NASCAR Congress
I have long contended that congressfolks should be required to wear NASCAR uniforms so everybody can see who their sponsors/sugardaddies/owners are.
Especially now.
You remember UBS – that criminal enterprise that helped rich American hide their money in Switzerland and now faces a Billion dollars in fines?
Yes, the one Phil Gramm plays cuddly baby with.
Well, apparently one billion dollars in fines ain’t nothing to fret about when you can buy congressvarmints so cheaply.
Take a lookie right here. (And here’s a little sample)
UBS is craftier than Marsha Stewart.
They are throwing money all over Congress.
If you’ll go to the link you’ll also see the names of some committees they donated to. That’s just a lame attempt to cover their tracks. For example, the Texas 101 Fund is Texas Republican Kevin Brady’s Leadership PAC.
Now the really fun part of this is to see how many of these guys are on House Financial Services Committee, you know, the watchdogs. Humm … Capuano, Clay, Cleaver, Velazque, Scott, Meeks, Carney, Watt, Hinojosa, and Lynch. Did we forget anybody?
We have the finest congress criminal bankers can buy.
I know you’re proud of that.
Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen for the egg nog shake and the heads up. Merry Christmas, Alfredo.
What could possibly go wrong when the fox pays for a guard to protect the hen house?
1We’re Number 1! In prisoners, in gun violence, in hungry children, and now, it seems, in purchased politicians. But never call it bribery – never! The only thing that even surprises me is that they can be had so cheaply.
2We need a Constitutional Amendment that says Congresscritters must recuse themselves from any committee or vote when they’ve received financial support from an interested party.
3EMoon, that’s good, but limit support to $500 and donations must be from individuals.
4EMoon you have a great idea there. The only problem is that any law or amendment has to go through those selfsame Congresscritters. They guard their treasure like Smaug.
5Guys, you’re a bit late for the party… Fox & Friends inherited the chicken coop actually 10 years ago.
That’s when GWB appointed Christopher Cox to head the SEC w/Senate approval, of course. Poor guy didn’t get to do anything while doing his job of looking the other way. 2008 was the result.

6Really the best insight came from PBS’ Frontline…
explaining how ‘the boys’ ganged up on Brooksley Borne to keep her from regulating the dark market of credit default swaps. The ‘boys’ included Alan Greenspan, Larry Summers, Robert Rubin, et al.
And we all know how well that worked out for the rest of us….
