Heads Up
Those of you who donated to the Juanita Jean / Glen Maxey project got an email from Glen tonight asking you to please beta test the project before it goes live on the Texas Democratic Party website on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Glen forgot to tell you that the site won’t be ready for you to beta test it until tomorrow morning.
I cannot tell you how important your contribution is to getting this game changing project on its feet. We could not have done it without you. This weekend Glen is beginning training county and precinct chairs to use it. On Monday, we can link to it here and everyone can see what a small group of beauty shop customers can accomplish.
If you donated by snail mail but want to be included on the beta testing, please let me know. I’m sorry, but we are only allowing donors to beta test at this point. Glen has the names of the snail mail donors but not all their email addresses.
Once more, thank you. We raised about $8,500 total. You guys are better than recess in heaven.
I’m assuming this is only for Texas voters? I’d love to vote for Wendy Davis but I live in Maryland.
1Thanks to all of you. Online donors and snail mail donors. I was getting the email ready to send for Saturday morning (since I’m going over to Calvert, Robertson County, Texas to do some training early). I inadvertently hit send. Now you know why I’m more of an idea man than a “techie”.
So all check back to the email from Friday night, after about 10 a.m. Play with it. Download those “senior Bankston’s” applications. Do one for me to vote from jail. All in good fun, but we need to see if everything works correctly.
And if you want to see more fun tools to get Democrats to vote in Texas, here’s the link again:

2Rhea, we can, of course, vote with our checkbooks. Go to Act Blue and donate to Wendy. (You probably already have, so consider this a reminder to anyone else who feels as we do.)
3Rhea, if you donated to this project, you can test it even if you live in a foreign state. We’re working out the kinks before it goes online.
And, Lynn, while I myownself have donated to Wendy and I think it’s great for people to do that, I am asking people here to donate to specific causes that help the entire ticket in Texas, including my personal favorite, Leticia Van de Putte for Lt. Governor.
Leticia is the state senator whose question at the end of the filibuster sent the crowd over the top. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By4pcLr4ZN0
4While many of us tossed in a few bucks to make this work, that was the easy part. With a few clicks of a mouse I can move money from my account to your account. No problem.
But I would like to recognize the people who gave their time to this project. You can’t do that with a mouse click. You have to be there, you have to show up and you have to work.
Those people have my eternal gratitude. Thank You! (and pass it on)
5I’m glad to hear that beta testing is now underway. I cannot donate right now, but I would love to be a part of this in the future in some way. Let us foreign state non-donors know if we can help with anything.
6I emailed “Tommy” – Had a problem with getting stuck continuing the application process.
7I tested the new site. It’s terrific! I hope there is some way you can share it and other states can benefit from what you all have done.
And, yes, Letecia is on my list too. I try to rotate who I send donations to. There are some fine women out there.
8I’m jealous. I want to look. Oh well, sooner or later i prolly can, being as Glen and I both live in the same home town and hear lots of the same stuff. I hope.
