Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) revealed on Thursday that he had become a congressman because he was outraged that single women were having as many as 15 babies and getting welfare checks.
Hummm … but he’s pro life? And he’s anti- birth control being included on insurance?

Louie, Reagan lied. There never was a “Welfare Queen.” It was a fabrication, a fictional non-existing person, a myth created by Reagan to exploit racism.

2Has Louie ever identifed a single woman with fifteen children who is receiving welfare? If so, did he disclose how much in welfare she is receiving? And does he suggest any solution other than. let them starve? Or is this just another instance of a right wing demagogue setting up a straw man and knocking it down? She was a real person, but was probably not a black person. And she did game the welfare system, but that was only part of her criminal history.
4Do you suppose he’d resign if we showed him proof that there aren’t a lot of women with 15 kids getting welfare? Though I guess that would require him to accept facts over fantasy.
5I’d accept a few more single women with 15 children on welfare, in exchange for a few less idiots in Congress.
Because if I had to guess, right now the idiots in Congress vastly outnumber the welfare queens with more than a dozen kids.

7Louie decided in 2004 while Bush was President and several years after Clinton had implemented “workfare” and replaced the old Aid to Families with Dependent Children (which was open-ended and might have been what the Reagan fantasy woman would have been abusing) with Temporary Assistance to Needy Families which is as the name says “temporary” and not likely to be utilized by a single mother with 15 babies.
WAIT! He said 15 babies. I don’t know how it works in Louie-world but where I live we stop calling them babies about the time they begin to walk which is about a year after being born. FIFTEEN babies all at the same time? That would outdo Octomom — even if it were 3 pregnancies and only 5 at at time. I wonder what color the sky is in Louie-world.
8Could it be that he was upset that there were single women having more sex than he was? Perhaps it was they got money and he had to pay. It’s a tough choice between the two.
9The Repugs never follow any of their policies through to their logical conclusions. If abortion is outlawed and contraception is not available, then the number of poor women giving birth and the number of births will of course increase and those mothers and babies will need help.
10So if the reason Gohmert went into politics was to prevent that, we can absolutely say that he has not only failed, but caused the opposite to occur. Way to go, Gohmert!

My mothers current husband has 9 children that we know of…and I read an article about a young man who had by the ripe old age of 18 already had 10 children in the world.
Women (except for those given to God) do not have children on their own…and it would take a single woman a while to have 15 children–heck, a certain kind of guy could do that in a long college break weekend and call himself “lucky”

23Pay attention, Juanitajean. When men have sex they don’t get pregnant and require $$$ for birth. So women who decide to go ahead and get pregnant shouldn’t expect any support either.

If there is such a welfare mother odds are very good she lives on the Arizona Utah border. She probably has less than an 8th grade level of education, no legal husband although she has been ‘married’ since her mid-teens and is under 40 years old.
27@ Ralph Wiggam- Not surprising given that the Tea potty is little more than a mash up of the rump of the Birchers and the last bitterest dregs of the moral majority. They were founded, despite their denials, by the Republican party to serve as a combination cash cow and loyal corps of semireprogrammable zombies and to borrow a phrase shake and bake fucktards. Besides the money they were to serve as political camouflage for the Republicans to move as far to the right as they’d always wished but had never had cover for.
