I Guess He Figured He Could Get Away With It Because Everybody Was At CPAC

March 17, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

New York Republican Assemblyman Steve Katz is vehemently against marijuana, even medical marijuana.  He  apparently drew this position while stoned.

Last week, Katz was ticketed for doing 80mph in a 65mph zone.  He also possessed marijuana in his car.

Katz, who is on the state’s mental health committee, was ready with an answer:

“This should not overshadow the work I have done over the years for the public and my constituency. I am confident that once the facts are presented that this will quickly be put to rest.”

Questioned by a reporter about whether voters might draw conclusions from the traffic stop, Katz said, “That’s exactly what I want them to do.”

He then added that he has voters right where he wants them – fetching him a large bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos at the gas station grocery section.

  1. Maybe somebody will send him some Brownies?

    1
  2. One of he cops who pulled Katz over said later, “the greasy bag with 25 Jack In The Box tacos sitting on the passenger seat next to him made us suspicious”

Boy, he is tricky isn’t he. Watch what they do, not what they say. I do have to say, I got a whoppin’ ticket once while not stoned, inebriated or otherwise disabled. I was driving 85 mph out in west Texas where it looks like there’s nobody anywhere. Great place to give tickets. I also did not have marijuana in the car.

Now exactly WHY did a box of Tacos make the cops suspicious? They were hungry, maybe?

  4. It was a test–a test I tell you! See–look what getting stoned and then driving at high rates of speed will do to you. I meant to do it just so I’d be pulled over and busted as an example to my constituents.

–Quote from ex-Assemblyman Katz before he began spending more time with his family and herb garden.

  5. Nothing sweeter than catching a rat being a rat!!

  6. As the 420 crowd will tell you, Jack In The Box tacos are legendary “munchie” food, Marge…at least, that’s what I read on the Internets 🙂

  7. Look at it this way! Of late, the Repugs have been the party of sex, sex, sex! Think about it! Now, this bozo comes along with a different take on things – namely, drugs. Now all that is needed is some Repug yahoo who is caught out being totally into rock and roll. Believe me, it will happen!

Hey Maggie, Chris Christie was pining for the Boss to take notice of him, and Mr Springsteen would know something about rock n roll. Of course, Mr Christie failed the true conservative litmus test and did not get invited to CPAC, so maybe he doesn’t cow t after all. Not being a reeeel conservative and all!

That “cow t” was meant to be “count” don’t know what my phone is thinking. Cow t?

Driving while stoned is the only way to fight the War on Drugs.

  11. It makes sense to me. Most Republican representatives don’t want the rest of us to get the same health care plan as they have. They don’t want us to share their retirement plan. So why shouldn’t they expect to have their own speed limits and drug laws? How many of us could expect to receive this treatment from police on a drug stop:
“Katz turned over a small bag of what appeared to be marijuana… was not taken into custody, police said, because he did not appear to be impaired.”

We’ve always know there was a huge dope problem in the GOP. One dope after another.

    13
  14. Given that he was speeding I think he needs to up his dosage and mellow out a little.

  15. Lorraine in Spring says:

OK, what stoner drives 85 in a 60 zone? His average should be about 30. I’d check him for something else.

    Arrogance has a new name————Katz

    16
  17. @ Rick: He wasn’t hauled in because he isn’t black, of course. Or poor. Either of those would have had his butt behind bars for that amount of grass.

    17
  18. This slime bucket is also a vet (animal not military) and he paid an employee (sex unknown) over $100,000 at some point to settle a sexual harassment suit. That sounds to me like more than an innocent pat on a buttcheek, but I don’t know as I’m not experienced in that area.

Lorraine, It’s hard to imagine being stoned and doing 30 in a 60 zone, let alone 85. Wonder if anyone will point out that only you and I caught this and inquire why.

  20. maryelle says:

Lorraine & Uncle Dave: Sounds like the voice of experience.

    Sam: Loved the dope pun.

I probably shouldn’t gloat over this stuff but I can’t help myself.

  22. Going 85mph in a 65mph zone while stoned?

It will be interesting to see what he is sentenced for.

In the state of new York possession of pot is a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to one year in jail. (If justice were carried out, he would get the sentence that he would recommend for a Democrat caught doing the same thing. LOL)

But it’s most likely that he will continue to serve as an elected official paid by the taxpayers and will have little to no consequences for his behavior.

NY has a point system for speeding. The 20 miles over the speed limit imposes 4 points. if you accumulate more than 10 points, you can be suspended. Additionally, even with just one conviction for 31 mph (or more) over the limit, a judge could suspend your license. His speeding ticket is, at least, $90. Plus, New York State adds $50 to the fine making the cost of the speeding ticket $140,

So it doesn’t sound like this jerk will get much of anything in terms of consequences. Probably probation and a fine of $140 is my guess.

  25. “…once the facts are presented that this will quickly be put to rest…” ????

Facts, like 80 mph in a 65 mph zone? Facts, like marijuana in the car?

Yeah, sonny, it will be put to rest in a court, and I hope to G*d you forgot to pay off the judge, so you get put to rest in the pokey for a good long time. Because I’ll bet if you were Black, that’s where you’d be, and it should be the same law for everyone.
