Texas Attorney General Welcomes Armed Yankees
The Wall Street Journal was real excited about Attorney General Abbott.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas attorney general has launched an Internet ad campaign inviting New Yorkers who feel their state’s new gun laws are too restrictive to move to Texas.
Anyone accessing a variety of media sites from Manhattan or Albany starting Wednesday may be confronted with two pop-up ads.
One reads, “Is Gov. Cuomo looking to take your guns?” Another says, “Wanted: Law abiding New York gun owners looking for lower taxes and greater opportunity.”
Paid for with Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s campaign funds, the ads reference the nation’s toughest gun control law. It was signed Tuesday by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The ads link to a Facebook site proclaiming, “Keep your guns, move to Texas.”
The site says Texas has no income tax and created more than 275,000 jobs in 12 months.
All New Yorkers have to give up is health care, good schools, decent salaries, low teen pregnancy rates, clean air, and a Governor who can remember three things.
By the way, I know about those 275,000 new jobs. A couple of my friends have several of them. It takes at least three to fill a gas tank.
Gov Cuomo & his AG are madly trying to round up all the bad dudes with guns & get enough buses to ship them off to Texas, all expenses paid. heh heh
1Our dumbass Atty Gen may welcome armed New Yorkers, but I won’t.
2As a Californian I invite Californians who hate gun laws to move to… Well, almost anywhere except California.
3@Emoon, we New Yorkers can help you police the border since all we see on the news is Texans crying about how they can’t handle it and how things are sooooo unfair wahhhhh wahhhhh wahhhhhh. All joking aside, Texas is a great state and I may just end up there. I’ll try to blend in for Emoons sake. It’s 50/50 between Texas and Florida. New York is out of control…
4Does that include all colors of gun owners? I suspect Abbott’s basic assumption is that only white folks think that way.
5Maybe we could arrange a 1-1 exchange? I hear parts of NY are real nice and all those little perks JJ mentioned sound nice too, even if there IS a state income tax! I might volunteer to exchange! It would be nice not to cringe every time the Gov opens his yap, too! Hmmmm!
6Good idea. Grouping all of them together in one place makes it easier to watch them. Also easier for the rest of us to know where the nuts are and avoid them…..
7Sorry JJ, but if your AG wants them, I won’t protest.
8There are some additional Texas attractions not included in the appeal to New Yorkers:
9* Text books that deny science and history.
* Louis Gohmert
* Denial of women’s reproductive rights.
* Steve Stockman
* Glenn Beck’s utopian commune.
* Steve Toth
* Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas
* Rick Perry’s ranch (especially appealing to African Americans)
* The Texas Nationalists
* George P. Bush
* Tom Delay’s sentencing
Yeah, that’s the ticket, Abbott. ISTG, the idiocy of politicos in Tejas is running dead even with the Evangelibaggers of the Tennessee statehouse – who is going to win the pointy cap in Confederacy of Dunces~
10Well, this is an improvement over the atmosphere when I lived in Texas. At that time, ” a Yankee with a U-Haul” was as threatening as brown and black people.
11@gramiam,
In some ways, it addresses the threat of brown and black people.
He may be hoping to counterbalance the fact that our hispanic numbers are growing enough to turn this state purple, if not blue…but really…idjets! Does Abbot think the only type of folks willing to move here will be conservative white people at such an invite?
If you can’t stop the population growth and influx, then import white people with guns. Oh yeah, that’ll work.
12Time for Mario Piperni to give us an illustration of Abbott welcoming a bus load of Puerto Rican gangsters, fully outfitted with assault weapons, looking for Texas jobs in our capitol.
13Grandma used to say, “be careful what you ask for, you might get it”….
14Do we really have enough new burger joints to have 275,000 new jobs?
15The beauty of coming to JJ, I read these things in the news, they make me angry and sick to my stomach. Then I read about them here and you make me laugh.
Thanks, Susan.
16Hi, I am a New Yorker that has guns. I also am a Disabled Veteran! I would consider the move but I would have to sell everything here! There is A LOT of information needed prior to moving there. Like, How is the cost of living? How much is it to purchase a home? What are the land taxes? I know it would depend on location, but which location would be best? I am on a fixed income now! The doctors have wanted me to move south for years but I didn’t want to sell everything. So is the AG of Texas willing to help with selling my house and finding a simular home there, with LAND for humting? All these things must be considered!
