What the Fool Tarnation Are They Thinking?
Republicans blocked a vote on Chuck Hagel just because they can? They filibustered a member of the President’s cabinet?
The Tea Party is running this damn country.
I had to pull my car over to the side of the road to write this. You know that sound you can make when you put your tongue between the closed lips and blow real hard? If I could spell that, that is what I’d write right now.
I’ve shot off an e-mail to that damnfool Cruz-controlled Cornyn who stood on the floor of the Senate and proclaimed it wasn’t a filabuster, just a delay so they can get more requested information. Rick Perry must have set up a breeding program for imbeciles with maximum dipshittery to produce so many of these idiots.
1These people are so morally bankrupt, that they demand 5 years of tax information from Hagel, but Romney, whose money was in every tax shelter available, well one year is just fine. It makes me want to smack my head. Hagel’s big sin is having the nerve to think independently instead of being in lock step with the party. Oh he had the nerve to say that his oath was to the USA and his first concern was what is in best interest of America instead of Israel. Wow, cause I would want to vote in Israel’s interest over ours in every case. snark intended.
2Pbbbblt! That;s what happens when Reid decides to do a ‘Gentleman’s Agreement” with a snake. McConnell is no gentleman, even if the Commonwealth of Kentucky says he is. His actions belie any title to that effect. If it would do any good, I’d construct a McConnell voodoo doll and stick a billion pins in it.
3That’s called a Bronx Cheer, especially when Archie Bunker did it. Well-deserved for both of our Senators.
4@TexasEllen – ROFLMAO, spot on!
5Do you think this could be a catalyst for the Dems to act on the filibuster? We can only hope it lights a fire under them.
6Jan has it right. We had a chance to change the filibuster rules and we didn’t take it. Instead, there was a “gentlemen’s agreement”. The Ds forgot that you can’t have a “gentlemen’s agreement” without at least two gentlemen.
7WHEN will Harry Reid figure out that any deal with the Repubs isn’t worth the paper it is written on?????
8Those alleged people are crazier than bedbugs.
9That sound is also called a raspberry, from British rhyming slang– “raspberry tart” rhymes with what it sounds like.
And I blow a few in the GOP’s general direction.
10I’m so mad at Harry Reid right now I could chew nails, the ten penny kind. Gentleman’s agreement? As if Mitch McConnell or the rest of those vipers would ever pass for being gentleman! Reid needs to hook up with Tinkerbell and Peterpan after this–Because he’s definitely living in Never Never Land to actually believe the GOP wouldn’t crawfish their way back to using the filibuster to block and distort every darn thing is just sheer wishful thinking.
11Let’s just say that Harry Reid sucks as a leader. I might even vote for a Republican in his district to get a better leader of the Democratic Party. Does he really believe they will hesitate to change the filibuster rule if they ever regain power?
12Suzi, I was just about to write that. McConnell just took poor old Harry to school, and everybody but that fool saw it.
13If you people are hollering at Harry Reid because he changed to a no vote at the last minute, you have to understand that he did that as a parliamentary maneuver to retain the right to bring the vote up again for reconsideration. He counted heads and realized that there was no way that the Democrats had rounded up enough Republicans to get to 60 votes in favor. Although reconsideration on the cloture vote is unlikely, that possibility is lost entirely unless one of the sponsors votes against his own measure. Harry Reid has done nothing wrong and everything possible to get Hegel’s nomination approved.
14I think what we are lambasting Harry for–at least in my case–is his caving on filibuster reform to McConnell.
15There’s a line of holes in the wall across from me where I spit nails today. How I wish Ted Cruz & Deb Fischer had been in the way.
Time for lighter notes… how ’bout two old guys tap dancing on their heads… well, on the table. Enjoy!

This blocking of Hagel has never happened before in the history of the US. I can’t explain it. I’m afraid we’re going to have four more years of this obstruction, country be damned.
17W.C.- the McConnell voodoo doll doesn’t work. Lord knows we’ve tried.
Lindy aka hippie in the hollar
18He’s the nominee until an affirmative vote of a majority of Senators rejects him. Don’t nominate anyone else. When the sequester hits Obama should put base closure at the top of his list and then refuse to appear before Congress.
19Iless, that is a great idea. Every town with a base wants to KEEP IT.
20Texas has lots of bases. So do most of the reddest states. Base closings in the name of sequestering would be a real
21“come to Jesus” moment for most of these arrogant dipshits.
Remember when the GOP used to be pro-defense.
Now they are pro defense spending, but against actually doing anything effectively.
22It is a knee jerk reaction. They don’t have a philosophical problem, it is the anti-obama all the time reaction. Ted Cruz is the epitome of this and he will roast in hades one day, so we have that.
23Did anybody go to steve stockman town hall last night?
24How bad was it, any reports?
GOP doublespeak. They block a nomination but don’t call it a fillibuster. They ask for financial information that Hagel has no access to but disregard the personal financial info from their Presidential nominee. It’s a bizarro world.
25Used to be on Cabinet nominations, the United States Senate would “Advise and Consent”. Now they “Proclaim and Obstruct”.
This is no way to ran a railroad, much less a country…. and the one thing that comes to mind is “Carnival Cruise Lines”.
Are they in charge of the government now?
Chuck Hagel was deemed to be not Pro-Israel enough. And, then he was deemed to be not Anti-Iran enough.
Then, if what I read on Facebook is not fiction, but fact, he yelled at his staff. And, is all over the map ideologically.
What Chuch Hagel is……. is a decorated Viet Nam War Veteran….. and as far as I’m concerned…… that makes him “Pro-American”, and frankly that’s all I care about.
The rest was just crap thrown at the wall, hoping something would stick. It didn’t. Confirm the man and move on.
26Have to agree with TexasEllen’s and Iless’s comments about the military bases, but I guess if the goofballs are serious about secession, and they actually stumble into success, the US will close not only the Army, Air Force, and Naval bases, but all VA, NASA, FAA — you get the idea. I guess you would deal with Social Security via phone (lol) or email. Worse yet, they could bring Ted back to run for Governor! Scary!!!
27Just wait–as Joe Scarborogh said this morning, those toes that Ted Cruz is stepping on are going to come back and kick him in the shins.
I would hope it would be his backside, but I guess any kick will do.
28Wow! I can hardly wait to hear what The Third Eagle will say about the meteorite.
29This is your tea party in action.
30NCE
not crazy enough.
Close some bases…. starting with Kentucky, then Texas… one each for McConnell, Cruz, and Cornyn. Hagel is being strung out because he used his brain, spoke the truth. And yes, George W. Bush WAS the worst President in US history. I guess that is why McCain said, “when Hagel was a Republican” in his recent explanations of why they have Hagel on the stretching rack. Keep up the pressure friends…. blast away at these bozos on their “official websites”.
Neugebauer is now running a little campaign spot on Abilene tv stations asking for the consitituents to contact him on 3 issues to see where the citizens stand….guns, debt, and something else that escapes me right now. The final tag where he says “I’m Rockin’ Randy and I approve this message”, under his name, it says “Texas Most Conservative. Yeah, we all click on those letters to “add your name”… I think individual emails probably are more effective…. and when I have gotten mad enough to pick up the phone to call his local office here on an issue, some sweet little receptionist who drips “Southern drawl, young, and naive”, is shocked that I am calling to strongly voice my distaste with the good Congressman’s latest illspent vote and lockstep jig with the party of no….
31I would like to know why we, as citizens, cannot contact Congressmen and Senators outside our state using the .gov websites.
I understand that they are suppose to represent their own constituents, but how they vote affects us ALL.
32Why can’t we contact them to let them know our pleasure/displeasure on votes????
What you all said, HELL YEAH – what I said is NOT safe for anyone’s Momma –
Diane, Work Around on Zip Codes – google district/state/whatever, near local offices and USE THOSE ZIP CODES. It ALWAYS works for me~
When calling – area codes mean nothing anymore or I’m visiting my grandkids….in whatever area code.
33I tried to give Screwie Louie a piece of my mind a month or so ago, and couldn’t…. he isn’t “my Congressman” and the Congressman doesn’t have time to respond to those living outside his district. Next time… I’m finding a zip code first. Good tip.
34I heard McCain saying Hagel shouldn’t be in the cabinet because he was sooo mean to Prez Bush. I wonder if realizes how childish he sounded. Just don’t say it out loud!
35Forget writing to GOP reps – waste of time cause they don’t give a flim-flam. Put pressure on where they can feel it – local newspaper editors. Demand they write the truth – the GOP senators are playing silly games & being irresponsible! The Editorial Board of the Lincoln, Neb. newspaper called it correctly: “Filibuster on Hagel Irresponsible” : http://bit.ly/Z3ZteF
36To Ted Cruz, when did you stop beating your wife? have you always taken money from Russia? I have no proof, but I’m just asking the question.
37Serendipity…
