The Rotten Two-Faced Scoundrels

April 18, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Rick Perry, who is perfectly willing to let working families go without health care rather than take money from Washington, DeeCee, and who threatens to secede from the union about once a week because the federal government is evil, evil I tell you, is shuffling around with his hat in his hands.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) on Thursday declared a disaster area and said he planned to request federal funds in response to an explosion at a fertilizer plant in Waco that may have killed as many as 15 people.

At a press conference, the governor thanked President Barack Obama for calling for offer quick action after Wednesday night’s explosion.

Oh yeah, this is the same sumbitch who said that Washington DeeCee is spending our grandchildren into poverty.

I just cannot wait to hear what Ted Cruz has to say about this after he voted against relief for hurricane Sandy victims, pompously proclaiming ….

“This bill is symptomatic of a larger problem in Washington — an addiction to spending money we do not have. The United States Senate should not be in the business of exploiting victims of natural disasters to fund pork projects that further expand our debt.”

Let’s watch these two make political hay out of the victims in West, Texas.  I can promise you that few rungs are gonna get knocked out from under their ladder.

I think this is akin to Senator Rob Portman.  When it’s you ox that’s being gored, it’s a different ballgame.

Perry and Cruz both can kiss my big blue butt.

Be social and share!

So will the RNC make Perry into the same kind of Parriah they made NJ Gov. Christie into? Sure doesn’t bode we’ll for any future White House ambitions…

    1
  2. W C Peterson says:

That is so yesterday, according to the Republicans. Christie thanked Obama BEFORE the elections. This is after the elections and therefore different.

  3. You mean we make bomb makings in towns? Really?

Yes, I know it is fertilizer, but it is a primary ingredient in ANFO, the poor man’s bomb.

Then again, my college roommate works at Pantex, the final assembly point of nuclear weapons. In her college COOP days, she made TATB, the explosive that sets off nuclear weapons and did one of her seminar presentations on it.

The things folks don’t know is in their backyards is amazing, and mostly not that hard to discover.

Meanwhile, yeah, Perry won’t have any trouble turning his Janus face to ask for funds for this, nor will Cruz vote against it. Immediate relief from an emergent tragedy, yes. Relief from a long-term need like health care, not so much.

  4. Perry & Cruz are in a lose-lose situation. They say thank you to Obama, they lose. They don’t say thank you to Obama, they lose. Maybe this will teach them (for a few days or weeks) that sometimes you just have to do what is right for the people of West, Texas. All of the people of West, Texas.

  5. There’s an internet expression that I’m not sure if I’ve seen here: IOKIYAR– It’s OK If You’re a Republican. (Unless you’re Chris Christie being judged by another Republican.)

Now that the proverbial shoe is on the other foot, does it pinch just a bit,
Perry? Wasn’t FEMA the third thing you were going to get rid of?

  7. OldMayfly says:

Hey, give Ted Cruz a break. Here’s the distinction–the people in Sandy Hook were victims of a Natural disaster. Act of God–get it? So they deserve no help from the government.

The people in Waco are victims of a Corporate disaster. Lack of safety measures, disregard for workers’ well-being, etc. in order to increase Corporate Profit.

So, of course, the Taxpayers should immediately send aid to Waco.

(Disclaimer–I think the Feds should send aid to Waco, and also spend a bunch investigating that plant and prosecuting if and when there is a case for reckless disregard.)

  8. Rick wants to secede when he does not want to pay taxes, but when he wants money, he is part of the good ole’ US of A.

I am bitter. I am sick of Rick Perry, his friends like Ted Cruz, and his games. Why should Perry have a stock pile of money, yet ask for more and then bites the hand that feeds him?

    I hate republican politics.

  9. Elise Von Holten says:

Good grief, yes! We must bail the corporations, people all, out of the indefensible position that this ” accident” puts them in–we are one people under God, and corporations are people , my friend. Acts of god against a lot of people are not the same as one corporate person making a mistake, let’s give the corporation that suffered so much from this accident, lots and lots of cash–that’s what the federal government is for..Perry and Cruz will have no shame in asking, instead they will preen under the spotlight…sigh

  10. Kay Carrasco says:

My friend Matt, an EMT/Firefighter in Ft. Davis, just posted that there are *eleven* first responders dead or missing. Eleven! God have mercy. And *their own governor* would exploit them this way?!? If thoughts could kill…..

    10
  11. Why was Greg Abbott doing a press conference in West? He had no information, no answers. His motive was clearly to get some press attention. He should have stayed home and kept quiet because he looked totally incompetent compared to the local police sargeant who conducted an earlier presser.

    11
  12. From the “Rick Perry’s greatest hits file”…

    http://www.texasiconoclast.com/weblog/category/rick-perry-for-president-2012/

He “wants to make the federal government as insignificant as possible”.

I guess until HE wants something.

    12
  13. Mz Patti says:

My friends…. John Cornyn, who is up for re-election in 2014, also voted against Hurricane Sandy funds, and while I do not know who represents West, Texas in Congress, I’d bet big bucks that they ALSO voted against Hurricane Sandy funds.

Yeah, they can all kiss my big blue butt, too.

    13
  14. @Jane: Exactly! He’s running for governor, don’t you know, and ad to go there and describe what everyone can see fr themselves. Schmuck…

    14
  15. Aggieland liz says:

Oh yeah, y’all, and Abbott’s gonna prosecute all the gougers that descend on West…right up til they make a big donation to his war chest! Faugh! >:#

    15
  16. Umptydump says:

Having busted his spear trying to poach businesses from California, Perry is trying the same thing in Illinois. This week he’s been voicing spots on Chicago’s leading newsradio station, promising to visit next week to bring the Texas business gospel. No doubt he’ll want to set aside some time in the evenings to drop in to the Manhandler Saloon and similar night spots along North Halsted. Despite his politics, they still may give him a warm welcome if he doesn’t come on too strong.

    16
  17. As far as Perry & Cruz goes, my head is spinning. As far as fertilizer plants go, who, in their right mind would live anywhere close to them? Anyone remember the Murray Federal Building bombing? Fertilizer.

    17
  18. “At a press conference, the governor thanked President Barack Obama for calling for offer quick action after Wednesday night’s explosion.”

Rick Perry is a tool of that Muslim foreign-born un-American black man occupying our White House. Impeach Perry now!

    18
  19. Sam in Kyle says:

Let’s not forget that the plant in West was allowed to operate without a permit until they were caught in 2006 and that the state has not inspected them for 5 years. The onus is directly on the anus, Rick Perry.

    19
  20. Thanks, Sam in Kyle. Think anyone will be prosecuted, or will Federal money take care of any little problems?

That aside, I’m sorry for the victims and their families. I’ll pray for them all.

    20
  21. @Kay, My middle name is also Kay, and believe me, if thoughts could kill -you and I would have cleaned the whole damn world up by now!!!
    Maybe we’re lucky they don’t?

    21
  22. Rural towns often have concentrations of fertilizer in feed store/fertilizer suppliers nearby. If you go visit the small towns, you see that. It’s when a nearby city grows, or a more distant one in the case of people commuting to Dallas from West (as one of the first responders killed did) and developers look for cheap land to build housing on, that suddenly housing’s put too close to the dangerous stuff. Local planning and zoning isn’t done by experts; in our case, at one period, it was done by the city secretary (no longer there, praise the Lord, and I am not kidding.) If someone sells off some land to a developer because they’re tired of farming, or their dad died and they live in Dallas…suddenly you have people living next door to a fertilizer plant that used to be a mile or so out of town.

That the plant wasn’t permitted until 2006, and hasn’t been inspected–has just turned in whatever reports it wanted–is definitely the fault of the “pro-business” mindset in both Texas and the entire Republican establishment who regularly insist that regulation is unnecessary and businesses can police themselves. Yeah, like that peanut processing plant that caused so much disease…like the plants that put toxic chemicals in our water supply…like all the industrial “accidents” that are preventable with enough money put into equipment, maintenance, and staff training and supervision (and inspections, dammit) so employees don’t make stupid mistakes.

“Accidents” in quotes because my mother the engineer used to say “Accidents don’t happen…they are caused” and “There are no accidents–they are all caused, and you better find the cause and prevent more.”

    22
  23. I would have to be physically restrained if Gov Hungover and I were in the same room right now. And it would take 12 men, strong and true to restrain this old witch.

    23
  24. The recent explosion in Texas is horrible and I’m glad that the feds are quickly stepping up.

Now if they could only do something about the horrors that are Perry and Cruz.

    24
  25. For those that don’t know, nitrogen is part of the plant growth cycle.

Most of the nitrogen fertilizer plants in the US are the result of a switch over from making munitions in WWII>

It is a process invented by a German early in the 20th Century.

    25
  26. I’m seeing a pushback on many websites against Cruz, how can any one man be as evil as he is? And who voted for him?
He continually fought against aid for Sandy victims. The corporation must step up and pay for everything, that’s the free market that they keep on about, it is up to Perry to make these corporations pay – especially the ones that give him kickbacks!

    26
  27. Geez…Perry, Cruz and the other Texas nitwits are the perfect example of Hanlon’s Razor (Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.)

    27
  28. Vicky Jackson says:

    Juanita, I love you! VJ

    28
  29. It says something when senior Republican senators have had it with Cruz for grabbing the microphone and upstaging them, then spewing patently false statements on the issues. Unfortunately they do not seem to know how to control this monster of the tea party’s making.

    29
  30. Actually these guys are right in step with the current GOP platform: government that benefits me is wonderful; government that benefits anyone else (especially poor people, women and minorities) is evil incarnate.

    30
  31. Ah, is it a sin to watch the Teaparty poots as they slowly and boa constricter like squeeze out what life is left in the Republican party? if it is, this is a sin I’m enjoying much too much.

    31
  32. Ellen Childress says:

If I were President Obama , I would tell Rick Perry to go find his own money to help the people of West, Texas. Why should Perry be wanting my hard won tax dollars to take care of people he cares nothing about and is willing to drop down the black hole of secession at the first chance he gets? He has no compassion. He is, however, a clever, self-serving actor who, like the coyote in Native American stories, is a shape-shifter. If he and the Texas republicans get their hands on disaster relief funds, the people of West will see little of that money.

    32
  33. Surely this will cause Texans to WAKE UP and realize we must expand the EPA and get rid of all idiot RePigs, sheesh~plants not inspected for decades, just send in your note, “we ‘b okie dokie” and then it BLOWS UP in your state, town, living room~

    33
  34. I wonder how much “campaign contributions” or “under-the-table” kickbacks any local or state reps received for ignoring any safety regulations?
