You know, they did not have to waste money on a psychologist.  I can only make it about half way through his shows before I start covering my ears and yelling, “You know he’s lying to you.  Say something, you fool!”

Honey, it takes more than Anderson Cooper hair to make a journalist.  I say we go back to being Meet the Press, not Meet Tim Russert or Meet David Gregory.

I’d even be willing to let Fox News come on there, just so long it’s balanced with Rachel Maddow.

But what I’d really like to see is Meet the Press with Elizabeth Warren and some damn bankers.

  1. TexasEllen says:

NBC wasting money on teh stupid. David Gregory is no good at asking questions. His bookers continue to schedule predictable has-beens that Gregory feels comfortable with. Press the Meat is a circle jerk.

  2. daChipster says:

You gotta wonder how those psych questions went:

So, Mrs. Gregory, your husband had been handed the keys to the news show equivalent of a ’57 ‘Vette and he drove it off a cliff. How’s he holding up?

So you and David Gregory have been friends for awhile. Has he ever mentioned the stress associated with being a complete hack?

Have you noticed in your dad any adverse psychological reaction to being a closet Con?

Did your son often interview imaginary friends in an effort to offset a painful reality with a comforting false equivalence?

When he was in school, did he ever take an actual journalism class, and did he exhibit signs of confusion over the concept of “fact-checking?”

    Diagnosis: a hot mess
Prognosis: a continuing slow-motion car wreck
    Prescription: a long retirement

  3. Is that still on?

  4. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Television has been a mess, since C-SPAN become open mic for the crazy contingent in Congress.

  5. Hired a psychological consultant? And the managers of American corporations are supposed to be among the best? For which they are paid millions? Srsly?

(Or is that a misprint and you meant “psychic”? ‘Cuz’ that makes much more sense.)

  6. donquijoterocket says:

! TexasEllen- Are you sure it’s a waste of money? From what I can tell wilful, prideful ignorance, as exemplified by David Gregory, is a big moneymaker here in the land of the free, home of the …

  7. Lorraine in Spring says:

I wonder if they interviewed his good friends, The Liz Cheneys.

David’s wife worked with Liz’s husband at a law firm.

  8. I’d hoped Rachel Maddow would replace Tim Russert. The only thing David Gregory was ever good at, IMO, was matching his suit and tie to his surroundings. And I like his hair. That, however, does not a journalist make.

  9. The latest is that NBC hired a brand consultant to help on the show http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/21/1293542/-NBC-denies-it-hired-a-psychological-consultant-on-David-Gregory-s-Meet-the-Press-failure I think that David Gregory is very weak but other than Rachel, I am not sure if they have anyone who could replace him.

  10. They should have saved the money and hired an x-ray technician to see if he has a spine

    10
  11. Really! NBC could have hired Guido the Lip to give D.G. some lessons on uncouth. This guy won’t call someone else out on a flat out lie cuz he was taught it wasn’t nice to do. He needs to be un-niced. As in, come on, ox-breath, just try to run that crap by me again and see what you get! I can guarantee you the network switchboard would light up like the Brits were bombarding Ft. McHenry again!

    11
  12. Marge Wood says:

They know they can’t deal with Elizabeth Warren. Guess y’all saw her new book?

    12
  13. Marge Wood says:

I tell you what, I’d be pretty upset if I worked somewhere for a long time and suddenly the bosses send me and my family and friends to a psychologist. Can’t you imagine the steam and spit and tears coming down at suppertime that day? Come on! I’ve never seen David Gregory and intend never to but that is the limit. I guess he is pretty tied to that pay check.

  14. NBC execs have only themselves to blame for DG’s failure as host of MTP. They had to know early on that he knew very little about the topics discussed on the program. It was obvious to millions of viewers that he was out of his depth and drowning fast because they stopped watching MTP. In spite of this, the execs kept him in the position out of some sense of “loyalty” to him because he’d been with the network so long. It’s time for the execs to face the fact that they need to get rid of DG as host of MTP or watch the program and its ratings continue their downward spiral to obscurity.
