Yeah, But Does God Know?
Arkansas (thank you, thank you, thank you) State Senator Jason Rapert, the guy who pushed the 12 week abortion ban in Arkansas, has some news for you.
He doesn’t serve his constituents; he serves only God. Which, I suspect, makes him infallible and kinda edging in on the Pope’s territory.
“It’s more important to do what is right by God,” Rapert told an audience at the Faith2Action banquet in Columbus, Ohio, “than it is to please those that would rather have me talk about pro-life but not really do much about pro-life.”
I’m wondering if God has weighed in on cheesy porn-star Fu Machu’s.
Thanks to Norma for the heads up.
Quick, someone send him a Taliban outfit & a Koran.
1How does anyone not know the difference between being a politician and being a member of the clergy?
2So he’s admitting he committed perjury when he took his oath of office?
3Lorraine, IronCelt and Mike. Spot on.
4Here’s what they think of him in Arkansas!

5As folksinger Cheryl Wheeler has said, “When God tells you what to do, that’s fine. When God tells you to tell ME what to do, we have a problem.”
6Did he say anything about what God told him to do about the ones who were born? like feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit those in prison? and maybe see that single parents can afford to pay their rent and buy groceries all at the same time? (I know, Jesus was assuming that folks would take in the homeless.) Now that’s an idea. Everyone adopt a homeless person and walk them through life. I like that.
7We here in Arkansas are just trying to compete with Texas for Looney Capital of the World.
8If his priority is serving God I’m not sure what he’s doing in politics.
9Nice thing to tell all those stupid folks that voted for him, thinking that he was going to represent THEM and make THEIR voices heard in our political process.
10Bet he heard the sound of MONEY, tho…….
Separation of church and state.
11Does God have the required voter ID?
12Okay!!! One of the oldest known ways to serve God is to be a hermit living on the top of a very, very steep pile of rocks in the middle of some damn desert and being fed by ravens. I guess Repart never got the memo or thought he was being subpeoned and ran.
13So he does what he thinks God wants on this issue, but not so much for the poor, elderly or disenfranchised. Those he pretty much ignores. Save us from the selective saint.
14“… cheesy porn-star Fu Ma(n)chu’s.”
Gurl!! What videos are you watchin’ in the back room?
15It’s amazing how many people claim to speak in God’s voice. God must be one hell of a ventriloquist.
16If our government was a theocracy, that would be acceptable.
But in a representative form of government he was elected to represent his constituents, all of them.
Rapert is up for reelection in 2014, hopefully there are enough people in his district in Arkansas who think he should be representing them rather than his god, and send him packing.
17If he’s a state senator from Arkansas, what was he doing at a banquet in Columbus, Ohio? Who paid for him to get there? God? or the people who paid taxes in Arkansas?
Don’t any of these elected officials stay in their home state? (ok, they can be in their DC offices if they’re US-level pols.) I mean I’d love to see Perry and Cruz leave Texas — but I mean “leave for good”, not “leave at taxpayer expense to attend some shebang in another state”.
