Color Me Shiny Shocked!

September 11, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Well, who could have predicted this calamity?

Top 1% incomes grew by 31.4% while bottom 99% incomes grew only by 0.4% from 2009 to 2012. Hence, the top 1% captured 95% of the income gains in the first three years of the recovery.

So if you started with enough money to burn a wet elephant, you now have enough to air condition hell.

And that trickle down thing?  No, the rich people’s swimming pool ain’t leaking.  That means you’re still so poor that your kids have a tumbleweed as a pet.  And the 1% have just decided that tumbleweed is a delicacy.

Thanks to Mike for the heads up.

  1. Trickle. It’s like a leak. Not a gusher, not a cascade, not a waterfall, not a geyser, not a shower. A trickle.

  2. No, us 99% are being tinkled on.

    2
  3. Oh, it’s trickling down all right, all over the rest of us. It just doesn’t smell like prosperity.

  4. W C Peterson says:

Yellow Rain. That’s what I tagged it back when Ronald Wilson Reagan (always call criminals by their full given name) started spouting the nonsense in the 80s. It was bullshit then and still is bullshit now. “Trickle Down” is supposed to be what the “Job Creators” do best, according to Republicans. Anybody seen any of it lately?

  5. What does it take to convince Repugs in the 99% that they are being pissed on? A brain transplant.

  6. Myrna in Minneapolis says:

Wow yes, everyone else has the same thought as I have had for years. When someone pisses on you, yeah, it trickles down.

  7. maryelle and Myrna … my thought exactly … we’re smart enough to know the difference between being trickled on and being pissed on. I was going to state this earlier but I was afraid of Mama so I let you all go first … LOL

  8. The cartoon is priceless.

  9. Yeah, we’re supposed to throw money at the “job creators” and let them do their thing. Hasn’t worked since 1980, isn’t working now. I say we cut them off.

Saw a report that the top 1% got 19.3% of the income last year, which beats the previous record in 1927. Good to know we’re making progress.

  10. Corinne Sabo says:

Trickle down translates to swamped by bills.

  11. And yet, the American people (you know the 99%) keep voting against their best interests.

  12. Blue Wolf Bosh says:

“The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover didn’t know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night, anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow’s hands.”
    -Will Rogers

As usual Will Rogers was right:
If you invest in the middle class the economy grows on all levels and the money still ends up in the hands and bank accounts of the rich, because wealth doesn’t trickle down, it really flows up.
Unfortunately when you reward the rich with unfair tax breaks and cuts and corporate welfare, they “invest” the money in Wall Street casino games, hide it overseas and use it to relocate even more American jobs overseas to increase their profit margins, and the middle class is left out in the cold.
With tax breaks and corporate welfare we give unending help to those who are not in need.

Whether you call it “reaganomics”, “supply side economics”, “trickle down” or any other name the conservatives and the plutocrats, oligarchs and corporatists have been pushing the trickle down scam for a long time.

It’s possible that it might have originated with Nero or Caligula. More recently President Hoover tried it and LBJ opposed it before Reagan became the most recent to push the scam, not surprising since Reagan never really had an original thought or idea. The one constant throughout history is that it never worked no matter how many times they tried it and it won’t work now for today’s GOPee party either.

Trickle down economics, whether employed by Bush, Reagan, Hoover or anyone else has always been a tool for redistributing wealth from the middle and the bottom to the top.

Meanwhile the GOPee party continues redistributing wealth upwards while constantly lying to and scamming the American people as the continue to piss on our heads and try to persuade us that it is wealth trickling down.
