Please Meet the Next Doofus in the Unending Line of Texas Republican Doofuses

October 05, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Republican Congressvarmint Michael Burgess is an old white man who represents north Texas.  He is very afraid of the Affordable Care Act.  He’s just almost sure that it’s a tool of the devil.  So, he got butt cement sucking scared on opening day when a boatload of people went to the website.

“I think if you subtract out members of Congress and their staff and reporters who called in those first 48 hours the numbers will be considerably lower,” Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX), who is also a medical doctor, told CNN. “We will have an opportunity to dissect these numbers in our subcommittee of oversight investigations later this month or next month.”

Oversight investigations?  What the hell?

Okay, I counted the members of congress and members of the press who might give a flip about it and and I didn’t even come up with 5,000, much less 6 million.

And we’ve been trusting this man with our money.  He cannot freekin’ count.

Thanks to Lizbeth for the heads up.

  1. Yep, he’s my congressvarmint. He, the ObGyn physician of fetal masturbation fame! I truly wish there were someone the Denton County Dems could nominate to defeat this loon. Unfortunately, this is Dick Armey’s district and the teabagger is strong up here.

  2. Here’s the other side of the coin on that knucklehead’s blathering:

    http://www.politicususa.com/2013/09/25/107-words-bernie-sanders-obliterates-ted-cruzs-21-hour-fake-filibuster.html

I just watched THIS video and read the words that along come with it. It’s good stuff, and I’m sure all of Mz. JJ’s fans will want to take a look at it today.

    2
  3. oops….”that come along with it”…..

    3
  4. Just a note–I don’t trust him or any of his cronies with my money.

    4
  5. On the day congressmen and their staff shut down the government, and according to Republicans were working hard to negotiate and compromise an end to the shutdown, they still had time to check out the Affordable Care website several million times? I hope his Oversight Committee takes a look at how something like that could happen.

    5
  6. I would say there must be something in the water in Texas. Maybe the drought will have an upside. 😀

    6
  7. @michaelburgessmd trolls @Eykis on the Twitter machine. Calling him a lying scumbag upsets his delicate sensibilities…he swoons.

    7
  8. Dissect? He means obfuscate. They can’t stand the thought that the poor and middle class in this country are clamoring for affordable health insurance and Big Insurance is funding the Repug fight against it.

  9. W. C. Peterson says:

If this doofus has so much subcommittee free time to waste “investigating” website hits, you would think they would have enough subcommittee free time to work on a jobs bill that they promised before the last election. But Republicans are incapable of telling the truth, so I guess that will never happen.

    9
  10. Was this the idiot who, when the rethugs all stood in line in white coats for a photo op, was the one in front standing there with a stethoscope around his neck?

    10
  11. @Joan, Yep, he was one of the “Doctors” lined up. He is one of those who wants to get all up in the lady parts!

    12
  12. Succommittee? Is he kidding? One of the things these Rethugs don’t want you to know is how often they never show up for such duties. There are websites that keep count of how many times they vote for whatever but I have yet to find one that keeps track of their absences from committee duty. There was a time when Congress critters had way too many committee and subcommittee assignments and couldn’t possibly handle them all, but from what I can tell, now most of them have maybe a whole hot 3 such assignments. Another reason why I want these loons to be paid by the hours and use a time clock!

    13
  13. maggie: I’ve written to my “congressman,” asking him to return all the paychecks he’s stolen over the years. Still no reply. My husband keeps remind me that the idiot is basically harmless since he never actually does anything. I still want the money back.

    14
  14. I guess this guy felt he needed to unskew the numbers. I mean, it worked so well for Dean Chambers. Just ask President Romney.

    15
  15. For all the posters and especially you and yours JJ–I’m sorry, but for the amount of damage your rethug TPs have caused to our country with their dum bass stances, (really riled, sorry momma) the rest of the states should kick Texas out of the union. Maybe we could arrange for Austin to be left in, and you guys to move there. I’ll donate for moving costs and relocating expenses…
Texas Needs To Go–that’s Cruz, Ducky Jammies, yacht boy, Mikie (if he likes it you know it’s bad) and Dr. Vaginal probe, just to name the most vocal nuts, GONE–and that has tremendous appeal–I’m send money for Wendy–and more to you JJ to divide up as you see fit–but dang! (to paraphrase a statement that was made in “Men In Black” by Will Smith)

  16. Ellen Childress says:

I don’t understand why Texans as a whole are not ashamed of what this state has produced to govern. All I can do is look at those who elect these idiots and wonder how on earth we have so many backwoodsy, ignorant, nasty people living here.
I still think we need to ask Queen Elizabeth to take us back. If this is democracy or a democratic republic or a representative democracy, then we have failed utterly. The terms that best define our government at just about every level are fascism , an oligarchy, and a threatening presence of theocracy.

    17
  17. If I were a patient of his, I’d definitely seek a second opinion.

It is a proven, scientific fact that you cannot shame a rethuglican. They have no conscience and the only guilt feelings they have is that the 1% doesn’t have all the money.

    19
  19. JJ, Elise and everyone else, the Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Alabama, does their very obvious job of defending this country. Anyone in uniform at that site is exempted from shutdown furlough which is fine but it is the bunch of contractors and subcontractors on site that do the hands on work with the missiles and they are in danger of being sent home indefinitely due to this shutdown. Both Senator Sessions and the Congresscritter (“Mo”) have offices in Huntsville that are locked. Maybe we can’t get them to bestir themselves and end this shutdown but here’s what they claim to want for the state of Alabama: that the MDC in Huntsville form the nucleus of the Pentagon of the South! They are too dumb to realize that as long as they stick with certain thought patterns, that ain’t never gonna happen! Could be this is the best kind of swatback they could ever get.

Here is how rethugs in iowa help the socialist law enforcement officers. Helps to know that when you need a cop,a rethug is helping the offenders. Texas doesn’t have all the doofs.

    21
  21. e platypus, even the “right” just don’t do things right in Iowa! The guv got pulled over for speeding and the driver was a state cop? That would never happen here. The guv always has a highly identifiable vehicle driven, as usual, by a state cop with another state cop as co-pilot. It is not unusual for the guv’s car to have a state police motorcycle escort. This opens up traffice wherever he goes. Somebody should tell Branstad about this.

As for the Rethugs advice on disobeying a lawful order, doesn’t that break a law in itself?

    22
  22. e platypus onion says:

Guv Braindead told the people of iowa that his drivers better follow traffic laws or else…..I’m guessing the “or else” means it’s all Obama’s fault. rethuglican math and logic says that two negatives(being a rwnj and disobeying a lawful order) =one pos. and for Mama’s sake I’m not transposing p-o-s.

    23
  23. According to Burgess’ website,
In 2009, Dr. Burgess founded, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Congressional Health Care Caucus. The Health Care Caucus is committed to advancing reforms that reduce costs, increase patient control, expand choice, and promote cures.
From the Health Care Primer online, prepared by Burgess for the CHCC in 2009:
…While most Americans are pleased with the coverage they receive through their employers, when they change jobs they are forced to get new insurance. Republicans should support efforts to make individuals’ health care portable from job to job.
…While employer-based coverage is important and popular, the tax system should be changed to provide equality for those wishing to buy their own insurance. With many Americans self-employed or periodically unemployed, it is nearly impossible, due to cost, for them to purchase their own health insurance.

    24
  24. Republican logic is that if you break one law or order, you just need to break another one to cancel out the first one. It’s kinda like we use to say at work: “I’m leaving early to make up for coming in late.” But, we were joking when we said it.

  25. Marge Wood says:

When I watch political stuff I always think THERE’S GOT TO BE A WAY TO GET AROUND THIS, IF I CAN JUST THINK OF IT. I think sitting quietly and watching is the best I can do now and it is driving me nuts. Well, sure, contact our legislators. If we can. When I think of my dearly loved relatives who are big Cruz supporters I think OH NO. When I think about Cruz being a Dominionist I think OH GAG. When I think about the fact that ALEC is only ONE of the front companies for the Koch brothers, well, you get the idea.

Well Umpty, he already has his head where the sun don’t shine, that makes his head an Obstruction and could explain why they always are bent out of shape instead of flexible. These tools don’t believe in science, did he get his medical degree off a box of Cheerios?(Pop-Tarts would have been more risque)

    29
  29. Ah I see the right wing’s information bubble remains as impermeable as ever.

    Excellent!

    30
  30. You still haven’t closed that mail order medical degree racket?

    31
  31. It beggers common sense to see how doctors who get elected to office turn out to be such bad politicians. As for where they got their degree – and maybe even board certification – thats a darn good question. Rand Paul never really finished his “medical” education as an eye doctor. As for board certification,he created his own board and awarded himself the certification.

  32. e platypus onion says:

A moment of sanity, the guv of iowa now has his state-provided vehicle license plates entered in the state’s data base for the times when he is speeding and/or running lights. Before this, the police had no way to know whose vehicle they were pursuing.
