Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
1Higher than I would have put it. I wonder what starting basis they used?
277 cents! Hey, that Susan B. Anthony Repigican bunch just doesn’t get it, do they! Must be they were all standing behind a door when grey cells were handed out!
3Is the work women do worth less or worthless? Either way we’re devalued, but according to the conservative Repugs, if we don’t breed and stay home with the kids, we’re not worth one red cent.
4We have to trust in God because so far the men haven’t made this injustice right.
5Oh, dumb me. I just thought that was a devalued dollar.
6New topic: it will make you happy to know that my old friend on Long Island says not to worry about Perry having undue influence in New York and Connecticut; nobody there takes him seriously.
Somewhere in a box that hasn’t seen the light of day in years, I have a lapel pin that says $.59. Yeah, things have improved, but twenty-two cents per hour in 30 years? Puh-leeze,,,,,
7Well, Miss Prissy, the wages went UP, and then they went DOWN. Way down.
8Hi, Miss Prissy,
Yep, I have one of those 59-cent pins, too. Got mine in 1980 or thereabout. ‘Nuf said, right?
9My (female) cousin tells me it’s now up to 82 cents. Woo Woo!
10I knew they still weren’t taking us seriously when they made the Susan B. Anthony look exactly like a damn quarter.
11Marge, I did, too. Didn’t realize it was a wage discrepancy thing. I once lost a promotion to a male new hire (I’d been there over 3 years) because “he has a family to support. I’d been promised that slot if it ever became available. I left the agency. He didn’t last 6 months because it was 35% travel and he didn’t want to be away from his family that much. So they lost the experienced engineer and the new hire both, leaving them at half staff. It was very unChristian of me to gloat and I asked sweet Jesus to forgive me, but gloat I did when the new hire didn’t stay.
12Yep. Another day, another 77 cents.
13Being of the male gender, that coin should read 125 cent. Or maybe more.
