Got Compass? Hell, Got Map?

Fox News announcing the campus evacuation at UT.

Honest to goodness, at least they got Texas right but that’s about all.

  1. Is this from the new “We ain’t teaching no science in Texas” textbook? Anxious to see the biology textbook. Who knows my daughters might be sons.

    1
  2. Doesn’t someone in their (dis)organization have a US map? 3 states mis-named. I wonder what the rest of country looks like… according to them?

    2
  3. Ummmm…hellloooo? Can any of us place DE, NH, MA, VT in their proper spots?

I am an AL native, and lived in MS for far too long, but even I know non-Southerners can get confused.

I am simply owning that I do too.

    Indiana, anyone?

    3
  4. Well, by my calculations from those locations they have correctly placed 5 states out of 9 on the map. That’s about 56%. I think that is pretty high for the accuracy of their reporting.

At least they put Mexico in the right place!

  5. Wow. Fox News is so dumb it can’t even keep the red states straight.

Did many people in those states notice?

So is Fox News really dumb, or are they giving their own viewers the finger?

    5
  6. @Hillary: I can place DE, NH, MA, VT exactly, but I lived in MA for 5 years. Much more difficult is MN, MI, and WI. However, one would think a national news organization would have a map.
    LOL!

    6
  7. I don’t know if I can place the states but I sure know when the states look out of place. For someone from a national news organization to look at that map and not be embarrassed is very bad.

  8. Sandy Havens says:

Hillary, sorry but I can place ’em all–and any more you want to throw at me–and I don’t run a so-called national news service.

    8
  9. Don’t they have Austin about where Wink, TX is also?

    9
  10. Fox News mislabels states and cities so often, I think it’s their way of saying, “To our viewers, we broadcast so much that’s incorrect, our maps are your warning label.”

    10
  11. Looks like calling in bomb threats to colleges is the sport of the week.

I am a stinkin immigrant but even I can get the bigger ones in the right place, I would admit to only having a 50:50 chance of getting the tiddly ones on the right hand side, DE, MD, in the right place but I do know where they belong.

    11
  12. The kind of quality reporting we have all come to count on from Fox. Where’s Arkansas? Is this a new game on Fox like “Where’s Waldo?” Yep, the news you need to hear, all day, every day.

  13. aggieland liz says:

Gosh, I used to know all the capitals of all the states too! We used to play a game where we had to know all the states and their capital cities too. And we has one of those puzzle maps too. Saving it for my grandkids now!
    The dumbing down accelerates…

  14. This is a page from one of their science texts. Note this is not photoshoped, the link is to a page of the publisher’s trying to explain the insert.

  15. Elise Von Holden says:

It’s a 56 hour drive for my my love and me…Ca to NY—so I’ve got the West down, and now, living in NY, I’ve learned the East, because we drive around here as well (peepers!!–that’s what they call leaf lookers up here) I’m not 100% on the South, but then, I’m not a national television disgrace, either.
How they can have an opinion on anything international is beyond me, they can’t get this country’s geography, correct, their heads out of the salacious toilet, nor stop beating their war drums–I thank God every day that I may not be the educated, elite, smart person that I strive to be, but that I have that as a goal, a much better one than, ignorant, common and stupid–which is the Fox (be more ill-informed than no information at all) mantra…

  16. Faux Nooze must be the largest employer of middle school dropouts.

    16
  17. Mike, who thought he was in MO says:

I checked with several friends here, wherever here is, and the earth didn’t move for them either. Is this what happens when you move from the Big 12 to the SEC?

    17
  18. Ok-now anyone who took Geography in the 4th Grade in Texas in the early 1960’s would have aced this – bu thten again – I was struck by where Austin was placed and then I thought maybe Ross Perot had his fondest wish come true and he had made ARKANSAS just disappear since according to him it was a small inconsequential state with nothing but chickens to speak for it…..but I digress here……the question really should be…..are we surprised considering the source and even more…..Why do people watch this trash bearing network and continually bring attention to it or quote it. Kill it by ignoring it and put all of us out of our misery.

    18
  19. Take another look at that picture … that is a Bing map … is it Faux Noose or Bing that didn’t get the states named right?

    19
  20. aggieland liz says:

Fox doesn’t broadcast out of Aggieland Mike amigo. They are very popular IN Aggieland, more’s the pity! A&M hadnt received any threats that I’ve heard of…not worth the powder to blow us up, maybe?! Actually, those are all SEC states they rearranged too, aren’t they? How bizarre!

    20
  21. It might be a Bing map, but those are Fox labels superimposed. This is so sad, I could cry for a week. But Austin is placed about right within the State.
