Exactly What I Wanted For Christmas

December 06, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, kids, we must have been very good this year

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) isn’t necessarily dismissing a future run to replace outgoing Sen. Jim DeMint, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday:

“It’s not a ‘no,’ but it’s not a ‘yes,’ ” Mr. Sanford said.

The “love guv” is best known nationally for the embarrassing disclosure in 2009 of an extramarital affair, after he was intercepted at the airport flying back from Argentina – after aides had claimed he was hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Oh y’all, this is way better than a pony.

Thanks to Sybil for the heads up.

I believe he married the woman with whom he was having the affair. Using TEA Party logic, doesn’t that make everything OK?

They sure know how to keep happy on our faces, don’t they?

O my prophetic soul! Didn’t you just mention that there trail a day or two ago?! Were you born with a caul?

DeMint has favored another congressman to be appointed by Nikki Haley, Gov of SC. Let the games begin.

  8. So the religious right who hold their moral values so dear to their heart is going to nominate a marital philanderer.

The hypocrisy warms my heart on this cold morning.

Perhaps Mark Sanford’s doxy is the Republican version of immigration reform? Could be a GREAT platform in 2014….

  10. Oh, boy! The way this month is going, there appears to be no end to our Christmas blessings.

  11. @Sam in Kyle, shame on you…Using Tea Party and Logic in the same sentence. Harrumph.

The Tea Party’s so-called “Logic” fits right in with Alice in Wonderland’s style tea parties.

  12. Here is a man who is totally disconnected from practical reality. All that any opponent will need to do is to utter the words “Appalachian Trail”, and discerning listeners will not be able to stop laughing.
I suspect that Sanford is looking to the example of Sen. David Vitter, who patronized certain types of working women, did the “public repentance while horrified wife plays the nodding dog” routine, and still managed to get re-elected (although, to put it into context, he represents a state that cheerfully re-elected a convicted felon to the governorship, so the probity bar is low in that state).

Speaking of checking Winkies, shouldn’t this guy be at the head of the line?

  14. @ Graham – the Cajun bar is indeed low. When David Duke was running for governor, among the bumper stickers was one reading “Vote for the crook. It’s important.”

  15. Corinne Sabo says:

Maybe he’ll go to Argentina to campaign. In English.

  16. “Using TEA Party logic, doesn’t that make everything OK?”. Yes, but why wait for the TP to rule. Sanford said God forgave him ……… what else does he need to be a good republican, not to mention, qualified to be prez. I mean, it didn’t stop Gingrich, Cain, et al.

    17
  17. Senator Mark Sanford, R-SC. Kind of has a ‘Vitter, deJarlais, Ensign, ad infinitum’ ring to it, wouldn’t you say?
