I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends
Help! I’m in a hotel in Austin without CSPAN or MSNBC.
The story I am hearing is that Wendy Davis is an awful person for her filibuster but that Ted Cruz is a new founding father for reading Dr. Seuss.
There is a distinct difference between filibustering and some crazy guy who won’t shuddup.
Gurl!
1This queen has Got to sit down! I am sure her support hose are poppin.Thank God the US Senate don’t have any of those Filibuster rules about stayin on Point – she’d a had to bring her Toe Shoes. Now you too can sleep with that image in your head.
I try to give Cruz as little attention as possible. More and more he reminds me of Joe McCarthy– as long as he’s getting attention, he’s happier than a pig in muck.
2You could have spent the evening with us, just a mile south of Barton Springs, we have all the news channels. Although, we get all our news from John Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
3Yep, what Ted said. Looking forward to seeing you soon up the road at Sun City.
4Next time come and stay with us but you’d have to settle for the computer or iPad.
5Ted’s a lost ball just waitin’ on the Bush Hog.
6With Cruz filibuster becomes filibusted.
7Rachel Maddow had way too much fun comparing and contrasting Wendy Davis’s true filibuster with whatever it was that Maple Leaf Teddy has been on about into this evening. She even had a nice shot of Wendy’s sneaks and a comment about how well the MFG is doing at sales since her 13 hour effort. She also pointed out that Wendy will likely announce her run for Governor on Thursday week and Ted will be fielding questions about “Green Eggs and Ham”! Darn it, I wish I could eat popcorn!
8Just sent him a note. Canada kinda like their health plan. Opps, the is not Canadian.
9Crazed Cruz is to Texas what St. Josepth McCarthy was to Wisconsin… well, & Catholics. He’s in well-worn fly-over from Texas to Canada, and about to be disowned by his Senate buddies. Bye bye Teddy.
10Teddy’s meandering blather is proof that either he slid thru debate team or he has very early onset dementia. Slacker.
11I have a guest room with your name on it any time you’re in Austin, but I get all my news from the computer. The TV was being bad and I put it in the closet a long time ago and haven’t seen fit to retrieve it. Occasionally there’s something I very much want to see and then I beg friends to let me come over. Is that TV abuse? It WAS abusing me!
12How many more years of Ted Cruz do we have? Can’t Nixon’s ghost come ask him to resign for the good of the party? On the other hand, he’ll be neutered by his party and at the same time give the Dems a chance to win his Senate seat next time around.
13Hey, would someone pls give a link to where I can buy Wendy Davis Shoes, like the colorful ones she did for her filibuster?
Sure I can buy Kid Sis some Christmas presents but this would be classic, give her a laugh. Her daughter is coming up tomorrow and can help figure the precise size.
I already donated to Wendy, believe me I will be donating somemore!
14Thank you for your comment, Marion. The thought of Ted being neutered warms the “cockles” of my heart. 🙂
15Cruz will become an even bigger hero to intellectually challenged folks with Obama Derangement Syndrome and, alas, there seem to be a lot of them in Texas.
16If the ACA doesn’t cover mental health care for people like Cruz, at some point it should.
“Green Eggs and Ham” is just one of the voices he hears in his head.
17It’s not even a real filibuster! He ARRANGED it w Harry beforehand! The Bill comes up for vote this morning!

18Tedster, Green Eggs and Ham is for kiddies. Reading it aloud to attract a crowd in your “filibuster” is insulting to your own party especially. Lordie, man! Haven’t you ever heard of Huey Long and how he got kicked out of the Senate for malfeasance of mouth?
19This is part of the “greatest deliberative body” ever? Oh,how the mighty have fallen-sploink! Euwess senate and Texas senate have very different rules in place for fillibusters or is it just for women?
20One of my favorite things about the Internet is going to Rachel Maddow’s on-line link at http://www.nbcnews.com and watching complete videos of her show posted from the day before, as well as links to her earlier shows.
Here’s the Rachel link Gramian mentioned, which is well worth a look: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/26315908/#53099445
21The sociopath Ted Cruz is the modern day equivalent of Strom Thurmond.
22Maggie, I think, in the long run, ol’ “Green Eggs and Ham” is going to come back and haunt Raphael “The Teddie” Cruz.
THAT is one of the things the ol’ turd is going to be known for. Whatcha think?
I also think that there should be the playing of “O Canada” whenever he shows his ugly mug.
I actually love that national anthem, and I refuse to have it defiled simply by thinking of Cruz every time I hear it. Here’s one version that gives me goose bumps: http://video.mapleleafs.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=133727
However, this is one with a full choir and orchestra which is pretty darn suh-weet, too.
And, also. (Oops, channeling Scary Paylin there for a sec…..)
23Double oops…..
24That last link I forgot to actually include is a version of “O Canada” I found on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwDvF0NtgdU
Tail gunner Ted, is conducting a fake buster, he rails on giving us the worlds longest Presidential Announcement speech. He included Nazi’s, Star Wars and Dr. Seuss, he continues to blather on saying nothing while accomplishing nothing. The Ted Talk was prearranged with Reid so as not to interrupt the actual vote on the Bill which isn’t even scheduled to be brought to the floor until later today.
At least when Paul pseudo bustered (or is that blustered?) he did so to call attention to an issue that he felt no one was paying attention to, he was successful, he even got the attention of members from both parties and most importantly – he SAID SOMETHING, as opposed to Teddy who might as well have shown up in a bathrobe, paisley or otherwise.
Ted, said nothing, he has fewer supporters in his own party than he did before he started but that’s okay. He has always been the hero of his own story and he will continue to think he is the second coming (The National Review called him the Republican Party’s Obama this morning), even as he sends his people over the cliff (fiscal or metaphorical). All that matters is his grand ambition and the sound of his own voice.
Teddy can’t fill Wendy’s shoes much less stand or walk in them. He can’t stay on subject, he doesn’t have anything of substance to stay and lest we forget, biologically he doesn’t have the same obstacles to deal with that she did. He just hopes the magic will happen for him – it won’t, he’s “all hat and no cattle while Wendy made herself herd (pun intended).
25The old saying ‘better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot’ than to open your mouth and prove you are an idiot, this is what I think about when I see Cruz!
26How come The Cruz and his buddies got to switch back and forth for 19 hours but folks in the Texas Lege got in a snit about Wendy having to do it solo? What were the terms with Reid?
27Kath the Scrappy, I did an internet search on “wendy davis shoes” to find them. They are the Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider 16 running shoe. Amazon.com sells them, among others.
28The Cruz missile continues to fizzle.
29Would like to thank (sarcasm intended) those who voted for Narcissus Cruze protesting Dewhurst & Perry. Hereafter, please remember that wise old cliche about sticking with the devil you know.
30Be sure to complain to the hotel about lack of MSNBC. I make a fuss anytime a hotel does not offer it, especially if they do have Faux News. I do the same with physicians offices, car repair places, etc.
31I have a guestroom too, and cable, and the interwebs, and a resident geek, but I’m a wee bit out of Austin. Drop by anytime.
32The rules for a US Senate filibuster are quite different from the TX rules. And Cruz wasn’t technically filibustering. He was just hogging all the debate, preventing anyone from saying anything positive about ACA/Obamacare. I called it Grandstanding not filibustering earlier and I stand by my term. He wanted to attract attention, period, end of sentence.
Nowadays a US filibuster doesn’t even require standing up and talking, much less staying on topic, etc. That’s why “filibusters”, the non-talking kind, have skyrocketed in the Senate. That’s why it takes 60 senators to get anything done. In my opinon, the rules need to be changed back to require standing and talking. I don’t think they should be as rough as the TX rules (which is what makes Wendy’s stand so amazing, the US senate rules were never that tough), but they should require SOME skin in the game.
Sorry for the rant, but fixing the filibuster is one of those things that I would REALLY like to see done.
33You mustn’t forget what Winston Churchill said: A fanatic is someone who won’t shut up and won’t change the subject. Sounds kinda like Ted Snooze.
