Mena, Arkansas

April 10, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Mena, Arkansas, ain’t exactly your bastion of liberalism.  And neither is the First Baptist Church there.  So, when this showed up the newspaper, I damn near burned myself with the curling iron.

It was announced last week that 9th Street Ministries will be concluding their medical clinic mission, which had been ongoing monthly to offer free medical services to those in need since first starting in 1998. The final day for the medical clinic will be Thursday, April 24, and that will conclude the mission that has been in place for almost 16 years.

“Because people are qualifying for insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, our free medical clinic will not be needed anymore,” Stacey Bowser RN, 9th Street Ministries Clinic Director, stated. “We’ve gone from seeing around 300 people a month on a regular basis, but as people were enrolling in Obamacare, the numbers we were seeing have dropped. We were down to 80 people that came through the medical clinic in February, all the way down to three people at the medical clinic in March. Our services won’t be needed anymore, and this will conclude our mission.”

They will keep open their help with food and paying utility bills, but now people have insurance to pay for a doctor and nurses and medical clinics and that means jobs in the area to fulfill those needs.

So just shuddup, Republicans.  Just shut the hell up.

Thanks to Robert for the heads up.

So if they were doing God’s work and they were replaced by Obamacare, that means Obamacare is now doing God’s work!

Thanks, Ralph Wiggam. Appreciate the heads up on how the bubble headed bleach blonds on Fox Misinformation Channel will spin this good news into bad: “Obama playing God.”

Wait, a last ditch charity stopgap closing is a *good* thing?

But how else can the poors know how deficient they are?

And, and, and doesn’t charity have to be a church thing?

Obamacare Forces Church Clinic Out of Business!
    Latest attack on Christianity.

Muslim death panels have finished off the last of the patients that kept the doors of the 9th Street Ministries Free Clinic open for over 15 years.

“We’ve gone from seeing around 300 people a month on a regular basis, but… the numbers we we’re seeing have dropped. We were down to 80 people that came through the medical clinic in February, all the way down to three people at the medical clinic in March.”

It is not known at this time what Obamacare has done with all these people, but they are rumored to have been on flight MH 370 en route to Benghazi when it disappeared off radar, (near INDONESIA, get it???) just in time for the number of “Obamacare enrollees” to magically jump.

This communist attack on a harmless Christian charity had the typical Obamacare job-killing effects, too. “The medical clinic was seeing so many area residents, that there was always a crew of 25 to 30 volunteers that worked to meet all the needs of keeping the medical center operating successfully. After the end of this month, there won’t be the need for that particular group of volunteers anymore.”

25 to 30 volunteer jobs gone. In a town of little more than 5000, that’s a huge blow to the local economy. But on top of that, the hundreds of sick people who now can get comprehensive health care – if they aren’t already at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, or under that mudslide thingie that happened – will likely have a ripple effect in the tiny community, with coffin makers, funeral caterers and undertakers all likely to feel the pinch. The caterers, especially, may have to turn to working gay weddings just to make ends meet.

Alleged car thief, arsonist and insurance fraud Darrell Issa (Major Douche – CA) has vowed to hold hearings to get to the bottom of all this, because the IRS was used to coerce these victims to sign up in the first place. Rep. Louie All Hat and No Cattle Gohmert also plans to hold Eric Holder responsible for something having to do with asparagus.

Some say this is the greatest test of Obama’s Presidency to date. Some say, it’s not. Others say, it could be. A few say that impeachment proceedings are imminent. A guy in Tuscaloosa says it’s multicultural anti-colonialism.

Stay tuned to FOX Snooze for the very latest update in this growing scandal.

It’s all president Obama’s fault! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!! A volunteer losing their job? Despicable! Imagine 800 people all with health insurance, it’s an uprising I tell you! Get out the pitchforks and flaming torches!

  12. Could we PLEASE get some ads out about the good Obama’s health bill is doing, instead of all the distorted and outright lying crap about how it’s the worst thing since Attila the Hun? I know the Publicans have most of the damn money that the SCOTUS now lets them fling about at will, but come on, Dems….

I know it’s funny, Chipster, but somebody is going to take it seriously. Yes, we need to do SOMETHING positive. Rustle rustle.

Oh. Diversion here. The manuscript for my new book THE SECRET BUZZARD SOCIETY is done, I swear, except for the little pictures inside and the cover and the ISBN number and the final formatting which i hope doesn’t screw anything up and the MARKETING. Sigh. The marketing. Somebody told me I oughta have a blog about it. What do you think?

  16. There is a Scout camp near Mena the I used to take my troop camping at every few years. Because I was not from there and white, I was told that Mena, AR was a bastion of the KKK back in the day and it was known as a ‘sundown town’. Meaning.. don’t be in town after sundown if you’re not white and you know what’s good for you.

    16
  17. Congrats Mena First Baptist Church! With your help, those people who came through your clinic were able to stay alive to sign up for healthcare! Thank you!
