My Evenings Are Officially Booked

March 14, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I just heard that Chris Hayes, the second smartest person on teevee is taking over for Ed Schultz.  He will be followed by Rachel Maddow, the first smartest person on teevee.

So now I have Sharpton, Hayes, and Maddow.  Sorry, Lawrence O’Donnell but I have to watch Duck Dynasty and Storage Wars sometimes.

I’m going out to buy me one of those recliner chairs today and start breaking that sucker in.  Oh, who am I kidding?  You know I already have one, right?

Be social and share!

  1. Polish it off with John Stuart and you have quite the evening’s political feast. Enjoy.

    1
  2. I read somewheres on the tubes that Ezra Klein may be taking that spot. If that’s the case then I’ll be spending another hour on Lake Travis or chopping more ceders off my lot in the holler…..

  3. Lorraine in Spring says:

Geez, I’ll never get anything done. Someone tell my husband I didn’t leave, I’m just locked in the tv room now.

    3
  4. W C Peterson says:

I was hoping MSNBC would come to their senses and get Olbermann back, but I’ll settle for Hayes. I’m hoping they will get rid of the prison series, too.

    4
  5. Olden Grey says:

    You didn’t mention Chris Mathews.

  6. austinhatlady says:

Glad to hear Chris is moving to evenings. I like the Chris, Rachel & Lawrence lineup. I watch both Al Sharpton and Chris Matthews on occasion; however, Al is just awkward enough as a host that I feel uncomfortable and I really don’t like the way Matthews talks over his guests. I also like Ezra Klein.

    6
  7. This would be even better if they took off the second hour of Matthews and put in Joy Reid.

JJ, Storage Wars and Duck Dynasty both re-run marathons all weekend~you don’t have to miss @Lawrence

Hopefully, MSNBC will get rid of WE ARE ALL IN PRISON on the weekends with Ed’s show going to weekend evenings~

    7
  8. I am thrilled. This will make my weekend mornings free. I might get to church on time every so often. I cannot take Sharpton, but Chris
is exactly my kind of guy.

    8
  9. Melissa Roth says:

I was hoping for Ezra Klein because I really like him and I love Chris Hayes, but I will miss his long indepth almost taking a graduate course shows on the weekends. What will I do with all that time on the weekend?

    9
  10. I liked Chris Hayes exacely where he was…. on Saturday and Sunday mornings…… for a couple of hours. There was plenty of time for good guests, and good panel discussions…..not just talking points or soundbites. He and Melissa Harris Perry made it worthwhile to turn on the tv in the morning, on the weekends.

Besides, I’m a baseball fan.. and the World Baseball Classic has been a lot of fun to watch in the evenings, during the week. I can catch up with the rest of it, (MSNBC news) on the net.

Geesh…. some people just can’t leave well enough alone.

    10
  11. Matthews has the most knowledgeable and interesting guest. I just wish one of them would tell him (cover your eyes, Momma) STFU!

    11
  12. BC may actually be the worst of all–yes, the network that is home to Lawrence O’Odonnell, The Ed Show, Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews. They are owned by GE the largest war contractor in the world. They regularly censor stories even on PBS that tell the truth about who they are. Unlike Fox News, their propaganda is much more subtle and pervasive.

You let me know the next time you hear Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Chris Matthews or Ed Schultz on the air telling us that it is a damn crime that General Electric paid no income taxes for 2009 and 2010 even though they reported billions of dollars in profit. Then and only then will I say that I was wrong.

But it will never happen because the fortunes of these people are tied to the fortunes of GE, just as are 82 members of our Congress who own millions of dollars of GE stock and see no conflict of interest in approving military allocations to this corporate war profiteer.

    12
  13. MSNBC (not “BC”) And anyone who thinks that network is any more “fair and balanced” than any of the others is simply not looking at the whole picture.

I do consider MSNBC to be the worst of the worst because, unlike Fox and CNN, MSNBC and its side-show-Bobs can fool liberals. It’s easy to be smug about people like Palin and George Bush because they are such obvious nincompoops.

However, Obama and the side-show-bobs on MSNBC are much more subtle and sophisticated with their rhetoric. Still they ALL belong to the same elitist Wall Street suckup club, regardless their party. They just screw the majority differently.

    13
  14. Joy Reid is one of the smartest voices to come along since the wonderful Rachel Maddow, and she should be given Al Sharpton’s valuable hour. The man, try as he will, simply isn’t polished enough. After all this time. His interviews are still clumsy, his grammar remains atrocious, he’s woefully under-informed, and he really should be just a rotating guest whose job it is to raise hell because that’s what he’s good at. Period!

When I watch Joy Reid (talk about rotating guest, the woman is everywhere) I want to kick the screen when I see Chris Mathews cut her off, which he does with everyone else of course, yet in her nano second of airtime, she still manages to say more, more information of value, than twenty minutes of what Chris Mathews interrupted her for.

IMHO, here should be the line-up starting at five: Chris Mathews, Joy Reid, Ezra Klein (Mathews doesn’t need a repeat), Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow and finally Lawrence O’Donnell to round out the onslaught. Then a stiff Jack Daniels to take you into The Daily Show!

    14
  15. Sadly, the two most fair and balanced shows are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, both “comedy” shows. What does that say about America?

    15
  16. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

Our community run cable company runs more to sports and reruns of CSI: Frostbite Falls so I have to rely on y’alls to digest all those MSNBC things and tell me the important stuff.

    16
  17. Although “worst of the worst” may be excessive, Elizabeth Berry pretty much nails it. Both times.

    17
  18. I dvr Harball, Rachel and the Last Word and then play them on the dvr each night. This way I can fast foward through the commercials and segments that I do not care about. As a Jew, I really have no interest in the new Pope and so I skipped a significant portion of these shows last night

    18
  19. Cheryl Ann says:

Elizabeth, How do you know they regularly censor stories about who they are? Since they regularly call “BS” on conservative talking points, I have a hard time with your “they are the worst of all” statement. All news has bias, it is done by people and people are biased. Can’t be helped. The Hate on Faux News is more than I can take, and you throw the stupid on top of that and its a waste of air time.

It is nice that you gave President Obama and the on-air personalities a “sophisticated” compliment, but given a choice, I will believe my President over nearly anyone I know, even our dear JJ.

As far as GE paying no taxes, that is not GE’s fault, that is our Congress and our insane tax code. And yes, I”m sure they lobby to keep it the same, oh hey, look, thats working. And exactly who is working to not change the tax code for corporations, and instead getting rid of the working stiff’s tax breaks? Oh yes, that would be Republicans.

  20. scottybeamer says:

I guess I just don’t fit in on this conversation. I am to the point where I can hardly stand any of them. I just listen to a lot of jazz…………soothes me much better. I think Rachel is super smart, but she isn’t allowed to say what she really knows or thinks……….or something. Just way too much repetition for my ol’ brain.

    20
  21. Marge Wood says:

Read a good book. It will take your mind off stuff you cain’t fix. My latest great one is called LONE WOLF and is by Jodi Picoult.

    21
  22. @Cheryl: I agree completely; pretty sad, except that it’s good to have at least two…

    22
  23. Charlene says:

Glad to see Chris come aboard..@scotty..i’m so sick of these rwnj that i scream..

    23
  24. Admit it, Elizabeth. You’ve never really watched any of those shows, have you. GE’s tax avoidance has been a subject many times back when it was actually news.

    24
  25. Elizabeth Berry — well, of course, the media is biased. You seem to think that you’re the first person to have discovered that. Congratulations.

Perhaps you should read various periodicals, research as best one can on the internet, and actually think. You don’t have to believe everything you hear on MSNBC or anywhere else (as in Faux News — get real.) Poor you, Elizabeth, you’re addicted to Fox and don’t know anything else. You’re just as big a nincompoop as Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, my own congress varmint, Doc Hastings, and the rest of them. For Heaven’s sake put down the remote, step away from the TV, and READ.

I’m standing with Cheryl Ann, and most especially her last paragraph. For God’s sake, don’t take off on the corporations and individuals who benefit from the tax laws — expect your legislature to CHANGE THE LAWS. It’s their job. Pretty simple really. The tax laws favor the top 1% and crap on the working class. Who changes these laws? Your representatives. Get a grip!

Don’t forget Archer, Thursday at 9 Central on FX. Unbelievably fast and funny.
