the triggers. These bozos are just itching for a firefight with the feds; they’d claim victory no matter the outcome because martyrs are as good as winners for them. (And they’d be pushing the women and kids up front to get shot first for TV.)
Would be nice if the feds had some kind of Star Trek stun-them-from-above beam to put these clowns to sleep so their sorry asses can be hauled off to jail.
16Shouldn’t these big, strong, all-Amurkin guys be going to their jobs to support their families instead of spending their days playing Wild West games like 5-year-old kids? I guess they shoved their wives and girlfriends out the door to go to work so they could push citizens around. And it’s all in the name of “protecting” a thief who’s been stealing grazing rights for his cattle on your and my land for 20 years.
17I’m holding my breath…….. until Sheriff WHAt’s his name…
enforces the law…
against these idiots.
18Miemaw, Clark County Sheriff Gillespie is too busy running the pussy posse in Las Vegas to travel to the outskirts of the county.
19O.K. I’ve quit holding my breath…
I’m too old for this…
20This may be a problem of short duration. Rumor has it these lunatics will disperse right after Bundy anounces he is selling his herd and buying into an NBA franchise. You heard it here first!
21How long before they start shooting each other out of boredom?
Not soon enough.
22@Uncle Dave……. my “sources”….. (which is the entire internet thing”)….. reveal…… that it may be Ophra…… who buys the next available NBA franchise. As one more “billionaire”……..
Works for me.
23Now that they’ve spread into the outside community the risk of innocent people being killed is very high. They need to be taken down ASAP.
24@ Mike Behrent #13. Not to advocate violence but I’d wager you’re correct one pass by an Apache or an AC-130 Spectre and this whole crew would come down with a case of the dung-filled denims and pacifism.
25Sheriff Gillespie apparently thinks Las Vegas is all of Clark County. He’s not about to gets his boots dusty, much less blood stained in some remote part of the desert.
Do the Feebs have a plan of action that won’t play into the martyrdom scenario for these yahoos?
26@ Mike Behrent and donquijoterocket, Houston we have a problem or two. The NV governor is a GOP varmint (and a wimpy little weasel), so there will be no help from the NV Air Guard. Senator Reid seems to be the only one in a position to help us thinking this Craven clown and his militias need a smack down.
DC works slow. From Senator Reid to President Obama, then AG Eric Holder maybe. Then the planning process of taking down these yokels with as few losses of life possible and being cognizant that these cowards would use innocent hostages as shields. They’ve already stated through that clown ‘sheriff’ Mack that they’d use their own women and children as shields, so don’t expect them to have any respect for the families of the law abiding ranchers in the area.
27It’s good to hear the humorous out-takes on this insane situation with the self described militia. However, this stand-off situation disturbs me in that it could be a precursor to things to come. You have a bunch of crazed fanatics with an enormous surplus of military style assault weapons and gear that are itching for a fight. It only takes a flashpoint like this to galvanize the nations militia to “stand their ground” in other anti-government situations. They’ve has 6 years of demonizing President Obama, so to legitimize their assault on the very foundations of our democracy. These crazies have no solutions
nor consciousness of the consequences of their actions. We’re in big trouble when the GOP Congressman hold committees on Benghazi but not on investigating US militia groups.
Take a look recent overthrow of governments of Syria, Grease, and others as examples of how armed insurgency begins to unfold. We need to petition our Senators and Congressman’s to intervene into this before it’s too late.
28They think differently from the way we think.
