Pro Gun Rally Outside the Alamo

October 20, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, it’s one thing for Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson to use the powers of his office to further his political career by holding a gun rally on the grounds of a Texas shine and graveyard.

It’s another thing to scare the crap outta tourists and little kids because you have a gun fetish.

.

But it’s a whole ‘nother thing to misuse scripture from St Paul and St Luke, dammit.  Luke quotes Jesus speaking metaphorically about the sword of the spirit.  Sweet Jesus was making an analogy about the rich and the poor, not about killing people.  And St Paul was talking about belonging to God in spirit  even if you are a slave.  St Paul was not opposed to government; he was opposed to heresy.  And gun rallies.

Okay, okay, so I made up the gun rally part.  However, I know one thing for sure.  If Jesus had come back yesterday in San Antonio throwing the money changers out of the temple would have looked like child’s play.

Thanks to Kathleen for the heads up.

Amen, JJ … these people simply do NOT get the Jesus part of anything!!

  2. They also marched to a city park where there’s an ordinance against carrying guns. It seems like they were trying to create a scene and provoke the cops. There was also a guy with a sign recruiting members for a white supremacist group. Classy.

I’m thinking of contacting Patterson and asking how I can rent out the Alamo for an anniversary party. Now that its open for business and all.

  3. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “Remember the Alamo.”

@ LynnN-most folks Texans and otherwise don’t remember the loss at the Alamo for what it really was anyway.A lost battle in the effort to maintain Texas as a slave-holding territory since Mexico had outlawed the practice in 1829 and the newcomers to formerly Mexican territory wished to preserve the practice decided a war of independence would be just the deal.Since losing to the Mexicans there was not enough to teach them anything they decided to continue the war then throw in with the confederacy which didn’t go much better. This “rally does,as you say, give new meaning to the phrase and will be the only one the T-pottiers remember.

  5. I don’t know who scares me more – the right wing gun nuts or the gang bangers. At least the gang bangers aren’t out to overthrow the government.

  6. “I Want My Right”. The only one they care about and to hell with everybody else’s rights.

  7. I’m guessing that part of the Bible about “he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword” didn’t show up on many signs at this rally…

    If Jesus packed heat,
WCPDyTJP? “What caliber piece doya think Jesus packed?”

  9. Bring back the stewardship of the DRT. They didn’t and wouldn’t put up with such shameless theatrics at the shrine.

  10. Does Patterson realize he established a precedent? I can just imagine the exact shade of purple he will turn when the National Organization for Women hold an event there, and can’t be stopped from doing so!

  11. I’ve said time and again, but I will say it again–you can NOT make this stuff up!! This is why this is my favorite web place to visit…

  12. I hear Jeb’s son “P” (George P. Bush but he goes by “P” like Dubya goes by “W” and as awful as it would be, I’d rather be called “W” than “P”) is running for Land Commissioner — or is it Ag Commissioner? Whichever one it is, Kinky Friedman’s running for the other. Wonder how that’ll all work out?

  13. Ralph Wiggam says:

The Alamo was a house of God before it was a platform for political stunts. God must be so proud of how his people treat his home.

  14. ….and it just keeps getting better and better. Now Ted (approval rating 40 per cent of Texans according to the Houston Chronicle Sunday 20th edition ) says that he will try to shut down the government a second time. Do you suppose that it is because the first one was such a success?

A Great Big “thank you ” to Juanita Jean for keeping the wonderful news coming!
