But the Good Ones Control the Flow

Texas golfer Lee Trevino used to say, “We all leak a little oil but the good ones control the flow.”

It appears that Texas has lost control.

Welcome to Milford, Texas, which is just south of Dallas.  Homes and schools were evacuated last week when an explosion happened at an active drill site after crews punctured the pipeline.  The pipeline is owned by Chevron.

While initial tests by the EPA show the air around the blast site was not toxic, officials are recommending that no one return to the area for 24 hours, the county judge said. Chevron is also monitoring a 14-inch gas line near the ruptured one.

It appears that no one was hurt.  This time.

We like our fireworks real big in Texas.  We also like to limit liability and adore tort reform.

  1. My comment is, when you are having a chat with someone who votes Democrat but mostly hangs out with ruffly GOPers and probably has cognitive dissonance disorder as a result, be sure and tell her about Abbottt’s $10 mill. settlement and his reform (was it tort or tart? I forget) that only lets other folks who get hurt never to get more than $250,000.

  2. Generally fireworks produce more light and less obscurity.

  3. They punctured a pipeline? Like they couldn’t read the screen on their monitor to see where it was located? They have all these cool tools, don’cha know, so what is exactly their problem? That photo looks like one helluva bad dream! My condolences to the locals who had their lives disrupted. They must be living on pins and needles!

  5. And now, Greg Abbott is campaigning on.the theme of…..and,.. I’m paraphrasing here ” Texans are over-regulated and over-taxed”????

  6. It was not a good week for Chevron. This happened less than 24 hours later: http://tinyurl.com/l8pey2t

“An early-morning explosion and fire Friday at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery killed a plant operator, sent up a huge plume of smoke and rattled windows and doors of homes in nearby neighborhoods.”

Oh, and don’t forget that he said he didn’t have any problem with the parts of Texas that don’t need water to send the water to the parts of Texas that DO need water. Exactly where in Texas do they not need water? How many of you have friends/relatives in small towns in Texas, the ones running out of water?

  8. They don’t need water on Abbott’s lawn.
