Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
I wonder what the white people of Georgia will think when they see a lot of young black men carrying large guns. The Freudian implications alone are enough to set off lynch mobs. It could get nasty.
1“I got ya gun right here” Want me ta quick draw it ? Well done on the toons.
2Considering the US is going to have a “White” minority soon is this going to be a “law of unintended consequences”?
3To Ralph Wiggam @6:15 am:
4The whites pushing these gun laws probably think they will win The Glorious Race War. Isn’t that how it happened in “The Turner Diaries”?
I’d get the heck out of Georgia right quick.
5The white people who oppose affirmative action are unwilling/unable to realize that they benefited from affirmative action for white males for centuries…and that ending affirmative action for under-represented minorities will not restore the affirmative action they believe is their birthright. They assume–wrongly, but fervently–that when all the milk’s poured into the vat, the cream that rises to the top will always be white cream. You’d think having a non-white President would be proof that’s not so, but…they think affirmative action got him there, not his inherent ability.
And they think there are enough whites still in power to ensure that the cream at the top will continue to be white (or very faintly tinged with something else.) What they are terrified of is losing the majority…hence all the emphasis among white racists (and the churches full of them) on having lots of children, preventing more immigration by persons of color, and denying the vote to persons of color.
White peoples’ worst enemy is white people (cue Pogo quote) and aside from the “bad precedents R us” tactic of taking children away from racist parents before they learn to talk, we may end up with the worst-case situation where the white supremacists are out-breeding the white non-supremacists, thus foreclosing any possibility of reconciliation. Note: I am not advocating taking away racists’ children, merely pointing out that if Bundy’s 14 learn his savage racism from him or others like him, I can offer only one kid to balance them.
6Well anyway, the report on fertilizer explosion put the blame squarely on politicians and in Texas that means the blame belongs to wingnuts. Wear it proudly, fellas. This will undoubtedly happen again and lord knows you don’t let a few innocent deaths prevent korporate amerika from realizing even greater profits.
7Wonder if the unintended consequences of the affirmative action decision will be the BLS championship being decided between Bethune Cookman, and Morehouse. That would be a hoot!
8Perhaps the solution to affirmative action is to focus on poverty and not on skin color–though there will be considerable overlap.
9Any church whose members think they need to carry guns inside is a church I will not be joining.
LynnN, I agree that poverty would be a more acceptable marker, given that schools are funded by local people. And whose idea was that one? It means poor kids always go to lousy schools.
10Early Intervention is the ticket. Race, gender and age are immaterial. Start with well baby clinics, prenatal care for the mothers, job training for both parents and education for all.
How do we pay for it? Those plans pay for themselves in time with an increased tax base. However, for those impatient and wanting a pay for it now plan, close the tax loopholes, increase taxes to the point of a progressive graduated tax structure and place the military/security/industrial complex on a serious diet.
11Clarence, rest easy. You ain’t the first one to turncoat. By now you should be used to it.
12Affirmative action is for women, too, of all colors.
13I don’t believe Clarence Thomas has ever had even one thought or opinion he didn’t pick up by following Scalia around, scraping and bowing all the while. He was never qualified to be a Supreme and nothing about him has improved over time. In good conscience, I can’t hope that a few of them drop dead, but it wouldn’t bother me a whole lot if they had to retire due to poor health.
14There’s hope Rubymay. Roberts has seizures and the rest of the good old boys certainly do not look like paragons of the fitness movement.
