I Love It When That Happens
Okay, so the rightwing Heritage Foundation did a push poll on Obamacare so they could extort Republican congresssheep to shut down the government rather than fund Obamacare.
That would be a foolproof plan if there weren’t so damn many rightwing fools.
And yet, despite oversampling Republicans and asking misleading questions, the poll still finds that pluralities favor keeping Obamacare and that Republicans would bear the brunt of the public’s wrath if the government shuts down.
So bring it on, bad boys.
Take a look at who is funding the Heritage Foundation:

Sweet!
2I also see that when they go to vote only 9.1% are concerned with the national debt; 3.8% with taxes; 3.8% with abortion; and 1.7% immigration!
Keep up the good work boys on demonizing that immigration issue since it’s an issue with almost 2 people out of 100!
3II am able to purchase health insurance now BECAUSE of the ACA. No complaints from me at all.
4What most people should be concerned about is the decline of the middle class and the increasing income inequality. I wish the Dems would focus on this. It’s not as though they don’t have sufficient evidence.
ObamaCare fits in nicely because it does bolster the middle class.
5LynnN, You are so right. Somehow folks need to be able to afford a place to live, food to eat, etc. And now that ACA is on the horizon way more businesses are hiring temps or part time or “contract” workers. Is this good or bad?
6The Republicans asinine demand. Kick millions of disadvantaged people out of healthcare coverage or we will shut down the government. “Par for the course in stupidity”.
7If you live your life based on faith in distortions, smart arsed comments, and BS, you stand a very good chance of being a Republican.
8It’s all part of the “all life is sacred” Repug theme until the fetus is born and then they couldn’t give a rat’s ass. If you’re not born white, male and rich the sacred rubs off real quick.
9LynnN, while you are correct, Obamacare is precisely one such measure which helps with that.
A very significant number of Americans get kicked out of the middle class because they have a catastrophic healthcare issue. A very significant number of Americans also can never pull themselves up into the middle class because they have existing conditions, which denies them reasonable healthcare, and therefore reasonable health. Also, a significant number of Americans struggle to save because they are paying so much for their current health insurance.
By addressing all these issues, Obamacare is doing precisely what we think the Dems should be doing.
Now, I will be the first to admit that Obamacare isn’t the best solution (and probably not even a very good solution), however, the current healthcare system in the US is so poor that even this barely average solution has tremendous positive effects on a very large number of citizens.
With the Republican tantrums in Congress, and in states, the #1 priority for Dems should be to ensure the successful rollout of Obamacare. Once that happens, they can start focusing on all the many other issues.
10OOPS!!!!!
11As the grandmother of an almost six year old who was born with a mess of pre-existing conditions (CHARGE Syndrome) I am wildly enthusiastic about Obamacare. He can’t be thrown off his parents insurance by some green eye shaded insurance hack.
I sent a picture of him to our Congressvarmint with the note “This little boy is benefiting from Obamacare. If I have to choose between this precious child and you, you don’t have a prayer.”
12Hurray for you, TexasEllen.
13From the referenced Salon article, “steel the spine of Republican leaders.”
14Ummm, after they were stolen by the Tea Partiers.
TexasEllen… send that picture of your grandchild and note to Rick Perry, Greg Abbott, et al.
15For being so religious, it certainly is Darwinian…survival of the fittest.
