Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Hey! No laying down on the job!
1😀
We were packed in at Scholz’s in Austin to watch on the big screen. Yeah: “Less lone and more star.”
2Go, Wendy! I think you’re going to do it.
3SW Austin Battleground Texas watch party was packed. Lots of us were crying as she announced. In addition to clapping and cheering.
WHAT A DELIGHT TO HAVE A CANDIDATE WE LOVE!!
Hurrah!
I’ve ordered my donkey earrings and my Wendy Davis pink tennis shoes. And I’m deputized to register voters.
I await the opening of her Austin campaign office. I’ll be the one that’s there night and day.
Of course, if she really does trade in her tennis shoes for combat boots, I can adapt. After all, I’ve never had combat boots. They’d be a great conversation starter.
4And those of us not privileged to know her are still behind her, because of her heroics, her bravery, her willingness to take on those doddering fools on the right. I love Wendy and will be making a contribution, as will my daughter: Brooklyn and Lancaster PA will be heard from.
GO WENDY GO!
5Made my first donation to the cause tonight. It won’t be my last. Go Wendy!!
6My Wendy Davis pink shoes should be here Monday. Where can I buy the donkey earrings? Dumb me, I’ll google it.
7Fewer replies here so I am writing. I am sick at heart from learning that Ted Cruz is a Dominionist and that apparently is behind his actions. It nearly made me sick. I guess we could find out a way to impeach him.
8Onward and upward with Wendy! Stand strong.
Good turn out at Abilene event tonite. Exhausted, but proud to be working on this campaign.
9I got an e-mail solicitation from an outfit called DFA. The $$ is for Wendy. I never heard of this bunch and I certainly don’t want to be scammed. Can I donate to Wendy’s campaign through this site? I already have the pink shoes. They are amazingly comfortable! Can walk forever in them!
10Something else. Randy-Pandy did not get off scot free when he bullied the lady park ranger at the WWII memorial. There were other people around her who gave the Congresscritter whatfor, especially the out of work men. It got hot enough for someone in authority to break it up. This was the part of the video you weren’t shown. As of Wednesday, 17 Repugs had jumped off the S.S. Boehner and were calling for a vote on a clean funding bill. These were the 17 who made it into the newspapers. Have a hunch there are a lot more but Boehner, caring more about his “feelings” than this country, has yet to budge. My dream is that all of his disaffected Repugs TOTALLY jump ship and become Democrats, thereby costing the Weeper of the House his job. That’s just on the house side. The Senate is ganging up on the Carnaval.
11Hey, Maggie.
I “googled” “DFA donate to Wendy Davis” and got links to “Democracy for America” headed by Howard Dean. Here’s a link:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/10/03/texas-state-sen-wendy-davis-announces-bid-for-gov/
…Davis can expect quite a bit of national support and national money because of her June filibuster. Minutes after an email went out to supporters formally announcing her candidacy shortly before the speech, Davis was endorsed by former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and his political group, Democracy for America.
“Wendy Davis is the voice of reason for Texas,” Dean said in a statement announcing the endorsement. “She has proven to be courageous and has the leadership to guide Texas back on track.”
12I have donated to DFA (Democracy for America) during two election cycles and they are a wonderful organization. I donated when they were pulling for Elizabeth Warren and still do. Glad to know my $ will help Wendy Davis. I also plan to donate to Turn Texas Blue. Whoo-hoo! Bring it on!
13Vermont is reliably blue and progressive, so I look elsewhere to make campaign donations. There are so-o-o-o many places that need to kick out the Tea Party maroons, where does one start? But I was born in Dallas, so Texas is at the top of my list. I love the WMDBS fighting spirit and ready JJ very morning. With y’all all the way!
14Thanks Elsie and VeeGee! I get paid today. Have to wait 24 hours for the check to clear the bank, then its on to donating to Wendy’s campaign!
15James Bear: Why does the motto “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” come to mind?
16JJ,
Thanks for the headline – what’s not to love and adore in “This Girl is on Fire”, yes, she is and it is wonderful. Gives me so much hope for my homestate.
17Battleground Texas also set up a new website, http://www.wendyforthewin.com or wftw. Was that it?
18Wow! Thanks to our Texas supporters for donating to Wendy Davis. With your help we can turn Texas humane.
19The San Antonio launch party was great! Leticia Van de Putte was on fire for her friend. We are waiting for Leticia to make an announcement, too. I want a tee shirt that says, Less Lone and more Star in Texas. A great big thanks to the Professional Firefighters Association for donating their hall for the party.
